I think they're being nice so I want to shed light on how the UPCAT is severely behind state university entrance exams within the US. The major issue is it's literally textbook based not critical thinking. I passed the UPCAT back in 2013, but was given the choice to study abroad, which I took. I got three recommendations, University of Texas, West Virginia, and California. What I realized was taking their entrance exams was how modernized their academics were compared to UP....make no mistake UP is great but it's only standardized in comparison with community colleges state side. Aside from the UPCAT, the admissions committee also considers the grades of a student applicant from the 1st to 3rd year of high school, in order to be accepted to UP. There are a limited number of slots or quota of students per course as compared to the number of students who apply.
there's no calculator in UPCAT, as I remember it was around 4 to 5hrs to take the exam and the number of items are 40 to 70 items per subject (depends on subj) so the ratio of time to a question should be max of 1 min : 1 question but it was way back 2014 so I can't remember clearly.
25:30 That is because UPCAT is not really designed to determine your eligibility/ability. It is designed to weed out as much people as possible so as to only fill the limited slots. That’s less than a third of the actual length of UPCAT though. Haha, your final “score” is also 60% test and 40% high school GPA. And it is true, they subtract 1/4 pt for every wrong answer that’s why we’re told to skip a question if we can’t answer it. aside from passing the admission test, i believe they have quota courses with limited slots. if you dont make it to the cut, your option is to take an allernative course
The answer to your Math question #2 is also letter C. 64 (32*2) , 4th SQRT of 64 is 4, Mutiply the X and Y (their exp must be added) = X to the 6 power and Y to the 3rd power then SQRT them = 4x SQRT of X to the 2PWR and Y to the 3rd PWR
imma be honest, i asked all my UP friends about the UPCAT to compare and we all agree that none of us know how we got accepted to UP lmao like i didn't finish my UPCAT coz of the right-minus-1/4wrong rule (1 point deduction for every 4 wrong answers) but if you don't answer a number, the checker doesn't count it in the grade so it doesn't consider it as right or wrong (aka no minus)
what i disliked about UPCAT was that there were questions in Math and Science that were not in English 😅😅😅 they were written in Filipino 😂😂😂 took UPCAT in August 1995 ... once ur in UP, ul never forget ur student number since ul use it more than ur name in exams 😉😉😉 and if i remember it right, the passing score required for a quota course is higher compared to a non-quota course.

That is actually not the hardest entrance exam. What makes it hard to get accepted in UP is the number of examinees and the slots available. Only the highest scorers get the slot, even if you passed.
UPCAT is honestly not hard. What makes entering UP hard is the competition. You're not just aiming to pass the test-- you're actually aiming to be at top percentile of all the test-takers cos there's limited slots. But the test itself, I wouldn't consider it the hardest.

That’s not the hardest exam. The UP College of Law exam is harder. The second test is a panel interview with professors. And I’m sure the UP College of Medicine’s exam is even harder. There was no middle school in the PH in my day, so 15-16-year-olds took the UPCAT. 😬 Also, the UPCAT is a 5-hour exam and have 60-100 items in each section. So you can’t save Math for last ‘cause you’d be exhausted by then. For passing, even if you pass, that makes up only 60% of your entrance. The other 40% will come from your GWA in high school. So, you’d had to have been working hard from the moment you step into high school. I think only about 13-15% of around 90,000 applicants are admitted.
Make sure to check the end to see how we did!
(the green check doesn't mean we got it right, just our answer)

- "ng" is pronounced similar to "nang" (not "naga"); they're written differently based on context
- Proper translation of the sample question: The Bayanihan Dancers is a *famous* group of dancers (
That's top 10 most tragic things I've heard
UPCAT is scored at "right minus 25% of wrong" basis so if you are not 100% certain, leave it blank and return to it if there's still time. no answer is not wrong. i think i passed that admission test because of that 😂😂😂
aside from passing the admission test, i believe they have quota courses with limited slots. if you dont make it to the cut, your option is to take an allernative course
This was a brutal exam. Left me traumatized for a year.😂
Here in Philippines we still take what our major subjects in highschool (eg. Science, Math etc) in college except it's for our minors only.
Isaac are you still in the Philippines because I didn’t see you going around somewhere in BGC or makati
he lives in QC so you'll have to go to SM North/Trinoma
The answer to your Math question #1 is letter C. (0,1) is also (X,Y) if you substitute the value on equation 3 it will be equals to 4 😇
The answer to your Math question #2 is also letter C. 64 (32*2) , 4th SQRT of 64 is 4, Mutiply the X and Y (their exp must be added) = X to the 6 power and Y to the 3rd power then SQRT them = 4x SQRT of X to the 2PWR and Y to the 3rd PWR
I wish we can collaborate with other people during the exam.
imma be honest, i asked all my UP friends about the UPCAT to compare and we all agree that none of us know how we got accepted to UP lmao like i didn't finish my UPCAT coz of the right-minus-1/4wrong rule (1 point deduction for every 4 wrong answers) but if you don't answer a number, the checker doesn't count it in the grade so it doesn't consider it as right or wrong (aka no minus)
When I saw the math calculations, I was like, "Nah, I'm not passing for sure." 😂😂
During our time, it’s right minus wrong….
You can do it! "Two heads is better than one" 😁👋
Wow😲
what i disliked about UPCAT was that there were questions in Math and Science that were not in English 😅😅😅 they were written in Filipino 😂😂😂 took UPCAT in August 1995 ... once ur in UP, ul never forget ur student number since ul use it more than ur name in exams 😉😉😉 and if i remember it right, the passing score required for a quota course is higher compared to a non-quota course.
You two are really smart. I'd rather scrub bathroom floors than take that exam! 😂
Passed the UPCAT years ago and I don’t remember any questions. LOL. The trauma was real. 🤣
Since the idea of multiple intelligences was discovered, I stopped caring for just the book smarts. Witty people just have a different brand of smarts.
That is actually not the hardest entrance exam. What makes it hard to get accepted in UP is the number of examinees and the slots available. Only the highest scorers get the slot, even if you passed.
I passed the UPIS and the UPCAT exams in elementary and high school. But I never enrolled at UP
how about other universities in manila?
I have a classmate who is going to UCLA and having a hard time with algebra, you are better than him at your age
if you could pass the UPCAT test.
that Filipino part hahaha cuteee accent
Flunked the UPCAT 15 years ago. It was way easier to transfer into UP though.
Surprisingly, I find ACET more challenging than UPCAT.
I agree. ACET was magnitudes harder than UPCAT. I heard somewhere that it was designed to not be finished within the alloted time limit.
btw what happened to filipino boo? why isn't he uploading anymore?
UPCAT is honestly not hard. What makes entering UP hard is the competition. You're not just aiming to pass the test-- you're actually aiming to be at top percentile of all the test-takers cos there's limited slots. But the test itself, I wouldn't consider it the hardest.
My gosh, I can't comprehend the Math subject 😫 at all 😅
Science questions in Filipino was the hardest! Of course I didn’t pass the UPCAT
Hey, can you give an update on Korean Boo. We havent seen him lately.
i saw him and the gf at their tteok-roll shop at the SM North food court a couple of weeks ago. i wish he'd resume vlogging!
He's just been feeling food in SM North and he may make another video again soon
@@TriFatePH feeling food?!
This should be fun! ✍️📝⏳
I’m an oldie now and exams like this my stress level is up the roof. I had to cheat in the end 45 mins to the time. I think I have unresolved PTSD from college exams like this. I’m nervous now 😰😰😰
Oh…. Wait a minute… Tyler… TYYYLLERRRR… is there something you’re not telling us? 🤨🤨🤨 💍🤵🏻♂️
Are you going to study in UP for uni?
I passed the Upcat in 1972 but decided to enrol in UST HIGH . UNFORTUNATELY I SUCK IN MATH 😂😂😂😂😂 however other subjects I would ace it. I just dont like math
Wow! You guys are not stupid change the Title, I am not good at math.. good thing my math teacher is my friend, I passed HS😅😅😅
Compared to American SAT score I think SAT score is far more difficult.
Isn't UPCAT scores right minus wrong?
Book = leaves. Because pages are called leaves too.
It's not that difficult, it's just that there are a lot of students taking the exam and there are limited slots
That’s not the hardest exam. The UP College of Law exam is harder. The second test is a panel interview with professors. And I’m sure the UP College of Medicine’s exam is even harder. There was no middle school in the PH in my day, so 15-16-year-olds took the UPCAT. 😬
Also, the UPCAT is a 5-hour exam and have 60-100 items in each section.
