    Thanks for your very accurate review. I just got my Mammoth and they played out as you had described. I had actually read other reviews both at RUclips and online that it's not a basshead earphone or that it's bass is not its strength. And some of these reviewers are users. I nearly changed my mind after reading their reviews as I'm a basshead. It can't be that they hear differently because they are using different DAPs (or mobile phone) or Amp/DACs as I found the Mammoth not requiring external amping at all. My only guess is they didn't choose the right tips because I too experienced low bass when the default tip was too big for a correct fit. This thing is a bass monster, the amount of bass it has running strait from my DAP is the same with my other earphones running with my external Amp/DAC with XBass enabled, totally unreal!

      @Science of Sound I don't deny the bass can be a bit overzealous at times, which comes in useful when listening to retro 80/90s mainstream pop recordings where bass is sorely lacking. That's the reason I use it primarily as my supplementary IEM for bass light recordings.

    How bass compares to Polaris 2? I had to sell them cause bass was so boomy and felt like an earthquake

      Bass in these isn't boomy, it's very tight and clean, so if you like a strong bass response but don't want that booming sensation, these could be up your alley.

    How does this compare to the Polaris V2. Heard a lot people commenting on how polaris might still be better

    I currently have a pair of Jupiter’s. How would these compare? Debating on these or the Atlas

    Any thoughts how this compares with the Dorado 2020? Is it a “poor man’s” Dorado?

    • @MajorHiFi
      @MajorHiFi  3 года назад

      High end brightness level/color on this is probably closest to the Dorado. They do have a somewhat similar mid response to the Dorado too. I'd say the Mammoth is the midpoint between the Honeydew and the Dorado.

      @@MajorHiFi Thanks! Approaching this another way, what is the primary difference between the Dorado and Mammoth? Is Dorado more V and Mammoth more W? I am a CA fan looking for a DD IEM and wondering if the Dorado would be worth double the price to my ears.

    I recently discovered IEMs and I own a few including Fiio FH3 which I like. Are there any other brands similar to Campfire Audio I should also look at? (Just ordered a pair of Mammoth from CA, looking forward to it!)

      Check out Final Audio, Kinera, and ikko. I have reviews of all their products on my channel.

      Im own FH3 too as my first iem. Pairing it with the new AK SR25 mk2. The sound output make my body hair standing up lol. But i really want CA iem for my next wishlist. Andromeda is damn expensive. 🥲

    I currently do have a pair of Campfire's at home and I really want to keep them but imo, the fit is just atrocious. The nozzle is way too long and does not provide a pleasant fit at all. If I put them in my ears, I feel like getting my ears cleaned at the ear doctor's regardless of what tips I put on.
    I'm thinking about trying some Final Audio IEMs, because the seem to be a little less invasive.

    • @MajorHiFi

      With different ear shapes and sensitivities, it is the sad reality that some company's builds will just not work with certain ear types. Final is definitely worth looking into, I recently did a video on the A4000. You could also check out Kinera, their comfort is pretty bang for your buck and they offer a wide variety of sound signatures, you can see reviews of their IEMs on our channel as well.

    How does the Mammoth compare to the Honeydew?

    • @ShadelessDen
      @ShadelessDen 3 года назад

      Is it worth the extra money?

    • @MajorHiFi
      @MajorHiFi  3 года назад +4

      Honeydew is like a more extreme version of the Mammoth, so while the Mammoth has a more subtle high/mid cut and low end boost, the Honeydew has a very extreme high/mid cut and low end boost. The Mammoth felt like a more nuanced, lighter version of the Honeydew to me. Honeydew feels less aimed at the audiophile crowd and more at general consumers, Mammoth felt more audiophile.

      @@MajorHiFi Thank you for the reply. I would mainly use mine for casual listening (hip hop, rock, techno, and pop), and for gaming. Would the Mammoth give me more sound stage and cleaner bass? I really enjoyed the Honeydew's, but returned them thinking I'd enjoy the build and sound quality that the Mammoth's give. The Honeydew's rattled a bit with some songs.

    • @MajorHiFi
      @MajorHiFi  3 года назад +1

      @@ShadelessDen Yes the mammoth definitely had a cleaner, wider sound to me. Be aware it's a pretty different sound than the Honeydew, a fair amount brighter and less sub-heavy, it's just the closest thing to it among the other Campfire IEMs. Sounds like the Mammoth could be right for you in any case though.

    hi there, im looking for a IEM which would be great for electronic music but a good all rounder as well i.e. 80s pop rock etc would these suit?

    • @MajorHiFi
      @MajorHiFi  3 года назад +1

      I listened to a fair amount of 80s and electronic on these actually so you're in luck. I found they did a good job of beefing up the low end on some of those less heavy pop productions and really captured the punchy, attack heavy percussion quite well. But do be aware they will smooth out the high end a fair amount, so that extreme shine some IEMs pull from electronic/rock, especially that from the 80s, will be a bit subdued. If you prefer a touch of darkness added to brighter mixes, these would be a great choice.
