The song and video are perfectly balanced, invoking tones of hope, sorrow, acceptance, and finally redemption. In 4 minutes I went through an emotionally rollercoaster for this poor little antiquated bot. I feel like I watched an award winning short film in the drama category.

I am a HUGE fan of both Escape Plan & The Midnight. Had no idea they knew each other or that Escape Plan was still making music. I remember binge listening to their songs a decade ago when I lived in China.
When it opened the drawer with the charging cables, I felt that.
It would have hit harder with a drawer full of auxillery cables no one uses.
@Fruit Slaughterer those cables were old and worn out. He needed a fresh one. It’s supposed to symbolize our need as humans to keep Forging new and exciting relationships with different people, so that we stay connected to the world. Otherwise, we might end feeling lonely or “ obsolete”, like the robot/ android did throughout the video.

There's something wonderful about a song and a vibe that's almost deceptively familiar yet new. I think that's what meant by capturing a moment in time and that's what this does.

The Midnight's motto and core ethos to their music is precisely that - "mono no aware", or "a sense of nostalgic wistfulness and the awareness that nothing lasts forever".
Older generation people in China faced the biggest and most dramatic change. From the Maoist era worker beliefs to the modern day westernized capitalist society. Many people have had massive conflicts between the two mainstream ideologies while the younger generations are lost in this world of materialist madness. This is a song with nihilist properties and a upbeat lyric, basically telling those who are lost that everything will eventually be ok.

As a Chinese fan, this collab means so much. I’ve been listening to escape plan since 16, and I can tell you those guys are so big in china as new generation rock band. So hyped to see they have guts to explore a genre they’ve never done before, nevertheless to say with one of the best synthwave group of the world. I love the midnight to a extent I can’t even describe, hope one day they will come and play in China, I’d pay everything to see them.

This song is so relatable to the current pandemic situation over here, the nurses and front liners are underappreciated and disrespected at. People keep abusing them and fail to understand the hard work they have to undergo to keep the day going for the rest of the people, at the last part of the instrumental is where those frontliners are heading home feeling tired and beaten but the only people who care are those minority out there who show love and respect. I am proud to say I am one of those people who care.

Once I was seriously ill and I was losing my strength just like that little robot in the music video. I went to the hospital and met a nurse there who helped save my life with her care. In the music video, the robot at a pedestrian crossing meets a little girl who in the future saved it at the end of the music video by giving it a cable to charge its battery. Just like in this music video, when I was young I met a girl who seemed very intriguing and worth my attention, and subconsciously I knew then that she was important to me, she was pretty and unique. Then she became a nurse whom I met years later in the hospital, and just as this robot received a cable, I received drip tubes from my nurse in the same way. As if this music video and the story in it were about me. it's very strange because I first heard this song without the video and I liked it very much during my stay in the hospital. then, when I recovered, it turned out that visually it was talking about me. Such a strange coincidence :). This nurse's name is Kasia. I greet her warmly and thank her
2 seconds in and I was in love. Took me that long to overcome the shock of awesomeness that I was initially hit with. Really well done to all involved.
