Thanx for showing. I love the look and the way the made the keyboard work. That can gives the proper experience. For me the physical touch and feel is as important as the good emulation. So I love this kind of stuff. I think I need to get one of these when they get a bit easier to get. I would prefer the experience of walking into a shop and buy it if I can. I know Elkjøp has sold their earlier releases.
after a very hard debate, i decided on a raspberry pi 400. figured could do more and if i really wanted zx mayhem, i could use emulators. but congrats on the purchase! enjoy it :)
This is an emulation box, the same thing you can do on RPI 400. Unfortunately the ZX Spectrum bare metal emulator support only support Raspberry Pi models A+/B+/Zero/ZeroW, 2 & 3 which is a good thing, you can recycle all this old boards on this kind of project. Emulators are the cheapest and the easiest way to get into ZX Spectrum mayhem, no wonder why this was chosen by Retro Games Ltd to power their spectrum.
It is all about personal taste and opinion. The true to form format is alluring, and irresistible to me. Since there is no need changing the hardware, the box with this version is a good option for me. I can use new versions of Raspberry for other things, like autonomous systems, robots, and modular droids. This belongs to the nostalgic memory of The Spectrum.
I think the music from Manic Miner is a part of the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg masterpiece “I Dovregubbens Hal”. I’m pretty sure you have hear it before 😊
Thank you for the Spectrum test 😊. I am waiting for my own machine, hopefully arriving in a couple of weeks (I live in Denmark and have ordered it at a Danish computer store). I also have some original Spectrum machines, but more for decoration and I wanted on to play without all the hassle.
Those repro keyboards are made in China and and can be bought as parts on places like retroradionics. I think the Speccy is assembled in China too. Saving on costs.
Nice one mate, this looks mint as I'm a big speccy fan too. I had, and still got my original 48k case, also got a plus 3 spectrum which still works to this day 👍 Maybe I should do the same and buy this?
I wouldn't use a controller unless the keys are bad. A lot of the games early on the speccy, the controls were the keyboard, I prefer using the keys from my early experiences in the 80s. I would use the keys opqam, they were my favourite easy keys to use, it can't always be perfect with emulation too mate 👍
zx spectrum thought we left that where it should be, in bottom of some box and forget about it. No keyboard, no gfx chip, no sound chip. So do we want that back. ? Not me please continue with the msx repair love to see that.
Well, i have the C64 Mini the 400 and they 500 but somehow the spectrum really does not bother me that much even though I have even built the harlequin 128 myself. Maybe you can even use a Bluetooth Adapter and a Bluetooth Controller😁
The speccy needs a more squared resolution such as 1:1. On a wide screen so much real estate is wasted. Back when the speccy was famous, we didnt have wide screen tvs. However, we had RF in the UK, which was an abomination video signal for the 48k. People composite mod originals these days, but I'm glad we have hdmi.
Did not have time to test that. I also know you can replace the rom(s) that comes with The Spectrum with the originals. Supposedly that should fix some issues

You will be happy when it arrives :)

Ok, makes sense
You made a good choice to not strain the original hardware any further. Enjoy. Nice video.
Yes, thanks
Manic Miner music was totally correct. It is a 40+ year old game. Amazing really.
Yes, I guess. It sounded off tune. Maybe I forgotten it :)

Definitely worth the price I think

You have to manually assign the controller buttons in the setup menu individually for each downloaded game. You just have to do this once.
But it worked after power off.

It's a fun little gadget for those that have nostalgic feelings for the ZX :-)
You can get Bombjack as a .z80 file. But if you can't find it, load a tzx file in emulation, and save as .z80 at the select controls screen. Easy.
Thanks!
I want that shirt. Where did you get it?
eBay. Long time ago.

I guess. Did not try

Rrise and shine, mister Freemen, rise and shinnee

Epic!
Thank you :)
Saving and loading of basic programs is almost completely broken. I hope RGL can fix it.

Firmware 1.0.2 is massive improvement for saving and loading basic
@@revietech5052 Already installed :)
You used the German for 'whats up/ whats the matter
Do you have German ancestry or were you just using a phrase?
Hehe. Just something I say sometimes. Like "schnell". We saw a lot of Derrick back in the day on Norwegian TV
No controller supplied is simply to reduce cost and packaging.
Sure, but I would like to have one anyway, even if it cost more
