Just so you know, I poach eggs on the regular and the vinegar isn't really necessary. I personally always crack the egg into a small glass just in case it happens to be bad so I don't ruin the water. If the egg is good I gently put it into the water at a nice simmer. I use a spatula to gently move the egg as it starts to cook to make sure it doesn't stick. Bam. done. Definitely recommend doing it in a more shallow Pan like this woman did. :)
@@obijuankenobi420Respectfully, the comment was merely addressing that adding vinegar is not a necessary condition for poaching eggs, although it may be a sufficient condition. I am not sure how “standards of food quality” relate to such a principle, he is merely sharing his experience as a cook in which he doesn’t need to add vinegar. So this does not necessarily indicate anything about his food quality, in fact it may show his skill as a cook by not needing to use vinegar. The point is that your comment seemed to address “different qualities of food” when the person who commented was mainly addressing the fact vinegar is not a necessary condition for poaching eggs.
@@obijuankenobi420Based on your “blunt” comment, you are comparing your standards of food quality to the person who commented. But this is unreasonable considering the point is that you don’t need to have vinegar to make a poached egg, although you can use it if you like, indicating that it is sufficient although not a necessary condition for making high quality poached eggs. Now regarding me not being use to “blunt” comments, you have no evidence to show previous instances of my reaction to blunt comments so that claim lacks any evidence, and your claim that your comment was blunt is also invalid considering it was just a misguided comment. I do not mean any disrespect to you as I said, I just commented to share with you the fact that you don’t need vinegar to have a good poached egg.
Thank you for that my eggs are so fresh that it is hard to get out their shells when they are boiled(especially half-boiled). Now I have ideas of what to do about it.
I have backyard hens my eggs can’t get any fresher, they still spread out when I poach them. My side note is placing the poached egg onto a clean towel, gently roll or pat to dry then place on toast or plate.
My best friends are chefs, they boil the water, not a rolling boil i think but a soft boil, and drop the egg in a ladle and keep it in the water until its cooked enough, that way its fool proof and with clean edges and everything
A student served this to me for an exam and grated a bit of lemon zest on it - it was magnificent! The lemon complimented the fat of the egg yolk and avocado perfectly. Just a little tip.
Avocado is a good idea thanks for the inspiration. Also in Turkish cuisine we put garlicy yoghurt on poached eggs and it's called " Çılbır " I absolutely recommend.
I always just put the egg in a netal soup ladle then waot for the outside of the egg to set in the ladle. Then just let it slide into the water. Perfect every time
YK where i live they'll say that the egg is uncooked bc of the yolk idk how you guys eat it cause I've never tried it i want to but my mom will be like why are you eating it uncooked
My family has a poached egg pan. It has little plastic holders suspended over a water. It's pretty much the same as using a soup spoon to cook the egg.
@@obijuankenobi420 no, you really don't. what you NEED is a very fresh egg. vinegar cant save an old egg. i gauge the fitness of an egg for poaching based on how much egg white strains through a strainer.
So everything one does except creating a whirlpool? The whirlpool takes seconds and I've found that's a more foolproof method than just plonking it straight in
What matters more than any technique is getting fresh eggs. The older the egg, even if it isn't going bad at all, will be runnier and be less likely to hold together in the poached egg shape.
One thing you can do is try using like a scooper (the big ones for punch or soup/broth) and put the egg in it (put some oil if you think it'll stuck) and just place it in the boiling water.
There is a method even simpler that doesn't require vinegar. You just need to preheat the egg briefly to make the white stable enough. Then you put the egg into the water. Perfectly poached eggs everytime, you won't believe it. I made a 1 minute video on my channel if you're interested in the details.
Honestly the best way is to Boil the water Switch off the stove Put ur eggs in whole Take it out in 7 mins Crack it on where u want it to land . . . Thank me later FYI this is not my recipe
2 & a half minutes, thank you! those cowboy cooks who tell you 1 & a half mins are useless & balsamic vinegar laves a disgusting dark mess around the sides
My mom just sprays a metal ladle with pam and plops the egg in there. Get the bottom started cooking then gradually dunk into your water/soup. When done, it’s already in a ladle for easy removal. 🤷♀️😆👍
ACTUALLY *the easiest way is inside a nylon bag* You take a bag, brush one of the inside ends with oil, put that end inside a cup or glass, open the mouth of the bag, crack the egg, close the bag with a knot and put the bag in boiling water. You can attach the bag to the pot with a clothespin. And that's it. YW! :)
I made it all different ways you can crack and egg inside lunch bag tie it and put in boil in water. It gives it a shape than cut tie of and slide egg out

Side note the fresher the eggs the tighter the whites will be. This can make a big difference.
Also a hefty amount of vinegar

that looks beautiful! but i usually so use a greased ladle (so the egg doesn't stick to it) and just hold it in a boiling water for a moment
