Funny story: Mark was my first ever clarinet teacher, and he was awesome. Just a master at the instrument. His talent is simply impeccable, and I can't stress enough how awesome he is. He taught me a few really important things about the clarinet back in 2015, and I won't ever forget them. The other funny thing is that the Alto Sax 2/Flute guy Josh Plottner was ALSO my teacher after Mark, and I learned so much from him too! Both of those guys are badasses, just unbelievably super talented. Josh knows like 25+ instruments also, and has basically made it his goal to learn as many instruments as possible too lol. Anyway, I'm so happy to see this timeless piece covered by some of my favorite musicians and 2 teachers, it's definitely inspiring. Well done guys

God, the Comet Observatory theme always feels like home to me. After a tough boss fight or those damned purple coin missions (lookin' at you Dreadnaught), this theme really helped ease the nerves as you wandered around the pleasant little hub.
Three years too late, but dear god yes. But for me it was Toy Time Galaxy's purple coins mission that was the bane of my existence. 😡

Yep. The OST to this game was recorded with mostly live instruments, right? Including strings and brass? It’s one thing when the OG is just FM with four-voice polyphony, quite another when it is, itself, an orchestral piece.
As a jazz musician I’m amazed at these arrangements you’ve been putting out, not only is this gorgeous, but after the key change, the recapitulation of the melody just exudes the spirit and sound of broadway and New York, it truly is incredible

I never got Mario Galaxy on the original Wii because my parents didn't want me playing video games since I was pretty young, but this brings back so many memories of seeing the commercials and my friends play it. Truly a masterpiece.

I started crying out of joy when I heard this nostalgic melody. God I remember all the happy memories, how I used to adore the sound track and simply remain on the space station to listen to this masterpiece. It filled me with joy and still does today.

The bass ostinato in the beginning is so smart! It really borrows from Someday My Prince Will Come, the Miles' version, it's such a great callback!
I loved every single second of that! 😍. That guy is something else! I would love to be as good as him on sax! You sure attract a lot of talent 8-Bit Big Band, but deservedly so because you create some of the best music on this platform! And you absolutely nailed it with this piece, it was everything I hoped it would be! I hope more galaxy music is in the future! Melty Monster and other hot worlds, Spacejunk, the fan favourite Gusty Garden, The Castle/Boss levels, Buoy Base, Puzzle Plank, there are so many good ones to choose from! The 8-Bit Big Band it was the piano that tipped me off, I didn’t get it at the beginning, the horns kind of masked it
The double bass at the beginning sounds similar to the 1961 recording.
The theme closely resembles the original Disney melody, so it makes a lot of sense to draw inspiration from the Miles Davis version.
My oh my, that clarinet is heavenly! And the string section! Brilliant work, guys!

Yep bingo. Making the videos of the songs happens all in one day, but they get rolled out slowly because animation/editing takes time! But recording the audio is always the fastest part since the musicians just come in and crush like 6 songs in one day :)

Usually I just end up with memes, and now I just feel like crying, fit to burst with all these complex emotions your music produces within me. I can't wait to see your whole discography, each video. Honestly, the level of polish on this chart is in a galaxy all it’s own, but Mark has got some major chops on the clarinet. This made an amazing ballad to show off your band’s skills. I remember my time in a big band. I always wanted to have strings incorporated and do more doubling (sax player, if you couldn’t tell). I always thought it was really cool to transition to flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, or piccolo for part of a piece, it really changes the chart IMO for that section, if done well.
Is the start part inspired by "Someday my Prince will come"? Sounds pretty similar with that bass part and chords.
