Arunima Tiwari right!? I’ve been saying it since I watched the movie the first time and saw the ending credits “OK BUT WHERE’S MY MOVIE OF THOSE 38 YEARS!? 😱”
@@milicullenhale These characters really do deserve it. @Ellen Habteyonas yeah, same. Because if you google "lesbian film" you either find porn or the same 10 movies from the 90ies or early 2000 you already know by heart
It's a little disturbing that this guy's pressuring of two women into effective guy-focused polygamy has been so effectively whitewashed into a "lesbian film"
@@MegaZeta No one in this relationship was a perfect person, especially not William, but it was a completely consensual relationship. If you don’t believe me, you can refer to the interviews with both Elizabeth and Olive.

So far in that category - I have only read fanfictions with poly ships, watched all of the amazingness that is Sense8, and finally this brilliant jem. I can't wait to see way more positive and well written stories about polyamory.
Most of this movie is fiction. There's no evidence Olive and Elizabeth were ever in love or involved with each other, and yeah, widows often lived together in this era without being involved. "Polyamory" is an anachronism here. By all evidence, this was a relationship where Marston used his power as a man to get what he wanted: two lovers for himself.

Absolutely adored that movie! (I know it might had it's flaws) but it depicted polyamory in a very real raw way. Without the whole hypersexualization most movies make it about. And Elizabeth and Olive just filled my heart with all the feels! I loved it!
This movie was actually based off of a book by Jill Lepore, a historian who did a lot of research about Wonder Woman's background which resulted finding things about Marston's life with his two wives. It's pretty amazing!
Why does it feel like Olive only agreed to this arrangement so she can be with Elizabeth because it seems like its the only way they can be together and for their work to continue. But maybe eventually Olive learned to love William too...
The movie made it out to be like Olive was in love with Elizabeth and agreed to also be with William because the two came as a package deal and later she learned to love him. In reality books about their autobiography and even recounts of their grandchildren say that Olive and Elizabeth didn’t actually have a sexual/romantic relationship with each other. They were more like best friends who shared a man.
@@athousandandonenights11 Biographies and family members can't always be trusted to tell the truth about non-standard sexual relationships, especially if the biographies are from a time before the 2000s or the family is trying to avoid what THEY may consider a scandal.

Because that's EXACTLY what happens in these relationships. Lots of sex early (keep him interested/procreation)... then suddenly he's the housemate to a lesbian couple.

I love this film but the one critique I have is the chemistry between olive and Dr. marston wasn’t there. It came across as olive really loving Elizabeth and accepting the three way to be with her. Considering they were supposed to love each other as a three way, it seemed uneven.
Good thing cats have nine lives and good thing that Jordan is so honest, she would ace a lie detector test.
