I'm a noob and I've tried Warrior Monk Warlock and Feral but I am loving Unholy DK. Its more my speed than the other specs I mentioned. I have a feeling I will like Ret Paladin so I plan on leveling one in the next timewalking event. Seems like its relatively similar to Unholy DK.
Thank you for the guide man, really love this. Is there any way to get some 3v3 solo shuffle or regular arena videos too? Not sure if you've done them often for this patch or not will go look but it would definitely be sweet to see everything in action.

Awesome guide! 1 question, which burst rotation would you recommend if you are the kill target? At my (low) CR/MMR I feel like I'm the kill target often and find myself having difficulty generating pressure when I have to stop to use defensives, attempt to LOS, etc. As an aside, a small guide or quick voice commentary on an arena gameplay matches where you were the kill target and managed to survive/counter-pressure would be awesome! =D
Try to get as much vers as possible so you can tank a little more damage, cc one the DPS that are pressuring you specially in solo, it will give time for you healer to help You, and try to run "one shot" builds (like this one) all you need to generate pressure is to cause a lot of damage to whoever is the target or whoever You have at hand (if the target is too far away from You), once You do it they won't feel too confident to go for you because you are going to retaliate in full force, so they will give You more time to breath (great mistake for them) do not hesitate to use your burst even at the begining (You Will get it back soon some classes have to use their burst more wisely because it can have a lot of CD, but 30 or 40 seconds which is the time that takes winds to come back is nothing and depending on your build you can even get free winds from time to time) or even use inmune if you have healer, because if you are able to land all your burst from the get go thanks to your inmune, they will have to use defensive CDs too and you will be at advantage in the long run because You can heal yourself and if you time your defensives good enough you have 3 defensives against anything (inmune, shield of vengance and shield of protection) and 4 against melee (+hand of protection), also You can get the fuck out of there behind a column if nessesary too with the paly's skills.
Masterying the art of pressuring ans backing off is hard I know, but once You get the timing as paly retry you will dance like a butterfly and hit like a truck. XD

Great detail and explanation. One question: Why are you running the engineering helm with straight versatility over the Verdant Gladiator helm with vers/mastery?
There isnt a significant difference in damage between the two helms but you do get a little bit tankier and increase your heals. Ret mastery is just a worse version of versatility, and despite the stat DR it feels worth the trade off to me right now.
Great video, wanted to ask about rbgs strictly which talent build would be best for 2k+ games, also no set, 2 set or 4 set?
Since you are quite frequently the target in rbgs id say the full vers build imo
Hey Lvladen, great video as always. I'm seeing a lot of top people use vanguard of justice and I find myself doing a lot of damage with it, but is there a clear cut reason you suggest not using it in arenas?
It can be valuable if you are running a higher haste build with less mastery but since I am running so little haste sometimes I am resource starved so I tend to not run it. I will play it if playing crusader or templar strikes builds though. But in general not many top paladins are playing it. You can check talent statistics on murlok IO its still in the "gray" for usage.

I am a returning player to WoW after 10 years. Can you make a video that breaks down the spells and why you choose them in the order you do? I am lost with how the paladins have been restructured with holy power and such and am just lost. And yes I resumed my old paladin instead of starting over and know starting over is probably best but am hopeful to find a Lvl 70 paladin guide for returning players. or maybe someone link me a video of a really good explanation of holy power and stacks?

Hey Guys! I am pretty newbie on pally and overall on pvp still trying to figure it out. My question would be, if i use crusade with final reckoning combined in a macro for easier handling the rotation, do i lose significant amount of dmg or it is not that big deal? Id recommend practicing having a bind for crusade and a bind for final reckoning. After a day or two you will be used to it :) good luck!
Got any decent talent builds for strictly duels? Along with pvp talents to choose for that
If you were going for pure 1v1s honestly a haste build with repentance and searing glare might be ideal haha but I’ve never tried that for duels. I’d just stick with the vers build imo
I notice you have 10% Speed without the enchant for cloak or bracers. Is there an enchant on another piece other then boots to hit that number?
Likely from tertiary stats that rng’d onto my gear from the vault. It’s not active in arena.
How do you socket your bracers, belt and ring?

Buy a natures cradle with 6 tokens from filling the vault with minimum 3 slots.

I don’t have a simple answer for that sorry but that question is covered pretty extensively in the video. In general I play no set or 2 set.

Talrnt called adjudication I believe. Every time hammer of wrath crits it sends a divine hammer out

Yo, i'm new to ret, in PVE, they stack alot of haste, then versa, then crit. Mastery is last on list, ofc it would swap with crit in this order since its nerfed. Why dosent haste-ret builds work?/Why do they do no damage, yet in pve its max dam

Nope, holy is magic. Radiant is holy/fire damage but also magic.
Okay so.. for running 4 set, I see a LOT of people on the leaderboards rocking like 40% haste. I've copied pretty much the same gear pieces but I'm just so lost on how people are getting such high haste. Any ideas/help?
may have found out the issue.. looks like leaderboards are kinda messed up. showing 42% but stat weight is at like 2.5k ish or something like that

Its an armory bug, I have 19% haste in pvp combat :/

yea i make that belt clasp and even i don't see why the hell it cost 13k on my realm or any when we started it was like 6 grand tops.it's really not hard to make.also i played unholy dk in season one first time i ever did real arenas how do you think palli compares this season i've done some pvp here and there but i've killed more pallies and warriors because they wanted to box it out but this season my main is a palli and its my very first palli in 14 years of playing this game i love how they do right now in pve but they feel like flavor of the month with everyone and their momma playing one.i play melee regardless im never going to play a caster or healer EVER.

Maybe because he is min maxing and sometimes the set don't allow you to have exactly the stats you want, but with all that mastery and vers he can tank a lot of damage and hit like a truck, I use the set too and I have notice that ret play do need a lot of vers in order to don't die that easily, and the set is good enough if you aren't that hardcore into min maxing stats. XD
so basically just copy your talents and do whatever we want, got it.

Mastery is rets 2nd best stat in pvp
pvp thing - crit isnt full value / and haste doesnt give too much burst, where mastery does.

I cant tell if this is serious XD haha this is the first guide I've put out since my 10.2 guide in which I also say to not use the set bonus. I've had discussion videos on the set bonus, but even in my most recent one its just talking about the experimenting that I would be doing going into the week of the hotfixes. At the end of the day there are multiple ways to run ret paladin right now that can all lead to success. If you dont want to run the versa build and want to play the set bonus go for it! I quite frequently find myself still running the 2 set when I want a little extra haste.

i hate to say it ret is shit right now those buffs was not enough and im getting the worst lobbies ever when from 16 positive 2074 to 1700 left a game or two but sill and orst of all is mmr and qs

That’s rough, but Ret definitely not shit right now. It’s probably high A tier imo. Ret team just came in 3rd in AWC this weekend. I think if anything’s it’s underrated. Certainly has some tough match ups though, but generally does well into rogue teams which are popular right now.
@LvladenPvP number 3 that's it we gotta come harder than that 🤣 but na I'm just talking shit because I had to leave two games tonight to reset my mmr went from 1600 to 1926 tonight 11 games positive now ima squeeze a 20 key or two in but I think our damage is decent at times still not on the level I think of demon hunter a Rouge when bursting or monk or even a boomkin ele shaman or warrior at times but I think our defensiveness is hurting the most we need that 10% back on wall 🧱 to make it 30% and we could use that 1% heals we losing on heals and our 5 % Stam back from sanctified plates then last but not least mmr like it's OK to put 0 mmr mfs in my 1900 lobby but not ok to put my 1900 ass in a 2200 lobby so when I win I get Hella points but instead when I lose I lose alot because the mfs in my shit
The macros dude..what the actual fuck, you have double of everything and it makes no sense. I get not wanting to click or key everything, but hiwndo you set all that up and know what you're doing? I see consecrate in the top right and that's something I make sure to keep up so I have it as #1. So lost dude
Any duplicates of my non utility spells are just so I can see them better or for old looks. But I have 3 of every utility/ healing spell so I can press them without targeting myself or teammates. Typically it’s just one bind with a shift modifier for party 2. You don’t need to do this unless you looking to really go for a high rating push. Mouse over macros are fine otherwise. And even then some gladiators still use some mouseover spells.
