I dont know how much you watch or know Glen Fricker from Spectre Sound Studios but he has done some fascinating tests on this and its wild what can make tonal differences and what will not make a difference in sound. Its definitely hard to tell because I dont think it makes a difference.
the SE does have a thinner sound and less low-end. I think those pickups are just known for being a little thin. Every custom 24 SE I played recently has felt a little anemic. My question is how was the feel stop tail on the P22 and the others. I am not a trem guy, so I would always go after the P22 in this lineup.
While I prefer the Floyd equipped guitars, because it’s the feel I’m used too I would pick the SE last of the group. For that reason. DW, P22 and then SE. I like the other bridges better personally.
Initially I thought they’d sound more different than they do. They’re very hard to tell apart. I absolutely love my DW! I wish I could get my hands on one of the original runs with the dark neck. Those are sick.
@@tyrannosaurusriffs I bought my Waring burst (new) through Reverb but it showed up with a major ding in it so it went back and got the Gray/Black on the second try that is a favorite. Yeah, those originals with the set ebony necks and DiMarzio pickups are sweet but they are the unicorn to find mint in person. Haven’t looked on ‘Verb for a while, probably shouldn’t but I’m a hard learner sometimes. Could you distinguish between the original & V2 Tomahawk pickups?
@@davej8045I’ve been looking for one of those unicorns for awhile. I imagine the price would be insane for one. The color you got is awesome! On your V1 - V2 question I’d have to have them in the same room to know if I could. But judging off the results of this video I don’t think I’d be able to tell! I’m sure there some differences though.
@@tyrannosaurusriffsWell, a dealer made me an offer on a new Waring Amber Floyd that I couldn’t refuse so I will be able to compare both versions myself.

I love watching Glen yell at me. It’s how I remember stuff! 🤣 it took me awhile to get used to him but he has a ton of knowledge.

I have the first generation D.W. and was still 0/3 in the mix, couldn’t hear much difference in articulation.
