8:34 the sound is the airplane's hydraulic PTU power transfer Unit. usually used on planes with two or more hydraulic systems. during take off when the pilot selected the landing gear up, the system pressure dropped in one of the systems due to high demand on the hydraulic system momentary low pressure caused the PTU to kick in the boost the hydraulic pressure closer to the normal system 3000 psi.
PTUs are used on planes like you said with two or more hydraulic systems, but on typically on nothing bigger than the 757 or A321 for Boeing and Airbus respectively. They are also not on 4 engine planes.
I've always wondered the same. Those are the screw jacks that extend and retract the flaps on the wings. They make that sound when they spin in the circular plane. Like a scissor jack to change your car tyre.
00:50 the first time i heard this noise was on a flight on aegean airlines to greece i scared the shit out of me and i thought the baggage hole door had opened her self lol
I flew on one of these with spirit airlines, when the engines were starting all you could hear was a horrid grinding, just like this, untill takeoff. what was that? (EDIT: I never included how nice they sound.)
Jay Birdd sorry I've watched the video but can't make out the grinding noise you were referring to.the earlier 'grinding' noise prior to taxi was the engine start-up. The dog barking like noise after take off is the H PTU that you only get on the A320. I don't hear any noise while taxing.
Yeah 330 is a wide body aircraft and thus has more powerful engines so I guess that's why this system isn't required, but it's just a guess. I'll PM you my email address :)
Hi guys, for those wondering what the 'barking dog' noise is, It's basically the hydraulic PTU that re-pressurises the system after a heavy task such as stowing the landing gear. Here it is: ruclips.net/video/9ffJgk1-tCA/видео.html
+Brian Su actually you do. I just flew the A321 from ORD to PHX on American. I have the video and u can hear the hydraulics re pressurizing.. I've flown the 330 as well, but can't remember if I heard it on that type.
I think the A320 and A321 have the same design? You won't hear this on the A319 and definitely not on the A330 :) Don't get confused with the sound of the flaps retracting as they'll sound similar once they reach the end of the travel and the hydraulically operated worm gear twists very slowly for the last few seconds.
MrAdy0207 that sound is the hydraulic Power Transfer Unit that only exists on the A320. The aircraft supplies hydraulic power using both engines. When the captain commands landing gear up, it consumes a lot of hydraulic energy so the PTU kicks in to reboost the hydraulic system's pressure.
+MegaAirplanelover Yes of course, once the landing gear is retracted, that process consumed so much hydraulic energy that it depletes the reservoirs thus the PTU kicks in to re-charge the pressure.
send me ur email. I'll try to send the video. it sounds a while after.. Captain used Flaps 3 for takeoff and for landing. usually they Calc Flaps 2 takeoff and Flaps 4 Land.. Again a different jet in its entirety.
I love this sound engine sound ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

hmm OK thanks for the explanation :)

Julio Romeresto Yup that's right. I didn't realise it at the time the video was made.

Excellent video !!!!!!!
Thank you mate :)
Very good take off

+Manaritzis88 Hahahaha :)
WHY YOU LAUGH ITS NOT FUNNY MAAAAN
Manaritzis88 relax. It's just the PTU which helps supply hydraulic power (Blue or green I think). It can also be used as backup if one pump fails
thats Ptu Barking
I can't tell if thumbnails are MSFS 2020 or real life anymore
Brian Su i look this video alsmost always i love this sound ❤️❤️❤️😱😱😱😱💯💯💯💯😍😍😍😍
Lol!!
Brian Su can you make more this sounds video from A320👌👌👌💯💯💯
very nice, was this flight in May 2013?
I flew on one of these with spirit airlines, when the engines were starting all you could hear was a horrid grinding, just like this, untill takeoff. what was that? (EDIT: I never included how nice they sound.)
Jay Birdd Hi, could you please indicate which sound you are referring to? what are the timelines on the video that contain them? thanks.
Brian Su The grinding sound during taxi, What I think of to be a dog like sound, or maybe hydraulics.

Brian Su Let me watch again.
Brian Su About 0:50 is something that heard on my flight.
that might be.. I'm a Boeing guy, so I was just riding back to PHX. it's a different airplane than what I'm used to.

+trashboat 675 Not at all. You'll hear it in the video URL above.
+Brian Su
Thanks for answer that, i had that doubt for some time. But i've never heard a similar noise with the Boeings or Embraers. Thanks a lot!
+Rafael Gonçalves You're welcome. You won't hear this on any other Airbus models either.

There are never dirty planes in Lufthansa
Ohh I didn't notice that. Good then.
what is the sound at 8:28

Brian Su Thank you very much !
MrAdy0207 no problem :)
+Brian Su I would usually say this particular sound comes only when the landing gear is ending retracted.
+MegaAirplanelover Yes of course, once the landing gear is retracted, that process consumed so much hydraulic energy that it depletes the reservoirs thus the PTU kicks in to re-charge the pressure.
Tres bien :D
1:36 Pilot: flaps down 10 %
Sorry, kid, that's 5, and not procents
Sorry, kid, that's 2 xd
its flap 1+F
Where is NCE?
You was very helpful
+Airbus Air NCE is Nice, just next to Monaco and also where the recent Bastille Day attack took place.
Hi, what seat are you on?
+Patrick Rodriguez 16F

+Greg Graham hello Greg, I can't send you a private message on RUclips. I think it's because your account isn't connected to Google+
the more heavily loaded this aircraft is the more extended flaps it needs
NO!!
