Chris Stuckmann reviews The Meg, starring Jason Statham, Li Bingbing, Rainn Wilson, Ruby Rose, Winston Chao, Page Kennedy, Jessica McNamee, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Robert Taylor, Sophia Shuya Cai. Directed by Jon Turteltaub. - Развлечения
The Shark was the best actor.
true .. poor acting ..
*Meg
Nah the dog was
you cant say that when jason is acting here
Yeah. It's character's death scene made me very emotional. It did well in that scene especially.
This is why Chris is a fantastic movie critic. He knows this is a movie to watch for dumb fun and he's not treating it like he's judging the oscars. This is the level where film critics should be, instead of acting as if every film needs to be a art house-christopher nolan-masterpiece. Thanks for keeping it real, Chris, there's to many cinema snobs out there ruining this amazing tool of story telling.
This movies crap on crap
I thoroughlt enjoyed this movie for what it was - a popcorn movie starring Jason Statham.
@@steelsaber5431 what about he said JK? Stop getting worked up over youtube comments 😂😂😂
I'm so glad that little Pippin survived ^^
I love the look Jason Statham gives Pippin when he sees him from the sub
Pippit in Jaws didn't

How u doing Justin?
I don't like you're picture. It's freaking me out.
Justin Y. Saw you twice yesterday, 12:35 in the morning and I still can't stay away from you.
Just came from Jeremy's review. You're there, you're here, you're everywhere!

If you've seen the movie, you won't think like that.
Oh there will definitely be a Family Guy joke about this in a future episode.
Imagine the shark emerging from the glass...and it's just Meg's face. Mr McFarlane is already on it!
Like when Meg was playing all the monstrous aliens in the Star Wars specials.
What about "Bigger Jaws"?
:)
And he makes her teeth hurt while trying to bite the glass... and give her the noises when peter fell down and tends to his injuries for 40 seconds
I'm still waiting for a shark that turns into a werewolf movie! (Sharkwolf)?
There is a a movie called Sharktopus vs. Whalewolf lol.
Its from SyFy.
So its the closed thing to your imagination.

I would call it "PAWS"

Obviously, it’s not an academy award winning movie but like Chris said, it’s still a fun time and everything you’d expect. I’m still going to see it. I’ve watched every Jason Statham movie. They’re always a badass, fun time.
I want Con Air Nic Cage riding The Meg, with his long hair blowing in the wind in Slow Mo.
Jose Hernandez I need that as a screen saver!
Yes!!
That's what heaven is.
While screaming “how’d it get burned?! HOW’D IT GET BURNED!!!!”
Don't we all want that? I mean, isn't that humamity's ultimate goal?
Just got back from seeing it and want to leave my thoughts.
Pros -
CGI, Awesome looking shark, Jason Statham, Rainn Wilson, didn’t take itself too seriously
Cons -
Horrible acting from everyone but the aforementioned names above. Was afraid to show too much blood (cause of the rating like you said). The plot was all over the place, and honestly the set up was too slow and unnecessary. I would’ve been fine with just jumping right into the craziness with a fishing boat being ripped apart, but instead they tried to give Jason Statham a complicated character arc. Also, the dialogue was so utterly bad it made me cringe. It actually felt like the actors were aware of how bad the script was and could barely read it seriously. Their biggest mistake was making Rainn Wilson into some fool who gets himself killed, he was likeably unlikeable but they just stuck to every cliche imaginable.
It all just felt very scattered and random, like they were just making up scenes as they went without really thinking the whole plot line through.
The shark was badass though and Jason Statham made the action scenes awesome, just wasn’t quite redeemable for the horrid script and plot.
I would grade it a C.
That's great, not what's you're favorite booms you've read?? No comment?
@heizman Wilson was probably the worst actor in the movie, and his death was not compensatory for the shit drivel lines he was spewing. If he has a career its probably over now.
His acting wasn't great, but it was a glimmer of hope in the midst of the rest of the cast. I thought his character was at least intriguing unlike the rest.
most of the characters decisions and action made no common sense and there were moments where you just ask yourself why don't they do obvious thing instead of doing what they did
"...fine with just jumping right into the craziness with a fishing boat being ripped apart, but instead they tried to give Jason Statham a complicated character arc" Which I thought made no sense cause no one has gone below the hydrogen layer and that was the only way for The Meg to get here, so how the fuck could it attack a sub?
Wow! Dwight upgraded from a farm to a water research facility. Looks like he didnt like it at Dunder Mifflin
LOL well what would you expect after Michael left?
Stop.
Even before he was Dwight from The Office, I will always remember him as FISHBOY from House of 1000 Corpses.
"Other animal deaths"
Does that cute dog die? Nooo
Rule 1 of monster movies: if there's a dog, it's a dead dog.
Meg kills other aquatic animals in the trailer
I can tell you if you want. I saw it on Saturday.
Whatever, Fuck Usernames it didn't
oh good. I was thinking when it saw the shark and turned around "smart dog!" besides realistically a shark that big wouldn't waste time eating something so tiny

Does Statham say "shut up Meg!" in Peter Griffin's voice?
THIS NEEDS TO STOP! Chris, please answer for the good of the people, HOW MANY COWBOY BEBOP SHIRTS DO YOU OWN? Cause I honestly think I have seen AT LEAST 20 different shirts and it's getting a bit out of hand...

At least his taste in Cowboy is better than his taste in The Meg. Haha
Shut up weeb.... please
He is a fan of cowboy bebop
Agreed. But honestly I love it. It is an amazing show, and I delight is each new shirt
I would have believed you, had a shark jumped out of the water and nabbed him as he did the high dive.
TIL Jason Statham used to have hair
NickToVa TIL Jason Statham used to compete as a high diver
NickToVa. Duuuuuuuuh everyone that's bald use to have hair
I was jist gunna comment that 🤣
NickToVa it was a great dive he made
I always thought that he went from being a bald baby to a bald dude
I think this review just convinced me to see this. Thx.
The Meg is probably one of the greatest films ever made, it made me cry, it's Up there with Gandhi and Philadelphia.
The movie title sounds like a 90s coming of age story
My favorite scene from any shark film is Samuel L Jackson's scene from Deep Blue Sea.
Why? Because the black man dies?
Obed Blas fuck you, it’s true!
So I assume you haven't seen Jaws then.
MrQ000000 my favorite scene in Jaws is probably the final climax, where the shark devours Quint, Brody throws a barrel in the shark’s mouth, he shoots the said barrel, the shark blows up, and Brody and Hooper swim back home! Such a satisfying end to one of the best movies of all time! Oh, and did I mention how awesome the music was during that whole sequence I just mentioned?
Howling Burd19 "Smile you son of a b"
Am I the only one who thinks this is just deep blue sea with a big shark instead of three smart ones
Its literally the same plot. lmao
no... this is much worse
Deep blue was alotttt! Better, open water not bad..this is a mess
Andreas Marantz i didn’t see it based on his summary it just sounded like deep blue sea
I can appreciate that & it was for the first 10mins then I? Can't compare it too anything maybe jaws meets bigger jaws I've never seen sharknado films so?..they tried
As a fan of the book and it's sequels since 1997, I have to agree with you 100%.
I was bummed at first when I found out how far from the book it was going plus removing all the gore, but left the theater very happy with what we got.
A very entertaining and fun Summer popcorn flick.
We're gonna need a bigger shark.
Lmfao
big jaws
Holy shit a B!
Santi right that surprised tf outta me lol
way too generous imo
Santi yea it deserves an a
I've seen the meg when it came out...I've just wanted to see how you reviewed it and I realize you and I have similar spins on the films we've watched. I enjoyed The Meg, it was a fun film and one could tell the filmmakers knew they were not making the Citizen Kane of shark movies. The Meg simply put is a cool little popcorn flick.
▪ " I had a really good time watching this film"
In today's Hollywood that's about all you can ask.! ▪
True, where are this movies with the acting and tension of the first Robocop?
You live in Ohio, Jahns lives in Seattle.....
HOW DO YOU SYNCHRONIZE YOUR UPLOADS SO WELL?!
Ribotto Studio it's because the embargo lifts all at the same times. So they probably each try to upload the review as soon as the embargo lifts
but time zones? lol eh it's cool we get more videos.
Ribotto Studio Time zones don't matter. The embargo is lifted at the same time (moment) everywhere.
You can pre-upload videos on youtube and then schedule them to go live at a certain time, this with the moment the embargo lifts is how everyone puts up their review at the same time
Zack Spindler it's kind of sad you had to point that out... 🤣
B/10 too much water
lool
My favorite scene was when the shark launched itself out of water at the boat. It really caught some air, too! Made me laugh out loud on a crowded plane.
I’m so happy you reviewed this one. I thought The Meg was hilarious.
Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica
MICHAEL!
The moment I saw the trailer I thought, "they should stay in the underwater facility and make it a contained thriller!".
LoveDeluxe yup. Characters should have been eaten/killed one after another in the most tragic deaths, during which people demonstrate heroism, sacrifice as well as selfishness. Leaving 1 survivor with PTSD is far more dramatic than a happy-ever-after ending (despite so many props eaten alive)
When I saw the trailer, I thought it looked like just another shark movie trying to overthrow Jaws.
I could not finish this movie. I was expecting a bad but entertaining movie, but it just didn't do it for me. Being a huge Jaws fan probably didn't help either. I don't think I've ever seen acting as bad as in this one. Maybe I should give it another chance.
You should read the novel its based on Meg A Novel Of Deep Terror (1997). Excellent Book
There was a time where Jason Statham had HAIR???
Takashiari ikr, I was like LIES, EVERYWHERE!

i had to pause to catch my breath after laughing so hard at snow sharks, sharktopus and sand sharks... and all this time i thought it couldn't get any more absurd than Sharknado!!!!
It's a MEG-A-LA-DON....
Should've called it Megalodon instead of The Meg. The Meg sounds way too funny and l can't take it seriously.
I think that's kinda the point, dude...
Thats how it is called here in spain
Reverse Dipper Pines It's based on the MEG series by Steve Alten. Shows that Hollyweird will milk that killer shark trope till kingdom come
The first time I looked at the title, I immediately thought about Meg Griffin from Family Guy
Here in Finland it's called Megalodon & it comes out in 31.8
The Meg Ryan or The Meg Griffin?
lelabotoxique shut up Meg!
Diet Sexual_Chocolate I love you name. Lol!
its not cute enough to be The Meg Ryan.
The Meg Ryan since she actually existed before the Meg book, unlike Meg G.
The Meg fox
For the kind of movie this was, I thought it was great. And I must say, that was a _brutal_ way to kill off the shark. When the torpedoes came in, I worried someone was gonna say "Smile, you son of a bitch!" and make the entire death scene a giant _Jaws_ reference. But no, they made it epic and creative. Love this film.
I enjoyed the movie as well great review 😎
I would give the movie a B-
We’re gonna need a bigger boat
Josh Thomas I'm going to fix me a cereal of bowl
Josh Thomas Yeah, like a battleship.
They are, they probably could've gotten another one but Quint was certifiable, you know that? lol! :)
Wrong Shark movie, dude.
YOU’RE gonna need a bigger boat, it’s YOU’RE not we’re. Everyone always gets it wrong (sorry if I sound dickish, I’m just a huge fan of the movie)
Tempted to see this one just to see Statham look at the shark and say 'oi... you $%&*'
I saw this with my brother the other weekend and all in all, I had as much fun with it as I would expect from a movie about "Jason Statham battling a giant prehistoric shark" (as described by Odeon).
I do agree with you though Chris, this definitely would have benefitted more being an R-rated film, as I think it would have allowed it to be as ridiculous as it could ever be.
"SHUT UP MEG!" 0:04
It has a giant monster. I'll see it.
Not a monster a prehistoric squid
Totally. So will I.
Mr. Prestige Haha whoops fair enough!😂
Craig Reed The Christian Response I love a good giant monster!😀
RIP Sphero. Got dropped and cracked on the floor cuz some girl got scared of a shark
I love your reviews Chris. Every time I am about to watch a movie, I check your reviews first. I would absolutely love to watch you reviewing Jet Li's films. I would be very interested and I hope you agree on doing it.
Toshi was my favorite character and he died so soon 😭
You should seriously consider following up your idea on an Analyzed Video on the PG-13 Rating as you mentioned in your "Problem With Action Movies Today" Video. Anyone who wants to see that, give this comment a like and let Chris know. Thanks :)

Seriously. I'm shocked that he hasn't reviewed it. I'd love to hear his thoughts on it. Why would "The Meg" take priority over Christopher Robin!!!
I loved the movie! so glad I WAS able to take my daughter to see it!
Just have a question... Can u watch movies early with Amazon Prime?
I agree, it should've been R rated
My 9 year old loved Jaws, so I'm taking him to The Meg this weekend. It makes him happy you liked it, Chris--he's watched your Supergirl and Superman 4 hilariosity reviews about a dozen times each. He walks around quoting you quoting Superman--"Stop, don't do it--the people!" Repeatedly. So uh, thanks. I guess.
This is the best voting for this movie, I have seen till now. Most reviews are around E-F 😅

Great review, sounds like just what I was expecting. And I also agree that it would have been much better with the R Rating and Eli Roth at the helm. More Blood and Guts sounds like that all it needs. Ok, let me get ready to order my tickets.
Chris, please review Christopher Robin! I'm really curious to hear your thoughts on it.
I like the new strategy Chris has, to use the same photo in each thumbnail. It doesn’t let you know what he thinks before seeing the review.

Probably not but better than the sequel, I'm sure lol
Brandin Blades it is better than shallow teal pond, which is in production.

Jackson Payne Max Payne.
Dude, where did you get that clip of Jason Statham in a swimming Competition. Lool. Priceless!
Having now scene it, I really do love this movie. I especially like that, as much of a b-movie as it is, they actually did have some effective scares that actually utilized jump scares correctly: every jump scare is something you SHOULD be afraid of, and they don't do the 'drain the music out of a scene then sudden drown of music' cliche. I appreciate that.
Chris I love you a lot
But never do a British accent ever again
Sounded more Aussie.
Lol
Could’ve said it better myself
It’s actually a really good movie! Loved it! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!!!
Have you done a review for Open Water (2003) or The Reef (2010)?
Completely agree. I love silly parody movies including Sharknado, and this was that in a slightly more subtle way. Had some good laughs, a jump or two, my only complaint is that we didn’t see much stuff eaten. Not a deep or serious movie but it’s not supposed to be and I enjoy having some fun every once in a while
Octopus Shark🤣😂😂👏🏿👏🏿
there is a movie called sharktopus. great CGI, atrocious acting. Got Julia Roberts brother in it.
Majacks Lelo 👏👏
IGN gave it an 8.0.
Majacks Lelo Sharktopus, Sharktopus vs Pteracuda, Sharktopus vs Whalewolf. Legends.
The book was genuine horror, but they decided to make an awful popcorn flick instead. 🤦♂️
Its not to bad but I really wish they made it back in 90's imagine how awesomely silly the movie would be with a 75 foot long shark and nicolas cage and john Travolta and its rated r might have been a great silly film to watch but no we got this movie with jason Statham and its just okay but it would been a great silly film if it was nicolas cage everything else.
Based on a book a butcher wrote in his spare time to get himself out of blue collar work and to something better, Alton hit the nail on the head with his tagline "You've heard of Jurassic Park? Well this is Jurassic SHARK!"
He's been trying to turn his book into a movie for fifteen years. Just some side history on this flick, seeing it tomorrow.
1:50 Jason Statham with hair? What universe did I suddenly wake up to this morning?
