- From Ambler's Service Station we continue west on Historic Old Route 66 to the Dwight Service Station - another gem on the National Register of Historic Places.
We check-out an original portion of Route 66 that's been repurposed as a hiking trail.
The Historic Division Street Bridge, Deadmans Curve, Sprague's Service Station, an Original Brick Section of Route 66 and finally the Soulsby Service Station.

Cool... I like the old service stations.. wow.. brick 66 hwy... I didn't think it existed anymore!
Thanks @dennyporter2447 !! I dig those old gas stations too!! Stay tuned for more of 'em - the further west we go the more abandoned they seem to get.
Hey Jeff, great Illinois overview. Brings back lots of great memories of Chicago to St. Louis. I’m going to switch to messenger with more comments.
Thanks so much @leso1945 !! I'm glad it resonated with you. My goal is to make you feel like you're coming along for the ride with me in The 55.
Great video, Jeff. I forgot to add my comment when I first watched it.
Thank you.
I recommend anyone watching to listen through headphones. It brings out the best of that V8 sound.
Thanks so much Paul!!
Love the service stations! Thanks Jeff
You’re welcome John. Stay tuned cuz you ain’t seen nothing yet!! Lots more old gas stations are coming up!!
Another Gem - Thank you Jeff.
You're welcome @Bigsbeee !!
Thank YOU for coming along for the ride with me!!
Really enjoying these Route 66 videos! Would be awesome to do what your doing in my 57' one day. Quick question for ya.... what kinda mileage you getting with the LS versus the old Gen 1 sbc you had in there? Interested to know the difference between the two.
Thanks!
Thanks so much Fifty!! I really appreciate it!! You definitely gotta get out there and drive that 57!! I just blew out a wheel bearing but it’s all part of the adventure right?!? I’m looking forward to seeing you out on the road in your 57!!
Oh yeah - I was getting about 15mpg with the SBC/700r4/sniper EFI- now it’s about 17-21 depending on how much my foot is in it. The LS never needs oil. Never gets hot. And is a seemless source of power. The LS & Roadster Shop chassis have made it into a world class hot rod.
Thank you so much again Jeff - love the old gas stations esp on old rte 66
You're welcome Gary!! I'm glad you enjoyed it!! But you aint seen nothing yet!! Lots more cool old gas stations are coming up so stay tuned!!
@@jeffthisted I saw a bunch on my trip to Alb NM & was lucky enough to work at an ESSO when I was a kid. Gassed up lots of muscle cars back in the day / thanks again
Right @garygentzel7924 ?!? There’s a ton of em in New Mexico and Arizona!! Got any pictures of your old ESSO station?
@@jeffthisted yes we do somewhere & I’ll get you a copy of it
Thanks Gary. I’d like that!!
We live by 66 in Normal/ Bloomington, Illinois. We love it.
Very cool @prn24 !!
What'd you think of the video??
@jeffthisted Well done Jeff. Informative and it shows small towns that we haven't discovered yet. Your car makes the trip seem more relaxed than today's muscle cars or cruisers. Safe travels.
Thank you so much @prn24 !!
