  • The UK has become the first major economy to legislate for a ''net zero'' target for greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
To achieve that, people in the UK will need to face the challenge of adopting a low-carbon lifestyle.
For two weeks, Sky's Helen-Ann Smith found out how her life needed to change to reduce her carbon footprint - including becoming vegan and giving up her car.

The reporter is slumming it for two weeks for the report before more than making up for it afterwards and ignoring everything.

Meanwhile in the real world the newly arrived economic migrant, hasn’t come here to consume less than they did in their homeland.

The entitled laziness on display here when it comes to this journalist getting around town is really astonishing. Car culture is destroying cities and is killing the environment.

@@propergander8509 I would agree with your cynicism. Majority will do nothing or not care which is sad. Need the gov. to force people to pay for CO2 they produce - carbon tax on all products.

@@__Wanderer That carbon tax is pretty useless though, unless it goes toward capturing 100% of the carbon either chemically or through planting new forests...

@@propergander8509 It's not useless. Increased prices will lead to lower consumption, pushing the economy to low-carbon alternatives.

Try changing regulations for corporations. Acting as if the general population is the problem does not fix anything.

I want to see this changes coming from the corporates that sells the products in the first place. Let's get to the root of the problem.

The root is the consumer not the corporates... if there was no demand then their would be no corporates... but then there would be no jobs.

ugh, sure well all make efforts, but we also shouldnt feel guilty about consuming more in our times of need. besides, once carbon capture is perfected we wont need to worry about emissions at all. however saving water gas and electricity are morals that should be upheld.

    • @Stwinge44

Makes sense, but we should be wary of consuming what is unnecessary. Also, remember lobbying is important. Sign petitions, attend meetings/protests.

The camp along the river there is a good idea. it just needs proper porta-potties and some help with food and water. They should let them stay. Find meaningful work for them. Those cops get paid too much for standing around writing tickets.
