Some many anti gunners think police are well trained with firearms. Think again. After the academy, where the training is subpar for such responsibility, they are required to fire just 50 rounds per year to remain qualified to carry a firearm. I use that much to warm up my gun for a few hours of practice. I once work for a police department, 53 officers and a handful of detectives and administrators. I worked in a civilian capacity. One day it was "range day" and most of the department was there. I was the second best shot in the bunch. This included accuracy, proper target acquisition, speed, reloading, weak side, one side out of action (shot in the hand, etc), from cover, while moving, while target is moving, while both shooter and target moving. This was a much more intense range day than most departments run.....this one happened to be run by the regional SWAT member from that PD. It was disturbing to see just how poorly trained the cops were. Not their fault, the job says "do this" and that is what they do. These skills are hard to develop and take time and money. They are skills that should be mandatory for both public and officer safety.
I used to work with a couple or retired cops, and one of them told me a story about his former partner. They were trying to get a guy to be a snitch for the police department, and this guy's partner and the potential snitch were sitting in the front seat of a patrol car. Something did not go well, and a gunfight happened. IN THE FRONT SEAT OF A POLICE CAR. Both the cop and the potential snitch had revolvers (this was a while ago), and they both fired until the guns were empty. Nobody got hit, not even a scratch on either person. The cop won the fight, because he was able to reload, and the other guys couldn't. But how do you miss something that's only two or three feet away?

I have a buddy that teaches "arms proficiency" for some agency I can't remember the name of in Wisconsin. One time we were out with a few other friends shooting at their farm and he starts critiquing my "stance." Even though I hadn't missed the target, he comes up and tells me I need to put my feet shoulder with apart, bend my knees, stick my damn butt out slightly and extend my arms as far as possible before taking a shot. This is when I learned that he was an instructor because he felt it necessary to mention it after giving said instructions. I responded to this drivel with "no wonder police can't hit the broad side of a barn in a shootout. They only know how to shoot in PERFECT circumstances!! They aren't practicing for what they'll actually be doing, which is avoiding return fire, shooting one-handed, off-handed, or from behind something. You're not going to have time to "check your stance" and besides, I HAVEN'T MISSED YET!" I'm no marksman but my goodness that opened my eyes to a HUGE problem with police training.
Sounds like he's referring to the famous 1997 North Hollywood shootout, where the LAPD and two bank robbers fired over 3,000 rounds in a span of 44 minutes. Both criminals didn't just have body armor, they had pieces of armor wrapped around their arms and legs as well. One of the two criminals did in fact shoot himself in the end.
If I remember correctly, only the shooter that ended up committing suicide had body armor on the rest of his body. The other shooter was eventually incapacitated after being shoot in the legs by swat officers.
Sadly, future generations won't understand that last joke: give them a roll of quarters & drop them off at the mall (malls used to have 'arcade videogame' machines which would take coin currency to play them). 🥔😂
😆😂😁 Sounds good to be a Keyhoe brother. Cops can unload an entire clip & not hit you once. And if you fall you wont get bruised or break any bones 'cause you cant hit the ground
30+ years ago, I had a mfg rep at a gun show tell me how bad cops were at shooting...I thought he was exaggerating until I became a Deputy. I would practice at 7yd, 15yd, and 25yd with my service pistol. My fellow deputies were ok shots some really good, but the city cops? Holy Sh*t! They were horrible! More than once, we had to assist our city brethren with jams, FTF's etc.. I was literally scared to have them pull up behind us with weapons drawn. That's the difference between growing up around guns and not...
No one really knows how bloody true this is. I attend a rifle club on a frequent basis and it is honestly rediculous how bad these people are with a pistol. The police train at 7 yards away with a man sized target and still manage to shoot the frame on the outside which is an honest foot and a half from the centre target. Under ideal conditions mind you. I don't care what skill level someone is, that is just sad and goes to show the police have no idea how to shoot and yet these are the people we depend upon(esp. in this country) to defend us. The Australian NSW Police force needs a major overhaul in its firearms training program. I'm currently a novice pistol shooter I can keep an inch or two group at 25 metres with only 1 hand and I've only shot 3 shoots. Whilst it is harder than it looks it can't be seriously hard for cops to shoot even half decently.
I have about a month left in law enforcement. I would love for Ron to set up a ride along with me. I would seriously let him say all the things I would get in trouble for. Gett'em Tater Tot!!!
Feb. 2018----World of difference between actual gun owners vs cops & gang bangers. As to gun owners, there's 2 types: one who likes shooting at targets, the other are hunters. As to the L.A. bank robbery thing Ron talks about, never understood why the cops didn't shoot either of the 2 robbers in the thigh as a head shot is difficult when the target is moving at best. And now, after the Dallas cop shooting, cops realize how vulnerable they really are.
With the life and possible death situations that cops are subject to, you'd think they would practice to the point where they could shoot a cigarette out of a person's mouth...I've seen highly skilled competition shooters ..with six shooters...do exactly that at twenty plus yards...not expecting that kind of result, but come on...a little more practice could save your life...the point is not just to barely qualify at the range...it is to become so proficient that you might just save your own life with one shot...Ron is absolutely right...
They don’t get enough training and they don’t invest in their own practice. If I was a cop you can bet my first paycheck would be for ammunition and practice. My brother is a cop and use to teach handgun safety course for ccp. He shoots well . But he has shot many thousands of rounds that just didn’t happen over night with a badge as a target on you need to rethink that training.

I'm watching a documentary on this shootout right now and saw the shootout... Then suddenly remembered this part of Ron White's routine. Watched it back and sure enough, this is the exact shootout he was talking about. Nearly woke the house up laughing.
There's a whole lot of truth to Ron's comedy. In my city, officers must go to the range on their own time and must furnish their own ordinance. As a general rule, 95% of officer's only interaction with their sidearm is when they are qualifying ONCE A YEAR. I'm an instructor and have a general rule for cops: DO NOT attempt to save me if I am being taken hostage. Cops will end up killing me, and remember, they cannot be held responsible for hitting the hostage because of limited liability issues. I watch, daily, officers barely qualifying to carry a sidearm. If you're a civilian and attempting to qualify for CCP, if you fail the first practical you must wait a significant amount of time before being able to re-qualify. However I have seen Sergeants allow their qualifying troops shoot a dozen targets until the officers has finally gotten a passing score.
Though there certainly is some truth to this, from someone who did a total of 3 combat tours in Iraq beginning with Desert Storm, when the shit hits the fan, things are 1000% different then they are at a range. It is a very different situation when there are bullets coming back at you. I have never been to a range where they have people shooting back at you. You don't always have time to use your sights, the Army teaches also you how to shoot reflexively by sighting down the seam of your M16 hand guards.
I never mentioned this,, but my Department had a cop who was transporting a subject, get into an unauthorized pursuit - with a subject on board, EMPTIES HIS GUN, didn’t hit ANYTHING- NOT A DAMN THING…NEARLY killed the poor slob in the cage from the bouncing around on concrete style hard plastic and all he got was beach time…. It was 30 years ago and I can’t remember this part but I think the guy was NOT charged , because he spent time in hospital and had been a virtual hostage. So, if folks think you’re making it up, sad to say you’re not 😎😎😎😎😎

It takes practice to be a good shot. It takes cool calm thinking to shoot under pressure.
Perfectly chosen words; absolutely true
Sadly, future generations won't understand that last joke: give them a roll of quarters & drop them off at the mall (malls used to have 'arcade videogame' machines which would take coin currency to play them). 🥔😂
Ron is right about the cops who dealt with the Kehoe brothers. Those cops could fall and miss the damn ground.
😆😂😁 Sounds good to be a Keyhoe brother. Cops can unload an entire clip & not hit you once. And if you fall you wont get bruised or break any bones 'cause you cant hit the ground
@@magnificentmuttley154 No, they can't. Cops dont use revolvers or rifles that use clips. They mostly use those crappy gloks and they use magazines.
They sound as good as storm troopers lol

“Man these guys are elusive!”
So Freaking True...Jeez!!
Looked up "rediculous" but couldn't find it.
@@mwilliamshs LEO cope-post.
Go on
Glad I have my tall boots on. 1 inch groups at 25 meters with 1 hand? I think not
I have about a month left in law enforcement. I would love for Ron to set up a ride along with me. I would seriously let him say all the things I would get in trouble for. Gett'em Tater Tot!!!
wgec8 ;
Ron's Tater Salad.
His son is Tater Tot.
I guess Poot is his youngest.
I guess Tater Chip is in there somewhere! 😂😂
They call him Tater Salad

Love reading the "pro-cop" comments, the reason their all pissy is because everything he said was true,
It ain't humour if there ain't some truth to it.
im pro cop
but even i laugh at this cause i know this shit is true
Wait was Ron talking about the LA Bank Robbery?
Ron White: Texas' nature treasure. LOVE this guy!
Where is Ron White ? I miss him have not seen him in a minute.
I think he announced his retirement
You wanna know why Cops can't shoot
20 years on the force
Never pull their weapon
And when they do
Well you heard Ron
The cops who can shoot are probably ex-military.
After watching this, did anyone else have a Chevy Suburban commercial came on??? lol
Like the A Team on TV. Hundreds of rounds fired, nobody ever got hit.
many cops are lazy and out of shape too. this guy ran from a squad and the cops pursuing him were out of breath after 2 blocks.
The shootout that Ron was referring to was the North Hollywood shootout back in ‘97
It's funny, but the Kehoe Brothers are dangerous people. To be fair, the Kehoe Brothers couldn't shoot any better than the cops.
I watched the same shootout. Thought the same thing. But I've never been in a shootout either
"Nice Shooting Elmer Fudd" x'D
I think Ron is talking about the 1997 North Hollywood shootout when suspects had body armor .
Sounds like there might be more than 1 Barney Fife out there.
too bad Ron retired, he was great
@0:56 Me every time I see a Mexican standoff on TV or in the movies.
Ron White common denominator when he has trouble with the cops = HE'S DRUNK ! ! !
You are just freaking hilarious lol I saw you one time at golden nugget in Louisiana and you were awesome but you wouldn’t sign my shirt lol still love you
saw this guy at the local safeway at the checkout stand. at first i just thought he was some guy cracking jokes to the cashier; and by the time i realized it was him he was gone. i was too focused on buying my beer i guess.

What’s really kind of pointless is people who comment on videos and just quote lines from the video. Yeah, we know. We just watched it too.
Maybe just want to emphasize on it lol
Or maybe they think there are dead people watching

Afterburner... Your ability to throw in your 2 cents to comments 2 years old is uncanny.. How do you do it??
He's right, though. Why do people repeat what they just heard? It's odd, to say the least.
jlg395 I honestly cannot disagree.. But after 6-8 months there aren't many good reasons to leave a comment anyway,, let alone a couple years!! Lol
human beings have a constitency to point out the ovbious
When Reagan got shot, they blamed the would be assassin's actions as being 'learned' by watching horror movies. So they stopped using human actors as the 'villans' and started using the doll 'Chucky' I swear to God.
Best comedian ever period
hes talking about the 1997 bank of america robbery
Those guys did not even play video games. They were hard core criminals that had a prior arrest record yet the damn court system let get out and gave them their guns back. Commiefornication for you the time they're supposed to use gun control they don't.

I dont get the roll of quarters and drop them at the mall part
to play video games
This dude is stupid. You know to play shooting games to learn how to shoot and actually hit the fuckin target. ffs
I notice only now how much his accent has changed over the years.
The A-Team was a docu-drama 😂
It happened in Pulp Fiction. A guy unloaded a .357 at point blank range and hit nothing. It was Divine Intervention though 😋
If you watch that Pulp Fiction scene closely, you'll see bullet holes in the wall BEFORE he starts shooting.
(I thought his son was called Tater Tot...)
He's got two boys. I know them both.

Hey Ron! California doesn’t have State Troopers. They have the CHP.
Just love Ron . He makes me smile and tells the truth..
It was 30 years ago and I can’t remember this part but I think the guy was
NOT charged , because he spent time in hospital and had been a virtual hostage. So, if folks think you’re making it up, sad to say you’re not 😎😎😎😎😎
Haven't actually witnessed it yet. But I find it hard to miss at 25'. Of course at the range and nobody is shooting back at me. Got Bianchi brass in 72. Was still in high school fast draw duel single action revolvers 38s bored out to 45 cal wax bullets.
Give those guys a roll of quarters an drop them off at the Mall. Hay Poot Good shot. Lmfao!!!

That was a great shot. You got him right between the eyes. I was trying to shoot him in the leg. You're aim was high. So was he. He didn't see that coming.
Ron is da man! How was the show last night?
I remember that episode of those Cops and the guys in the white van, shooting at each other and no one got hit.
