Hi, the PTU ist the "power transfer unit". Its a part of the Hydraulic system of the Airbus A320 family and connects the Green and Yellow hydraulic system. You can hear the sound if you start the second engine because the PTU is doing the selftest.

@@SkyTeam737 another thing is that it is basically a dual hydraulic motor/pump. So if one system looses pressure, it would drive one side of the ptu to pressurize the other and it works both ways

The PTU on the neo is shorter in duration and less frequent from what I've experienced
I think that might be the side effect of the engine being geared
Not all neos have a geared turbofan engine tho, only the Pratt & Whitney one does.
Yeah I figured my parents went on a non PW neo ones and the PTU from it has the same interval with the ceo ones I was lucky to get into a PW neo one lmao
