Rosalina's Observatory but it's not a Waltz anymore - Super Mario Galaxy Remix

- Made a remix of this fabulous theme on piano! Main change is the time signature ( so more of a ragtime than waltz feel ( hence the title)).
Hope you like it!
Someday someone will use this as the credits music for their 3 hour long Super Mario Galaxy video essay
"...this young man who Nintendo just hired? His name would be none other than Shigeru Miyamoto. In his early days at Nintendo Miyamoto would spend much of his time programming and..."
On it.
Bet.
Say less.
“My time has come”
“Welcome to the Observatory Bar, what will you be drinking today?”
This really does feel like it would be in a bar or café. If they ever make a Super Mario Galaxy 3 and there's a café, they should definitely use this
Just imagine the black luma as the bar tender, Rosalina is preforming on the stage in the corner, Mario strikers on the TV, and lubba from galaxy two is outside as the security guard

Collect the Power Starzzz… or some shit like that… (hiccup)
*Passes out*
Gimme your finest Star Bits.
1.5x is perfect for that ragtime feel.
Thanks, felt like this was missing a little something
you are shockingly right...
Wow it sounds 50% faster now
Silent movie type beat
Genius
"thank you all so much for watching my video on super mario galaxy. this wouldnt have been possible without the amazing support from my patrons."
Rosalina parked her Observitory near the mushroom kingdom long enough for a little town of Lumas and other star beings to converse and relax before heading off to their next adventure.
"Off near the Star Haven..."
"...Just down the hill..."
"...Lies a village of some other stars."
"Lumas, they call themselves..."
"...But they're all in all helpful little folk."
"This is the story of what happens in that little village."
PAPER MARIO: LUMA LIGHTBOX
This feels like an end credits song while the game plays a montage of important scenes
“…But to explain that, be need to rewind a bit. You see, The concept for Super Mario Galaxy's gameplay originated from ideas taken from Super Mario 128, a technology demonstration shown at Nintendo Space World in 2000 to exemplify the processing power of the GameCube. And it worked wonders. limitations truly do breed creativity.”
Thomas game docs comes to mind
But did you know that the second Mario brothers isn’t even actually Mario 2?? YEAH, it was actually a Japanese game called Harry Potter and the fucking wizard. I know! What the hell?!?!?
@@gooselvis5351 How will game developers use this "jumping" mechanic in new and exciting ways?
Making me think of how they made Twilight Princess as big as it was by...scaling the actors down. Way down. The world isn't big. The people in it are small.

Still game of the year baby!
Right above _knack_
Based on the thumbnail I thought it was going to be depression im glad I was wrong
Yep it’s an old timey film instead of
This reminds me of a scene in the Simpsons where mr burns is hosting a party. He forces the orchestra, which is playing a waltz, to play it in 4/4 instead of 3/4. This ends up tripping everyone up, myself included. Funny how the most average time signature can sound disjointed in specific context!
Going in to this, I wasn’t expecting to actually like it, but here we are.
I love Mario Galaxy and I love ragtime, I never thought they'd mesh so well! Sounds like it'd be for some casual everyday life moments with the characters
0:03 I love the triplet feel in the melody. It's super cool!
This is brilliant! Reminds me of Scruffys arrangements if you know their work :D
Thank you! Yes, Scruffy is an inspiration for me, I really like their music and videos, so I guess it sounds a bit like their style :)
AAAH YES it does have that Scruffy feeling >:D
Great thing seeing more Scruffy fans here
This sounds like the kind of music they put in silent films 😂
While I prefer the original, I can't help but be intrigued by this in a way that the original never took me. This version pulls you in with curiosity while the original more guides you through. An awesome piece no doubt.
This really helps you understand how unique waltz's are, like they just do whatever they want and make it sound good
Now it sounds like a Pokémon town theme 😂
would make good bar music
When this song is on the brain, this is the exclusive way I hum it. So glad someone else has broke it down this way!!
It just needs an anticipation in the melody line going into bar 4, and an extra bass note going into bar 12.
At 1st i thought it was be a merge beetween Rosalina's Observatory and Rocket Jump Waltz
“marshall toad, now theres a face i hadnt expected ta see here”
Jazzy... I like it
Being so used to the original, this is deeply uncanny.
I love this so much
Thank you!
This is what song Rosalina played during the last once a century visit. In 1924.
i thought it was gonna be "let us mourn her with a traditional ballad"
Honestly i even love this version so much 😊 just goes to show how incredible the song is
i adore this thank you so much
WHAT
My mind can't process this
Sounds like something Ken Burns would use on a documentary about Mario Galaxy
This is making me really emotional for some reason
I feel drinked
Domain Expansion: Galaxy Observatory
woah this is awesome!
this is a pretty nice version of the song, good job my dood
ive played the first melody similarly in my own time for fun similar to this. never thought of doing the whole thing. totally different vibe (compliment)
My brain cant decipher this, the drag triplets are to much for me to handle
Catchy.
now make it swing
^^^ agreed!
You can still count along in triplets!
beautiful!!
To my non-musically informed ears this actually feels more waltz than the original.
This could be perfect for a Mario Tutorial
This gives me heavy ragtime vibes. And I love it!
ahh yes, the Mushroom kingdom war of 1925. Bowser recently discovered Hypnosis and used it to conker Sarasaland. Peach thinking Daisy was a traitor declared war. Luigi who happened to be their on a date with Daisy also got hypnotised. When general Mario found Luigi to be on Daisy's side he thought that he was blinded by the love for Daisy. After a gruesome battle in the Egyptian cave system Luigi was taken hostage and was quickly taken to Rosalina's Observatory for interogation. Just when lutenant Lubba figured out he was just hypnotised Bowser attacked in an attempt to keep that information secret. Many Luma's lost their lives but the info. fortunately got to general Mario in time. Mario used a Blue Shell power-up to go undercover on Bowser's airship because that was his only way out. Mario now being stuck on Bowser's airship had to watch in terror to see the Flower Kingdom and Bean-Bean Kingdom be conkered as well. The Mushroom Kingdom surrounded by hypnotised kings, queens and leaders had no choice to surrender. This lead to the independance of DK Island, Yoshi's Island and even Pi'llo Island
That implied 3-4 polythyrhm tho
Maybe I’m just imagining it, but to me, the observatory theme at the beginning sounds a bit like the clocktown theme from majora’s mask and it feels like this time signature makes it stick out even more.
I need this extended, badly.
I didn't know I needed that
That is really awesome.
I made a Mario Galaxy video essay featuring this song :)
You could definitely use this in a Studio Ghibli Film or in Steven Universe and it would fit perfectly
2x speed for polka feel
Henya did a good cover of this
0.75 sounds like a lullaby
omg I love this
Do you have sheet music for this? I would love to learn it
Lovely!!
Super Mario Galaxy is the greatest game of all time.
Very very good 😮
Feels like tavern music
I can still count it as 3/4
polymetrically or polyrhythmically?
Gimme a drink, bartender.
I remember when rosalina allowed charlie Chaplin do a movie in hee observary back in 1922
Oooo… jazzy!
Songs that make me want to go back and take barre classes again
Can I download this anywhere, I'd love to have this on spotify, amazing work
When Rosalina gets the cowgirl transformation and turns the observatory into a saloon
Andrew Ryan's Comet Observatory
Went from Mario Galaxy to Kingdom Hearts
Better back to 1890s
If Nintendo chose Pixar over Illumination for the movie
Yeah. Not a waltz, but a polka.
People are so creative to come up w this
Sounds like swing now
Luigi the card dealer again 😠 that cheater took most of my coins as a kid
I hate it but also love it.
and it still soudns good!
this feels more like 2/4 or cut time
Genuine question, why does this make the song sound different? Like since both songs have a quarter note as the beat wouldnt nothing about the rhythm composition fumdamentally change? Im probably wrong, but I am truly curious.
Bro straight fire 🔥
Nice
This makes me so uncomfortable but you did a great job. Take my like and feel shame 👍👍 😖😖
Any chance you would put this on Spotify at some point?
Not now, but maybe in the distant future
Hi! Would it be alright for me to use this song in my Mario Galaxy video essay?
Of course! As long as you credit me
@@S.B.Reorch Absolutely! Thank you so much!
The video is out!
20s bar music
would love to play this with some life (not that isn't lovely already)! do you happen to have sheets for this?
Unfortunately no, I don't have any sheet for this piece :(
ragtime version song
May I use this in a shitpost of a video essay on Mario Galaxy?
Yes, as long as you credit me!
SHEET MUSIC PLEASE
why does this remind me of Frank Sinatra?!?!?
2/4 was not the answer...
This doesn’t quite sound like 4/4 to me, it sounds a bit more like 6/8 (Great rendition though!)
The left hand plays 4/4 though, as far as I hear. And the right hand plays lots of notes in swing rhythm and quarter dotted notes, which throws one off. I think it's a genius, the way it's used for this 4/4 conversion.
Now remove the ragtime 😂
This feels it should play at the end of a black and white movie
Needs A little work
This feels so cursed. Good job trying though
This makes me feel uncomfortable.
:(
