She is doing a great service by informing people why permits are important. People sometimes do not want to pay the xtra money or deal with the hassle, but end up paying more in the long run.

I think it’s almost impossible to make an older house perfect, and that’s what makes your home unique. Yes some of the windows and doors may not be as level as they should be but in a sense that’s what gives your home character. Don’t get frustrated, you may just have to except that you did the best you could. I’m enjoying your progress, keep up the good work!🌺💚🙃

Thank you so much for saying that - I needed to hear it! The little quirks do make it unique ❤️ I'm so glad you are following along with me!

Ten percent for contractors to start and spread the rest of installments in small increments payments and work should be completed before last payment. For shower pan i use roofing paper lath and decking mud. You can get mud from Floor and Decore .

Great post! Question: did you tile your Tile Redi pan with thin set or epoxy? Please keep posting progress videos. Thanks!

Never pay 50% up front. 35% tops. Then another 35% and the 30% upon completion. Renovation is way harder than new construction. We saved up for 15 years and are nearing the end of our remodel and addition. Around 100k in it and we have done all the work. But I'm a contractor and electrician by trade.Dont second guees yourself. Alot of this stuffs common sense. Do your research buy the right materials and buy the right tools or rent them.

Thanks for posting, you've shared some really useful infoon the tile redi product. Im considering this for an upcoming masterbath renovation. Just wondering how it's holding up. Thanks again!

never walk on your redi pan when your setting it just push it down by hand and make sure it is level.

considering this system but i have no access below, so a little concerned with limited time i will have bonding the PVC drain and setting the tile redi pan.

FYI you're misinformed on the permit process.
Permits get pulled by the contractor once a contract has been signed and a deposit has been given, 1/3 of the cost where I live. No contractor is going to pull a permit to do work on your property if you haven't signed a contract and given a down payment. Permits cost money and no contractor is going to pay for that out of pocket without having those things in place first. Depending on the work to be performed, plans have to be drawn out, copies for the city / municipality for approval, copies for the property and a copy for the contractor .
If the home owner is pulling the permit ,also depending on the work and municipality, then yes you can do it how you said in the video.

Permits aren't free town's city's charge a amount per square footage or cost of job. So the video isn't accurate.
