Most likely it's going to be this way, and get worse going forward. The hotter the ocean, the stronger the storm. Mostly anger at the Republicans and the State of Florida for allowing development of those Keys and islands that are natural barriers to the mainland. How stupid to allow development on those sand bars because that's basicly what they are! The ocean will build them larger if they were left alone uninhabited. The bay of Tampa would have had a protected barrier reef if left the area alone 70 years ago.

Some people aren't reachable. Hopefully not too many. The rest of us need to outvote them and get to work eliminating fossil fuel use and other practices that produce greenhouse gas. In 2017 the US converted almost 2% of our grid electricity to wind and solar. If we just doubled that effort we could eliminate coal and natural gas use in about 15 years. Wind turbines and solar panels have improved a lot since 2017 and become a lot cheaper. For about the same money we spent to get that 2% converted we should be able to convert about 4%.

Typhoons in Japan still tend to quickly lose strength after crossing over land. A curious exception this year was No. 5 (Maria), which took an unusual course and made landfall in the northern Tohoku region, where it maintained its typhoon status until it reached the Sea of Japan. No. 10 (Shanshan) was supposed to make its way from Kyushu all the way up Honshu, but stalled out after it passed over Shikoku. Of the 18 typhoons so far this year, those are the only 2 that have hit the Japanese mainland, although a few others like No. 17 (Jebi) have skirted Japan, or just fizzled out in the Pacific, like No. 6 (Son-Tinh).

Americans have a mixture of empathy and anger towards Floridians. Empathy, because of what these horrific hurricanes are putting the entire state through, as well as anger for supporting MAGA Republicans in fighting against policies that would help lessen climactic issues.
don't pin this on FL. :/ there are states all over that are red and i think we are squarely mad at all the people denying the reality of climate change. plus there are some BIG pockets of blue and we don't sign up for the maga BULLSHHT. (like palm beach in south fl.) we're all mad at MAGA, let's be real.

Florida is all sand and limestone, the water will flood and run off into the ground and put a bunch of water into the aquifers after a few days.
I think the part which frustrates and saddens me most is that there will STILL be people who will continue to stubbornly and ignorantly refuse to acknowledge the reality of climate change, EVEN right after they've lost loved ones from this disaster.
There's no hope for them. The rest of us must move things forward.
Just as they denied the impact of covid and even coughed and spat in people's faces. Their inability to comprehend anything creates fear, and because they are afraid, their reaction is to lash out in anger.
They lost loved ones during covid as well, and they still were not convinced.
For about the same money we spent to get that 2% converted we should be able to convert about 4%.
it's already like that. and people saying stupid things like this was cloud seeding, to make them worse. like for WHAT? create disasters to prove climate change fakery is real? that's what they are saying and implying. it's NUTS!! i hope more people wake up to climate change after this. FL is ground zero for that with the hurricanes but in other parts it's the drought/floods, etc.
