Beginning Thursday 11/24, and running through Sunday 11/27, Watch all 90 episodes from the first four seasons of the Emmy Award-Winning, hit series on HLN!
The West Wing is now streaming on HBO Max.
Intense and dedicated presidential advisers get their personal lives hopelessly tangled up with professional duties as they try to conduct the business of running a country with fictional Democratic President Josiah "Jed" Bartlet. Развлечения
The Paul Revere knife. I know it's coming and it gets me every single time. What a show. What a cast. Man.
"Made for my family by a Boston silversmith named Paul Revere" I love this show
Was Paul Revere a uk spy.
I literally just said the same thing.
Charlie isn't paid that well and got a sister to look after. That knife went on ebay ;)
Still a bit sore he didn’t deem his daughters worthy enough
The Paul Revere knife scene gets me every single time
Every time here too 😢
Me too!
(Making me 😂 though is when President Bartlet finds out about the Butterball line 📞)
Every single time.
Yes, one of the greatest scenes in TV history for mine.
Gets me, too. Especially the look by Charlie, when the name attached to PR is revealed.
‘Troy doesn’t like to be touched.” Camera pans to Troy, Troy slightly steps away 😅😂🤣
That turkey knows his cues!
Can we just take a moment to admire Troy's amazing comedic timing at 1:43
And he didn't even get *into* the University of California at Berkley!
I love the look on Charlies face when he finds out it was made by Paul Revere. Priceless
Still can't believe Donna went along with putting the turkeys in CJ's office.
Lol
I grew up watching this show and now it’s tradition to watch all the thanksgiving episodes on thanksgiving and all the Christmas on Christmas. I am brought to tears every year by this tradition and have since I was 13. I could just feel with every year the near end of my family as we grew older and began moving away. Now, its just me and its the only thing I look forwards to.
Just finished all the thanksgiving episodes for another year!
2023
CJ being completely oblivious to the turkey-pardoning on Thanksgiving is another weird blindspot for her character.
Yeah it makes no sense at all that the White House Press Secretary wouldn't know this.
Well she was sick, only the second year in office, probably didn’t think to ask about the inner workings of an event she hadn’t coordinated yet. It seems a pretty insignificant aspect of her duties, but I could also be putting more thought into this than the writers. 😂
@meghanbrooks3990 All I know is that I haven't worked in the White House for one day, and I knew about the turkey-pardoning.
@@ASimoneau I’m Australian, so I have no clue about any of it. 😭
Toby just going with the insanity…priceless
The Paul Revere knife - My interpretation of why the President gave it to Charlie is that he knew Charlie was feeling horrible and guilty about the shooting earlier, even though it was totally not his fault, and, despite his feelings, was carrying on valiantly doing his job. The gift was Bartlett’s way of conveying that he loved Charlie like a son, and yes, was proud of him.
I think your interpretation is right, Charlie did feel guilt even though there was nothing he should have done to avoid it. Charlie Young is such a decent, upstanding character in the series and the knife was such a meaningful gift for the son Bartlett never had. The ending of him getting into Georgetown Law School (via Bartlett's recommendation) was a great one!
Best show Ever. This scene is wonderful. Love the relationship between Charlie and the President.
The great Ana Gasteyer as the butterball turkey line operator.
I had never watched this series before the pandemic. I got HBO Max free with my internet. It was amazing and now I watch it once a year. The first two seasons have some of the best episodes ever put on television. The knife scene is amazing and well done with the process Charlie went through.
Same here! West Wing aired when I was 10-16 so I had no interest in the series. From March 2020 to now 6/1 /23 I love this show!
I cry every time Charlie is gifted the carving knife.
Bartlett is everyone's dad and I love him for it.
Oh what a great show that was. TWW and The Sopranos TV's golden years and now we have wall to wall reality shows and cooking programs.
And in one gift, Charlie's home contents insurance goes through the roof!
He probably put it in a safety deposit box.
"This was made for my family by a Boston silversmith named Paul Revere" - Boom! Deepest and most profound US history there and to be given as a gift to a non-relative? Damn Charlie - you better invite the president someday to your family's Thanksgiving so he can see you use it.
I think that was the point - it’s passed down from father to son, and Jed gave it to his favorite son. I think this might actually be when Charlie becomes his son, just like how Josh became his son during the campaign after his own father died.
@Aslyn Well, it certainly didn’t go anywhere on the show. After Charlie asks Bartlet about getting more serious with Zoey, the storyline got completely dropped. There’s no further mention of their relationship, and Zoey only makes maybe 2 appearances in season 7, and none with Charlie. One of the many storylines and characters that just vanished in the last 2 seasons.
Troy has impeccable timing. That little side step away from cj.
I have watched this show over and over again and still don't tire of it.
Right? Definitely a well used selection in my video library
Same!
Can we have a president 1/2 as good ever!?!
Writers will never equal this no matter how much they're paid. This show was written with love. Can't you tell.
Every time he gives Charlie that knife I tear up 😖
President Bartlett and Charlie with the Paul Revere knife gives me all the feels. 💕
If i ever have to use a fake names its going to be Bethersonton
with one T and there's an H in there
Martin Sheen said the skit with the Butterballl lady was his favorite
The Paul Revere knife thing... When there was a shooting at the White House, and Charlie comes bursting through the door to the Oval Office - I always thought Charlie should have yelled DAD!
I think that would have been a whole can of worms that would have taken away from the immediate moment. Someone has taken shots at the White House, and the president's personal aid comes bursting in with some kind of Oedipus Freudian slip, what do you focus on?
Still, every time with the PR thing. It hits right in the feels. Such a great show.
I agree wish it was still on. A great group of people making a great show.
Mrs Landingham was wonderful.
Which is why my cat is named for her!
Fun fact: They really do bring in two turkeys each year and choose one to be pardoned. The good news is that the "loser" doesn't wind up on a dining room table. After the ceremony, both turkeys are taken to a petting zoo -- often to one in Virginia named, ironically enough, Frying Pan Park -- to live out their lives getting fat and happy (and, presumably, pet a lot.)
Watched this in its entirety 4 times.
Quite simply THE GREATEST US TV show of all time.
The OC is a distant second.
Sublime!
" ... is there a chance I could kill my guests. I'm not saying that's a necessarily a deal breaker." In seven seasons of mega snark and sarcasm, that has to be in the top ten.
Just keep on giving us more clips of this show. It's the best
The knife scene needed the other context. for the whole beginning of the episode bartlet had charlie running all ovee the place trying to find the perfect knife...because he knew he needed to replace the PR knife he would be giving to charlie.
this show was before my time, but is now my favorite show.
A turkey stuffed with cornbread, oysters, water chestnuts and andouille sausage would be a mess
That was excellent, we should it every year!
This was the best. Simply the best.🏆
I love that scene too but also the scene where they call the butter ball hotline
Glad to watch this show.
Thank you very much.
Great show
“Charlie, get me the Butterball Hotline.”
😂
Brilliant.
“No, no. Look behind you.”
Bartlet loved to torture his staff. 😂
"Good a place as any to dump your body. Long pause...did I say that out loud?" LOL
ok let a 42 year sausage maker clear one thing up!!!
ANDOUILLE SAUSAGE if not just ground and seasoned comes (when purchased)
ALREADY COOKED!!!!! SOOOOOO!
The hell to Thanksgiving day, nothing but fights there.
Can I please get a West Wing reboot with Rob Lowe and Allison Smith?! PLEASE as the current situation of the world evolves and they, and their staff handle it with many walk and talks?
Sam's a straight white man, so no, Hollywood has no interest in making shows where he's the hero
You do realize that at the end of the show she was married & had a kid? And Sam was engaged?
Joe Bethersenton. Phil Buharnd.
Pruter Street...not to be mistaken for Pruter Lane or Pruter Way...
When CJ finds the turkeys in her office, they gloss over the fact that the office would be covered in turkey shit. 🤢
Chandler was good in this series- showed his acting chops
2:40 Points for effort, Toby.
Apparently there is a lot of voice over work for "products" in Fargo, ND.
"....Butterball has a hotline?"
Trump pardoned a lot of turkeys during his term. The were named Paul , Rodger, Mike Flynn, Rod, Joe Arpaio,Scooter, George Papadopoulus, Charles Kushner(sound familiar), Steve Bannon
9:28 2nd greatest moment of the whole series!
Now on All4 in the UK So free.
No offense to everybody else on the show, but Alisson Janney made this show.
Agreed!
"I'm Joe Bethersonton."
I always wondered how much Butterball paid for the product placement? 🤔
TROY > E-ROCK
I don't understand why the Butterball hotline would need a name or address...
I know everyone nowadays is jaded about becoming an entry in a database but I’d imagine for the era of the show it was simply to annotate personal details in case you called back.
It's not needed. But it makes for a funnier scene.
Marketing.
For as knowledgeable as CJ is how would she not be aware of tradition
Coriander? What the hell Jed? Are you making turkey tacos? Turkey curry? I expected better from you
For the record the spice mix that Jeb demands the turkey be soaked in strikes me as awful, pretentious even. Great President, lousy cook.
lol

A bolster would not allow for sharpening the entire blade. Unless you use a block.
@aslyn8943 I mean I have about a dozen but Charlie doesn't strike me as the type that would even know what one was. Still cool knife.
@@kajemi2 Maybe Charlie didn’t know much about knives at the outset, but he’d just spent several days researching every knife available for Bartlet; he definitely knew pretty much everything there was to know about knives by then.
@@flyboy152 a bolster would not allow you to sharpen the entire blade. It keeps you from cutting yourself.
@kajemi2 What does that have to do with my comment? I just pointed out that after weeks of researching every knife out there, Charlie would be an expert.
@@flyboy152 he wouldn't. I've used knives my entire life personally and professionally and I'm not an expert.
One of the few episodes where they really stretched the bounds of accuracy/believability too far -- as if CJ -- the press secretary -- wouldn't know not only that the president pardons a turkey every Thanksgiving, but that the person in her role has to choose between two turkeys. And because she was out sick the year before? Come on.
Is the reason he gave the knife to Charlie that he had no sons of his own to pass it on to?
That is correct.
He had sons in law - but I think he was much closer to Charlie. Also, he had reason to hope Charlie might end up being a son in law but he cared about him either way so he chose to give it to him early. Also, he had other heirlooms for his daughters - this was one that was both important and small enough he could just hand it to him.
@@julieenslow5915 At that time, he only had one son-in-law, whom he could not stand. So, Charlie was a far better choice.
@@flyboy152
Good point. But I don't remember any good reason he had to give the Revere knife or any other gift . Charlie was not expecting a gift at all. I can not remember a motivation that would explain why he did it then, except for his personal regard for Charlie.
I don’t think it really had anything to do with him not having a son. I always assumed he gave him the knife in acknowledgment of Charlie’s dedication and loyalty, especially in the face of being the almost victim of a hate crime. True, he never actually got shot, but he was the intended target. Plus, he knows Charlie never had a father in his life and his mother was shot and killed.
Cute parody of the US custom of presidential turkey pardoning! But the stuffing in those turkeys sounds vile and bacterially risky (Oysters? Sausage? Does this actually happen?).
Re the AI Trading ads for schmucks that saturate RUclips these days: The 'breakfast at Dior in Paris' or whatever it was just screamed "hey poor, desperate, brand-obsessed people: you can live like this too" which is a totally ridiculous proposition, they're not gonna share some 'guaranteed' money making technique with you, they'd be making it all for themselves! But there is one born every minute I guess which is their target market lol.
I think their market is the smug, Neveau intelligentsia who absolutely must find a way to dump on every YT video with what is their attempt at humor. Which fails every. time. they. try.
@@marcot3333 Who are you actually talking about? By the way, it's spelt "Nouveau" not "Neveau" - that's not a word. And capitalization is a thing in English, followed after a full stop or for proper nouns.

You wait.
Hey Bartlett, oysters, you can't eat them, it's a sin, breaking God's laws. Ditto for bacon, shrimps etc.
He’s not Jewish, Dr Laura.
@@lizziebkennedy7505 Who was that man who said DO NOT THINK I CAME TO DESTROY THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS. I DID NOT COME TO DESTROY, BUT TO FULFILL. The same man then said 'NOT A JOT NOR TITTLE OF THE LAW SHALL PASS TIL HEAVEN AND EARTH HAVE PASSED '. So many millions will be told by this man 'Depart from me, I never knew you, you worker of lawlessness '. REPENT SINNER.
first and early
It's moments like Bartlett giving Charlie his family heirloom that makes me forget they're democrats for a second.
I’m happy for Charlie but that’s lowkey sexist. He shoulda gave the knife to his daughters. Oh he can’t because they’re girls? Please!
Did you listen?
@@coldformer1 apparently they did not. These Gen Z peoples are to sensitive.
Can the Harry Potter actors return to Leavesden? It's not a movie, it's a TV show. It is called The New Adventures of Harry Potter and its first episode is called The Next Famous WB Character: Movie Edition
Or we can forget JK Rowling ever existed!
Bartlett is evil, and not because he's not right wing
get to the point. Enough of the build up. stopped watching.
Huh? Build up?
WTF are you babbling about?
