Sometimes you can get a island design like this but it doesnt have to be all large fish. You can get a large fish island with a different design. Hopefully you didnt pass up a big fish island

I found one and caught 6 coelocanths, 3 Arawanas, 2 arapaimas, a barreleye (tiny fish!), multiple sharks, a dorado, 2 trevallys, and a napoleon fish... my husband was getting irritated... by the time I gave blathers the new fish, i had over 200,000 bells from selling the balance.... what an awesome island.

Some tips: you can scare the "smaller" fish so the rare ones have a chance to spawn again. I used like 4 fishing rods but if you just focus on the big-shadow ones you might be good with less. Don't run near the water, as you can scare the rare fish if you see them. Make sure you recognize the island so you know this is the one when you get there. If you see small fish, it's probably not it. If you can upgrade your inventory space, do that. I did it today this morning before getting to the island, so lucky. I wouldn't otherwise has so much space (10+ more). I also recommend making the fishing rods ahead of time, get materials from the rocks and trees and make like 3-4 fishing rods and drop them near the entrance than just focus on fishing fun! The clifftop doesn't spawn as many fish as the other areas. If you have fish baits it makes it easier to get rare fish from that location. I went back with an inventory full of rare fish. Of course, you can stay more farm for the more expensive fish, like the Coelacanth (15,000 bells). Some rare fish prices (for March, fish change based on month keep that in mind): Coelacanth: 15,000 Oarfish: 9000 Tuna: 7000 Sturgeon: 10,000 Golden trout: 15,000 ENJOY the time there, don't rush it. I spent hours there as I knew I might not get to see it again anytime soon. Enjoy fishing the "Rare Fish Island". it's super fun and satisfying, especially if you love fishing like myself.
Thanks for pointing that out. At that point I was full. I even preferred keeping the Tuna which is less because I like that fish. If I stayed more, I could come home with all most expensive ones. I love fishing in Animal Crossing NH, so for me it was more of the experience, then the $. Of course it helped me pay the big load that I had, which was a big plus. I wish I can get it again someday...

It depends when during year. September or March is best month to fish on big fish island. May is one of the worst months to fish here because you can only catch snappers and sea bass but in June I caught like 39 dorados in 1 hour.
Bro sturgeons are very profitable. Island #1 which is the common island, island #0 without the pond. It's so easy to catch them on that island, search up, "Sturgeon farm."

You can catch rare fish in the mouths that connect the beach to the river, and in rain, I believe that this is just a coincidence, because I’ve been on many of these islands and I don’t catch anything rare, plus ur inventory was basically all black basses

I just came to this video to check if the island I was on right now would be the island with rare fish before I left to try again. Well, the island I was on looks exactly the same and so far there also only spawned big fish, but fishing for them was a really disappointing experience. None of them rare in the slightest. Just the biggest of the most common fish.

@@SpookyFairy You should've looken in the rivers! The fish in there can be worth as much as 22,500 each!

When In correct months, you can find the dorado, arowana and arapaima fish in the river.
I got a Dorado in June so it's most likely in June that you would get those fish

Idk if this is common or not but you can tell how big the fish is by how much the switch vibrates when your are reeling in the rod..

You couldve of caught a lot of stringfish too (15000$). Which spawns on top of the waterfalls or clifftops. (Maybe it was off month tho)
The spawn there wasn't that great so I decided to focus on the other areas.
