@@bakuto.1055 It is really hard, but I don't think it is close to be on the top 3 hardest etudes. ;) (my opinion is based on the existance of Meraux, Alkan, Sorabji and Godowsky etudes)
You can tell by their faces that the kids back there on the first row probably are the other contestants :-P Great performance, this piece is tough as nails!
@@Pogouldangeliwitz it’s actually a surprising clean performance for his age. Tempo is suitable, double notes are clear, he sings out the melody. The double notes are cleaner than trifinovs and are about the same speed.
@@cziffrathegreat666 I think that's exactly what they were thinking. It's even written on their faces LOL. i would like to see other competetor's performances as well though. I have no idea what kind of competetion this was.
With someone who studied piano for a year succeeding in playing something like this, it's the band that will be the best player in the world, it's the hardest thing in the universe seen in the piano
before you start practicing the piece, try warming up with czerny etudes and other exercises to build up your technique. then expect to practice many more hours than you normally would and pay very fine attention to every detail and play so slowly that the piece is barely recognisable. remember, 1 hour of strong attention to the music is better than 5 hours of fucking around.
Having played this and the other transcendentals I would say skip the czerny. No need to learn exercises which teach you just to play exercises. Build technique through pieces always. You need a certain level of playing under your belt to attempt this and even so parts of it are treacherous. Learning some of the chopin etudes before these are useful but working on anything that requires dexterity eg bach, mozart, beethoven etc all useful. Learn some of the other transcendentals like chasse-neige / ricordanza first to get the feeling of the liszt leggerio technique required as a similar lightness of touch and dexterity is required in those. They're hard but this is even harder. Lots of slow practice required but always ensure movements you make slowly are the same as what you will do when playing at tempo. Sometimes it is even best to exaggerate those movements.
The beginning is even very difficult. What is this psychedelic scale that is so confusing? It took me two days to figure it out. It's psychedelic. Then there's this quick trick with the hands to reach such speed. It takes 13 years on the piano, and of course you have to practice not to talk about huge hands that need to be cut off after a long time. Aggresby and hard after that it's a completely different story where the real difficulty starts with a piece whose name I already raised my hands it completely blew my mind
@@hansdekorver7365 I think it's more of a matter of taste. Kissin's version is faster but also lighter which some may prefer especially since this a bit of an experimental piece with which, Liszt was playing around with impressionism.

This is really a master level performance, I’d be interested to hear the level of playing of these other performers at the competition!
This genius mastered this piece totally
I love his technique. It’s looks like his hands are dancing
With Liszt your hands need to dance or you ain't playing it.
O yes, I love it too. He plays so cramped and over and over mf!
You know the competitors are screwed when they hear the introduction and realize it’s feux follets
Oh they just need to bang out a godowsky-chopin etude or a good cziffra transcription...
Yeah, I’m sure anyone in the audience realized this was Feux Follets.
What about the S.137 version (basically the same I haven't watched all of it)
Yeah they go something like aww shoot I'm not gonna win this
spanish fantasy solos
This was such an amazing performance ohmygod!!
Truly amazing performance

Deadass crowd. This man os playing one of the most toughest piano pieces mankind has ever known and they're sitting there like nothing ever happened.
