None of the list. I have a crackling sound in my right ear only. It's not continuous. But it sounds like a combination of static and the sort of crackling that you hear when you add milk to rice crispy cereal.
Nothing on your list really approximates it.

Although I have a high pitched ringing that would fall under the category of tinnitus, the most prominent sound I hear is not in your list. It is a strange electronic whooping sound that goes high and low but starts and stops randomly. I hear it almost exclusively in a quiet setting. It's almost but not exactly like a theremin or a little like when someone plays a saw as an instrument. Short bursts, high then low, or low then high, or multiples of the same, some longer some shorter. What would cause that?

This has been a very informative video! I have suffered with tinnitus my entire life. My earliest memory of being about 5 years old and hearing the pure tone ringging. This has disrupted my life in unimaginable ways, from sleep derivation to not being able to sit still throughout school. I have told and begged many Doctors for help to be told there's nothing that can be done to relieve it. Now a 51 I suffer from sounds 1,3,and 5 sometimes so loudly that it drowns out my wife's voice. In loud public places its causes a closterphobic type of sensation with an increasing anxiety. I am so pleased to have found this video and find that now medical professionals are studying this extensively.

In the beginning, the sound was quite loud and compromised my quality of life. With several visits to local radiologists and with several sound therapies that I discovered with your help, today the sound volume in my right ear has decreased quite a bit. Thank you once again for your help and I will certainly continue to follow your work and with your help I will try to improve the quality of my life in the future. Greetings from Croatia

I have a combination of 1 & 5. Always the same intensity of volume and it has more of a multi tone aspect like listening to three notes in constant harmony.
I'm over 60 and have dealt with this since I was in my early teens.
I have never found anything that masks the sound entirely unless it is some version of very loud chopping sound like hard random rain dropping on a metal roof.
Volume wise, mine is around the 35-45 decibel range.

I guess I'm stage 4 because I don't care that I hear it. But I would prefer to NEVER hear it.
I personally don't think it's actually my hearing, or loss of hearing. I actually believe it's something in my head. Occasionally I might actually hear the sound actually in my ears but the constant noise isn't in my ears. It's emanating in my head & I can hear it. 🤷

I have 1,3,5,6,8,9. Different times of the day, some come and go. You also forgot one, the diesel engine. It is a bass sound that sounds like a car engine is on the top floor of your house. Hissing sounds and cicadas are sometimes the combination of different tinnitus frequences coming together, some of them make a wah wah pedal effect on the sounds you hear. I have tinittus for 10 years now whitch I inherited from my father who has serious hearing loss, he is 93 now and has lost hearing in one of his ears and barely hears from the other.. The sounds I hear are different in each ear different pitch and the diesel sound is on my right ear only. I have had the number one sound for years, and to be honest, it does not bother me unless it becomes louder. Back in August and September I had additional tinnitus, and one of them was the sound of cicadas which would be loud and then taper off to a softer sound, but the worst one which was a nightmare for me, and drove me right into depression Was the sound of a loud landslide but with the sound my eyes or vision would vibrate it only lasted for 1 to 2 seconds, but it was a very horrible experience and I did go to an audiologist for a 2 1/2 hour screening, and at the end she gave me no treatment Except she could help possibly by showing me a hearing aid. The funny thing was she said my hearing was only bad on high notes. I’m 79 years old and don’t expect to have perfect hearing but I was pretty upset that I really didn’t get any suggestion for a treatment if I ever get that again. I even had an MRI of the brain because of the visual vibration I was getting during that roaring sound in my right ear only and the MRI of the brain was negative for any tumors.

But my balance of late is pretty bad as I am just 70 this year. I’ve tried hearing aides but none have worked as they either just amplify the back ground noises or I react to the silicon ear pieces(really bad itching). Not sure anything can help at this point. So I am an avid follower of your channel and I share your channel with everyone here in Pennsylvania that connect with me. So this is what I’ve done I lowered significantly my sodium intake no caffeine no smoking no alcohol no cheese no dairy no snacks I gave up dark chocolate only because I found that there are ingredients in there that I question. I don’t do drugs. I try to get at least 6 to 7 hours of sleep every night prior to that my tinnitus sounded much like a nonstop whistle, and the Times make a nor’easter wind making its way through the spaces of my home. Sounds like this.
    Hisssssssssssss
So since I gave up all the foods that were not recommended, I also incorporated, green, leafy vegetables, pineapple, arugula, peppers of all colors, spinach, mixed greens, and I could say that it’s diminished it by at least 50%. Sometimes in the morning you could hardly even hear it so I went from my seven sounding out of 10 being the worst to a.

The sound I'd hear, I'd describe it as that high pitched sound you hear when you turn on the TV, especially the old box tv.its not a hiss but more of a high pitched ring.. I thought this is what everyone heard with tinnitus. I started massaging my two side neck muscles, and being mindful of my head posture, I had habit of forward head posture. Slowly getting better, but I can empathize with anyone out there having this.. good to know we aren't alone, even though feels lonesome when you have it.

#1, 5 & 6 constant for last 2 yrs, rarely #9 & occasionally #10. Intensity 1, thankfully, when distracted up to 8-10 when in quiet setting, later at night or when I awake during sleep. Supposedly normal hearing but struggle to get words spoken to me in conversation, especially if not fully focused. Actually, matched my high pitch at the far end of my standard hearing test, where some early declines were shown, but testing didn't go further as I was told that was only available in the other office & if I was pursuing specialized treatment if I were a musician or singer or something like that. ENT just says "hearing good" try diff supplements, all hit or miss, get used to it. Just accept it in jest most of the time but there are moments that I'm blown away by this sound being a constant in my everyday existence.

Dr. Ben, I'm so glad you're there and the valuable info you always provide. My tinnitus is in my left ear only. I have 2 overlapping sounds. I have a constant #1 tonal background sound and then on top of that an intermittent very low squeaky sound - almost mechanical sound. I have habituated to both and just disregard them. I have some spikes, but in general, I can just tune it out. Mine stemmed from sudden sensio-neural hearing loss in one ear. At present, showing no hearing deficits.

#5 or #6 combo, with occ #9 due to a benign tumor that has been treated. i also get a high-pitched tinkling sound, like a tiny elf tapping a metal hammer on glass, rhythmic. 2 weeks ago, it all vanished after hearing a single sustained tone (unlike my usual tinnitus of #5 & #6), i had about 10 seconds of silence, bliss! then it all came back. still hopeful i will get more periods of silence. :)

Mine is from a car exploding as it crashed into my truck on the motorway. The sound perforated my ear drum and there is scarring. This was 6 years ago. I've tried everything available to me to no avail. I am at the end of my tether. The frustration of trying to "ignore" or hide from the ringing is the worst. There is no escape and I'm done with it!!!!

Is there anything you can do to help me. I had a tooth pulled and the next day my ear started ringing and it never stops. It’s one consistent non changing sound and it really is wearing me down. I looked it up and the closest I can find online to mine is the 8 kHz triangle wave is what I hear but just a bit more muffled. It also sounds like the our tone. It’s been over two years since I’ve been dealing with this and I have noticed there were times when I almost forgot about it and I couldn’t figure out why. It was never gone when I checked it was still there and I could never find out why sometimes it was not as bad. I thought it might have something to do with the weather but I was never sure.

I have constant tinnitus, going back as far as I can recall. At least as far back to my time in the U.S. Air Force in the 60s. As for the sounds in the video, I don't hear anything in numbers 1, 5, 6, 8. I did hear the other sounds. I asked my wife to listen to make sure the computer was working correctly. What is more interesting is reading comments of folks apparently saying they "have" certain numbers. I don't hear anything in those I mentioned so couldn't tell if any of those of all of them are the constant noise in my head, or not. Interesting indeed.

After listening to masking videos, my left ear tinnitus is negligible but now I have it in my right ear, as loud as it was in my left ear. Loud and annoying. I manage it by ignoring it or by focusing on ambient noise. However, when I work by myself in my office, the tinnitus is overwhelming.

1 and 6, in both ears 1 all day long, 6 after I've played a gig, as I am a musician, 6 can last for several days. I've had it most of my life. It started back in 1977 as I was in a bomb in my hometown, Belfast, drove me nuts as a child. But I'm used to it now.
On a count of 1-10, if its quite I'd give it a 3-4 in a noisy environment with lots of people talking. Cars passing, sound can be distorted, I find myself shouting instead of talking. After a gig 6 I'll get that an 8 as it's loud

Both n loud. Unfortunately I lost my hearing aids. I accidentally put them in someone else's bag at a pool party. I can't afford the $425 until first of the year when my Medicare starts again.
that really helped most of the time. I played music for 25 years in bands n I worked construction for almost 30 years including jackhammering for days at a time, once the entire work week using toilet paper rolled up in my ears. Funny thing is that it wasn't as loud as it is so loud I can't always hear my own voice as good. My ears didn't get as loud until my late wife passed away. And top it off I got dentures that I still have problems with. Ty also,it's like number 1 but with the white noise.
