Several years ago I had the pleasure to meet Mr.Tyson. I was his driver when he came to town for 4 different trips. I normally never want to "bother" the celebrities when I have them, but I tried to squeeze out every bit of convo I could while I had him hostage in my vehicle lol. Nothing too deep, but he is genuinely one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He did a sold out show here in town, and as I patiently waited for the security to bring him out of the side alley way entrance afterwards, he came to make sure I was there to get him back to his hotel. There was a bar directly across the street that many had gone to after the show. A few people realized he had just came out of the building and rushed across the street to say hi and ask for pictures. Most celebrity types get in the car head down so fast noone ever sees them, but he stood out there at a late hour after a long show and talked very generously to the small crowd of people. They were all so excited and happy they got to meet him. After about 15 minutes he got into the vehicle again to go back to the hotel. I felt like the lucky one that I had him all to myself to chat a bit more. The next morning I picked him up and drove him to the airport and off he went. Again, just as nice as anyone could possibly be, and a very generous tipper as well. I have met quite a few people far more "famous" than he is, but to me he really stood above them all. Joe Rogan, please get him back on your show soon!!!!!
When he speaks of objective truth and the truth and laws... I'm curious about what he thinks about all this transgender craziness... Anyway great story, glad you met him, glad he was a generous tipper and nice! I've always liked him.

I once asked my College Algebra teacher the "Why are you teaching us this we will never use it in our life?!" With a little grin he told me: "I know you will never use it. I'm teaching you how to think". Let me just say He's one of my favorite teachers ever
Things like that are rare. I had 1 teacher in high school who refused to let any1 stop learning it impressed me. Then I. College there was 1 man I wish I could talk to him. The way he would explain things was mind blowing...and would breaking down into tiny steps so every1 got it. Those are special ppl
I truly wished the educational system would give us, just as much years of dry education as they would give us years to get interested in something. There are so many smart people that are broken before they get to learn the cool stuff. I wished they would listen to Neill.
I think I might've learned more from a month of listening to Joe Rogan than in my entire highschool career Update: sweet christ people take youtube comments too seriously
But he never EVER admit to be wrong. Look at 1:47:25 he could have just said "oh, thanks Joe, guess I never thought about that", but he just kept on arguing to prove his point. He didn't even accept the solution Rogan gave him, he rather be right than solve his problem. But I really like him though, I'm just pointing a minor mistake.
Yeah, Tyson was overjoyed when Sean Davis blew the whistle on his bull shit. /s www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2014/09/27/neil-degrasse-tyson-admits-he-botched-bush-quote/ Neil deGrasse Tyson was pretty much forced to acknowledge his false account of Bush's 9-11 speech. It was getting lots of publicity and it was very obvious he was wrong. However other examples of his wrong history have been brought to attention. And he's done nothing to acknowledge his errors or counter the misinformation he has spread.
@Jonata You can say that about anybody so it doesn't matter. Based on his energy, and extreme interest in his subject, why would he have any reason to be a terrible teacher? And he is literally an educator.
I would'nt say wasted as he has gotten fans from the comedy world, ufc, tv(fear factor), and when starting his podcast he had a huge variety of fans wanting to listen.

Tyson is always worth listening to. I got a laugh because yeah, Rogan is pretty educated, but when Tyson comes on you get to see Rogan veg out and listen.
I had a teacher in high school, Mr. Uncles, who said, " the only way to fail this class is to fail to think outside of the box." That statement changed the entire way I have approached life. Don't let the institution of learning, institutionalize the way you think.
Bless that mans soul. I love that philosophy. Too many teachers fall into the category of understanding that they are indeed under paid and know they have years on end til they can earn a pension so they fall into the loop hole of losing the passion that had them pursue a career in education in the first place.. teachers like the one you mentioned simply love to teach and that’s amazing.

If teachers could speak like Neil, learning wouldn't be boring. I don't usually watch podcasts but I've seen enough shorts of this podcast to need to see it.
1:20-learning should be fun and having curiosity
16:00-Role of a Astrophysicist.
26:13-Invention comes from cross-pollination of different subjects.
27:30-Why we need to look at another planets?
39:40-working of microwave oven.
43:37-difference between mri and fmri?
45:50-3 kinds of truth.
55:09-History of calendar.
Pls continue this is valuable

That was brilliant. Thankyou
I love that Neil invited Joe to this podcast
Yea. Mr. Tyson seems like a genuinely kind and a very nice and knowledgeable person. Hope to meet him someday !

I once asked my College Algebra teacher the "Why are you teaching us this we will never use it in our life?!" With a little grin he told me: "I know you will never use it. I'm teaching you how to think". Let me just say He's one of my favorite teachers ever
he meant YOU won't ever use it... smarter students will.

Things like that are rare. I had 1 teacher in high school who refused to let any1 stop learning it impressed me. Then I. College there was 1 man I wish I could talk to him. I truly wished the educational system would give us, just as much years of dry education as they would give us years to get interested in something. There are so many smart people that are broken before they get to learn the cool stuff. I wished they would listen to Neill.
Sir Neil - I LOVE listening to hours long conversations between intelligent folks!! 100% LOVE!!!

www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2014/09/27/neil-degrasse-tyson-admits-he-botched-bush-quote/
Neil deGrasse Tyson was pretty much forced to acknowledge his false account of Bush's 9-11 speech.

@Jonata you have to be a special kind of stupid to think Neil Degrasse Tyson would be a dick as a teacher.
Can you try to arrange to have Neil and Musk in one interview?
Great idea, that would be epic
Musk would have a bone to pick with Neil for shit talking SpaceX for years because he was being paid off by Blue Origin.
Yea Musk would probably call ndgt a pedo for being mildly critical about his grandiose projects
Yo that's a great idea💯
This guy likes to talk (and we like to listen), Elon would not have a spoken word.
I love the way that Joe is determined to have flying cars is everything 😂
These two are a match made in heaven. Joe’s gift is wasted on his comedy act. He is brilliant as an interviewer and commentator.❤
I would'nt say wasted as he has gotten fans from the comedy world, ufc, tv(fear factor), and when starting his podcast he had a huge variety of fans wanting to listen.

Neil has a ton of great points and analysis that I really appreciate. It isn't K1, its Everest in that part of the conversation.
Actually some people call Everest K1. That is why K2 is K2... I didn't know that either.
@@VolleyballExplained Some people maybe call Everest K3 and K5 and K17. This is a complete bullshit. Everest is not K1. And I don't even know other people that don't know which is the highest peak. Don't you learn this in School in USA?

I'm almost 50 and still learning. Whenever I come across a word I haven't used in a while or ever, I look it up. I look up the etymology, synonyms, and antonyms. History is also a big part of my life. Reading about the past, the people, culture, and events that helped shape the world and how it's rippled through time and impacted today's societies.
The biggest thing about our education is the fact of how little we truly are taught about the world. As Neil said, they fail to keep us engaged and curious about wanting to learn.
