    Hi you pair, absolutely noticed the rear bar straight up, it's lovely and totally suits your rig.
    Keelan, there's a lot of negativity here regarding the tune.
    My two bobs worth (old terminology from an old guy).
    Where to start. I drive a 2016 GU Y61 ZD30 CRC Patrol. I previously had the V8 D4D cruiser, we didn't like it, hence the Patrol, we prefer it.
    From purchase I had a Federal compliant GVM upgrade, as I knew the factory 430kg payload wouldn't cut it, so much for manufacturers caring about end users, nearly every GU & Cruiser in the country would be overweight with all passengers seats occupied & 2 fuel tanks full, so disregard comments about
    "if the manufacturer doesn't do it, it can't be worth doing".
    Now back to the tune.
    Like you, once I put my storage system in place, RTT on vehicle, it was struggling, especially with van in tow & once I fitted a EGT gauge the figures were scary, hit 700 degrees easily, that's concerning to say the least. Resolution, investigate tunes.
    I noted all gave significant power/torque increases, talk of lower EGT's but that being my main issue I was focused on lowering EGT, not power.
    I followed the recommendation of a chap whom had a tune done by ECPT, central coast NSW.
    These guys tune many vehicles but they specialise in ZD30, both DI & CRC.
    Concerningly, the initial dyno run revealed poor torque/power & very high EGT's, but it was all down to vehicles weight.
    After the tune, Wow. My EGT's dropped significantly, engine temps much more stable, (fluctuate less) & torque in abundance, now locks up and just drives.
    With van in tow we can now remain under 550° on inclines, (previously unheard of) and I'm so impressed.
    Heat is the killer of any engine, I needed to address the issue and ECPT achieved it.
    Keelan, if you're EGT's are lower, you drive accordingly to keep them low, you shouldn't have any issues.
    Yes, there are failures after tunes, BUT that is a result of people utilising all that power gains without any consideration to mechanical sympathy. Drive accordingly and you'll be right.
    So envious of your lifestyle, but keep me envious please, keep it up.
    Of course, you do realise any mechanical issues you have from now on will be blamed on the tune.
    Ignore those whom are not totally informed, that listen to hearsay and treat it as factual, you're ahead of them. Keep trucking 👍

      thanks mate, we will keep a close eye on the EGT, we havnt had them over 450 yet unless it was doing a dpf burn so pretty happy with that!

      @@SarahandKeelanTravels keep the easy going attitude up young fella, cause you do realise if you ever report having a puncture, it'll been caused by the extra torque flexing the tyre casing causing a weakened casing allowing the "grass stalk" to penetrate through. Hahaha 😆🤣.

    Be careful with the tune. Don’t get me wrong the tune improves power massively - but with more power comes more heat. I’ve had them ( same mob ) do the tune ( no complains - it’s awesome but!). When towing nearly 3 ton in summer, particularly up hills, caused the engine temp to rise dramatically. After two years I am reluctantly either detuning or returning to stock tune. I’ve realised after two years that there is a price to pay for performance and it’s not money - it’s heat. You’ll love the power but 1000klms of driving in summer and you’ll see what I’m saying. Having said that, I love Ultimate Diesel and they do amazing work - but it just doesn’t suit when I’m heading up the range, in summer, towing a 3 ton van.

      Agree 100% it amazes me that some of us older folk manage to tow vans in our stock 2016 Colorado 7 and see a lot of the country without tunes, new exhausts, air boxes etc. Feels like I am missing something?

      They aren’t a renowned company. They are snake oil salesmen pure and simple and unfortunately these naive youngsters have bought it hook line and sinker.
      I did too once upon a time.
      Guess what this “well known company” destroyed my brand new car after six years of ownership and four years with a tune in the vehicle. Spun bearing ended up resulting in engine failure.
      Caused by the “custom” dyno tune. Which turns out was bought by UDT from a tuner in Sydney, how did I find this out, I ended up moving to sydney and went to a Mitsubishi specialist who told me they sold UDT my tune file which was in my car…
      Anyway if you want to go down this path your choice, but I never will again. It cost me a perfectly working car. Because yes the car made more power but suddenly I didn’t need to drop a gear to go up a hill. Tuner never told me that. Ended up spinning a bearing as a result. If the cars were supposed to have this much power, they’d have it from factory.
      My oh my, how did we survive in the old days.

      Well said. What car company wants to have a vehicle with less KW and NM than the competitors. None! Why don't they turn up the wick and destroy their competitors? Because they have to warrant everything for 5 years more in some cases. Short term hard on for long term pain. Will the tuner fix the dead engine or driveline in four years time? Ask them before they turn up the wick.

    Don’t listen to the people advising against tunes. Most important thing is get tune from someone who’s knowledgeable and more importantly, keep fuel system in good condition, monitor injectors readings closely, secondary fuel filter and definitely additives, I use commonrail diesel additive and decarboniser additive and my 200 runs better at 98,000 than when I bought it at 50,000, they really lubricate and clean injectors and the decarboniser keeps tops of pistons clean of heat absorbing carbon and also stops it from forming around injector tips.

      Couldn’t agree more. My MN triton ended up with a spun bearing as a result of there “custom” tune which was actually a tune made by MRT performance in Sydney, which is also now defunct and then sold to UDT in Brisbane who “custom” tuned my car. Because the car made great power you could suddenly go up hills in top gear. Which being young at the time I didn’t realise is bad for the car and puts greater strain on the bearings and everything else. Guess what, after four years and only 120,000k’s the bearing gave out and the engine failed.
      Ended up getting asked to fork out 15k for a new engine or get rid of the car. I chose to get rid of it.
      Worst experience of my life. Stay away from these snake oil salesmen.
      They are the former diesel tuning arm of Mercury Motorsport, same company same tricks. Only thing is now we al drive diesels and 4x4 once upon a time it was skylines. Guess what they are still blowing up peoples cars. Stay away!!!

      Hey Peter. Ok so generally economy is improved. This is because the driver is not having to put their foot down as much anymore in order to get the vehicle to move. The engine & gearbox will definitely not have shorter lives either - we custom tune the ECUs within the factory safety parameters set by the manufacturer, so its safe. This vehicle is equipped with DPFs, so no black smoke. And, no more EGR maintenance is required after tuning. Just thought I'd clear those up for you. Cheers.

    I would off liked to see the dyno results with stock wheels and tyres Vs the ones you have on, 22 lt per 100 km = 4.5 km per litre or 6 MPG in old school money that's medium to heavy truck territory all the extra strain on the car components can't help with long term reliability

    • @SarahandKeelanTravels

      unfortunately we don't have the budget to keep things we take off the car, every part that came off eg.. tyres went straight on marketplace to fund the next mods. would of been interesting though!
      22L per hundred towing a caravan is good mate, most 79s get 15-20L not towing and most y62 patrols go a lot higher again. we are very happy with the results.

    99kw and 370nm at the wheels is pathetic. My steinbauer equipped 6cly turbo 79 ute puts out 120kw and 580nm at the wheels. It also put out MORE than your 200 series before the chip, yet as standard it is nearly 80kw less at the engine. That 200 has so much driveline loss, like 50 percent.

    • @SarahandKeelanTravels
      @SarahandKeelanTravels  Год назад +1

      I don’t think you really realise the numbers. The car weighs 3.5t on 34” tyres. What does your Ute weigh? Plus it’s a 4 wheel dyno and a all wheel drive car. 79 is rear wheel drive. If we disconnected the drive shaft we would be roughly 750nm - 850nm on a 2 wheel dyno and more like 185-200kw.

    • @aussiefarmer6012
      @aussiefarmer6012 Год назад

      @@SarahandKeelanTravels I know but the 99kw is what it was getting to the ground. Thats 50 percent loss from engine kw output. I understand why you had to tune it because it wouldn't pull very good without it. I regularly tow 3.45 tonnes with my ute. I am not being critical of you just the 200 series. Do the big tyres benefits outweigh the power loss?

    • @UltimateDieselTuning
      @UltimateDieselTuning Год назад +1

      Hi there. Steinbauer chips are generic - meaning they are a 1 chip suits all "solution". What we provide is far superior to one of those & will achieve for you much better results. You are also comparing a totally different engine & vehicle to this 200 Series.

    • @SarahandKeelanTravels
      @SarahandKeelanTravels  Год назад +2

      Are you going off Toyotas numbers? Is that where this 50% loss comes from? If so Toyotas 200kw and 600nm is recoded at the fly wheel not at the wheels. The 200 pulled well before we tuned it and would of done the job fine,
      I dare say the 200 before we tuned it would of made the same numbers as your tuned 79 if we disconnected the drive shaft on the 2 wheel dyno.
      That’s why every second car towing a van is a 200 and 90% of them arnt tuned or upgraded at all, they are the ultimate tow vehicles
      Just as a benchmark and for you to understand, My good mate has the same 6 cyl turbo EFI 79 highly tuned and making better numbers than yours and we put it against the 200 and we beat it.
      Yes 100% tyre size eats into your power,
      I think comparing a 2 wheel drive light Ute to a 3.5t all wheel drive wagon is like comparing an apple to a watermelon

    • @aussiefarmer6012
      @aussiefarmer6012 Год назад

      @@SarahandKeelanTravels exactly it lost 50 percent from flywheel to the wheels. Mostly because of driveline loss and the larger wheels. My comment was about the massive loss that you now wanted to rectify. I tow things for a living. The 200 isn't a good tow vehicle for 3.5 tonnes without upgrades because it has very little payload left after the 350kg ball weight is added, 370kg actually. That has to include the bullbar, towbar, passengers and other accessories. Granted it is better than a Y62 in this regard. They all need upgrades to realistically tow 3.5 tonnes to be legal. I was just commenting on how bad the original dyno result was. You pay for the AWD and big wheels in reduced pulling power. Everything is a compromise. Looking forward to your adventures. I have also used your itechworld discount code, thanks.
