Very cool. I just want to confirm. When it's plugged in to the monitor, you can still control from the box as well. So you have control from both at the same time? 🙂 great video
Hi Jimmy, based on your review I picked up the monitor from Amazon, however the ultra fails to output to USB-C. Connecting my MacBook Pro to the monitor, worked straight away inc touch screen control. Has Version 2 done something to stop the Yolobox Ultra connecting?
Just tested this again based on your comment, I'm on firmware 2.0.4 and the touch screen usbc monitor out works as it did in this video..... Did you turn on usbc out? (that's a setting in the yolo, by default the (non power) usbc port is set to input, you have to tab it over to make it an output) 😊
@@JimmyTalksTech Had the Ultra set to USB-C Out, Just tested with a new 20Ghz 3.2 USB-C cable and now works fine. Many thanks for the heads up. I'm using 2.0.0 on the Ultra but the upgrade is reporting I have the latest. As you are on the 2.0.4, just wondering if you did that directly. Hope to keep seeing the reviews and how you use the Ultra! The areas I'm interested in is how to use the JPG picture option. It says you can use 1 but have 10 so not sure how that works atm. We would want to use many pictures and can see we can use the second monitor from my MacBook Pro as an input into one of the HDMI's and then dropping a picture onto the second screen. Would rather use the pictures on the SD card. Another option we would like is to have, is to transfer a comment on live feed to a lower third banner. That would be good to know. Keep up the good work!
@@chrispitt362 are you in the yolo user Facebook group? If not you should join that, prob better to got through your questions there than here on youtube. As for the firmware. 2.0.4 was pushed to my unit early as I'm helping them trouble shoot a frame skipping and audio sync bug.
Jimmy, great find. This pull me from the Obsbot talent to this. Quick question, how many NDI sources can pull into the Yolobox Ultra? More than 6 - 10?
Thanks for sharing! We are having issues with our Yolobox Ultra touch screen and I'm going to give this a try. Do you know if this would work with the Yolobox Instream? (vertical formats)
Nice one Jimmy! Having just watched your Podcast studio setup video, where you demonstrated how you use an Atem black magic with 3 HDMI camera inputs as well as the coaches laptop feed... I would love to see that whole scenario all over again, but this time done with the Ultra instead of the Atem to run those podcasts.. Do you think the Ultra would be able to handle it? I hit subscribe, keen to see more of your work! Its awesome!
I'm gonna do a similar set up I a couple of weeks and use the ultra. It will handle it.... But the main issue with the ultra I'm having is the inconsistent frame rates.... The team are working on optimising it.... Buts it's an issue... How big an issue is subjective
@@JimmyTalksTech Jimmy do you have an interest in ptz / ndi cameras for this kind of work, either the new Logitech/Mevo Core (launching 19th) or Yololivs Alphacam (unsure when that’s available)? I’d reach out to Frank at Yololiv if I were you, they seem keen to want to get people interested in there new cameras to compete against Logitech. Those two companies are about to strongly compete with each other for this category niche of work that you do.
I use wireless hdmi all the time to send a camera signal back to yolobox... But the only way to have touch screen control working with a monitor like this... Is to use usbc not hdmi (wired or not l
🤔Very scientific actually. 📜YoloBox Pro specs state…. ‘TYPE-C 3.0: A fully functional interface supports input”. USB-C 3.0 does not support DisplayPort & does low power charging at 5v 15W (5v 3 amp). 👊😎You just proved they upgraded that USB-C port. It looks like it possibly will be a more stable & versatile. 🤪Now the question is… 😏Did they upgrade the power delivery USB- C port? Can you use more than a 15w charger on the Ultra? So that power is not drawn from the processor & RAM to power your touchscreen, cameras & other USB devices. 👎Low power leads to bad performance & stresses the machine.
Thank you Jimmy for the video! Looking forward to see more hacks and tricks on how to fully utilize the YoloBox Ultra!
More to come!
G'day Jimmy mate. great video and tech. New Subscriber here Cheers from the other side of our great planet DownUnder somewhere in Western Australia
Much appreciated 😊
Good looking out homie, definitely going to try this.
It definitely adds to the functionality / usability of the yolobox....
looks awesome
Well.... It is... And it isn't... I hope to do aong term review in the next few weeks... Stay tuned!
This is insanely good! Thanks.
No worries 😊
I'll be uploading a long term review of the yolobox ultra in the next week of so...
@@JimmyTalksTech Great! Can't wait.

Yeah you can still control from the box as well as the monitor
I bought the ultra its brilliant!
May I know where you bought it?

Good question... I haven't actually used the touch monitor since updating the firmware... I'll test it over the weekend...

Also for the usb touch / monitor mode to work, you need to be using a high speed usbc cable (tb3/4.... 20Mbps or more iirc)...

I avoid ndi if i can mate (personal preference)
@@JimmyTalksTechThank you for the input and again great input. But do you have the answer for the questions.
@REC.709@REC.709 i Googled it for you. Apparently its 3.
Fascinating. Does it keep the main top HDMI using usb-c DP alt-mode? Can you dual screen?
Currently no, the usbc and hdmi are linked and have to show same output... However I know the yolo team are looking to change that

Not sure... Don't have an instream to try but I can try with my ultra in vertical mode...
What do you use to shoot your blog? It’s a very good picture, could you tell me what camera and optics it is?
Panasonic gh6 for the face camera, Panasonic GH5S for the top down.

No problem!
program out in the yolobox pro
From usbc? So you'll need a usb c to hdmi? It won't transmit video and power from the pro like it does in the ultra.?
Have you tried using a wireless HDMI turned that work?

I'll double check but I'm sure Ibe used a 40w usb to power the ultra. Have a shoot tomorrow, I'll check.
