Agree. This album shattered the musical orb I was living in. I went on a learning spree with guitar and drums. But my guitar never could sound like this album. And let's be fair, my drums neither.
Always liked that Black Flag ‘Slip it in’ nod at the start of ‘song for the dead’. This might well have been the exact moment caught on film of Dave coming up with it!
One of the best songs off one of the best albums ever, and part of the writing process boils down to - do it focused, then do it f-ed up, yeah 8 of that 4 of this, yeah like that - try to act like you sucks a drumming for a few fills...brilliant.
For those who asked, this footage was on a DVD included with the Songs for the Deaf CD. I know because I bought it, but I've moved so many times I don't even know if I have it anymore.
Obviously there’s no way to determine what the best bands, albums, and songs are. Still do this day I can’t stand AC/DC but they’re still considered one of the greatest bands. And I’m sure some people think QOTSA suck. But songs for the deaf, has got to be the best rock n roll record of all time. InmYoPIniOn
@@benqvug He got drunk ass on absynthe in a Barcelona gig and started throwing stuff to the crowd, also he was a conflictive band member as far as I know so they got him out
Studio kits are just whatever the studio has or what the cartage service brings. Lots of guys with endorsements use different stuff in the studio to get the sound the producer wants.
MrPorkker Yea I mean Grohls playing is fantastic! One of the best rock drumming records in that matter but the sound is bad. I think its too tiny and dry
Holy shit I’ve grown so tired of this joke. It’s a damn near 20-some year old joke that everyone makes when any video of Dave grohl pops up. Bro get original.
Tom Bryan they used really bright "salt shaker" microphones in conjunction with others when recording guitar so that they could get a range of tones they could dial in
Hands down one of the greatest rock records of all time. So fucking good.

@@satevo462trying to recreate their tone led me to so much knowledge and learning just how things work. They’re the quintessential modern rock band
just making the best album of that decade, that's all
Just ur opinion, that's all.
It was great absolutely, but Deloused on the comatorium was also released within that decade so, it’s one of the best!
@@shadesofmalice98 What was the point of that
It's been two years, has that been enough time to realize how pointless that was
seeing Dave and Josh working shit out put such a smile on my face
Even in studio Lenegan appeares out of nowhere. Is he some kind of a ninja?
so cool to see the dudes working shit out, i love shit like this! One of the best post grunge records ever!
he is actually asking him to be sloppier
Damn, this footage is gold
Are you watching closely boys and girls? This is music history in the making.
3:10 see how Dave is focused .. "got it !" .. he's really a professional at his work here

Go to 3:40. Has anybody heard the cue "fucked up" on Song for the Dead?
I always wondered what that was, now I know!
