Really great pictures. You're a great photographer, so don't be too negative on yourself. Seeing beautiful things in such a manmade environment. You paint with loving nature. You're worth a bigger audience. Glad to see your lovely work.
Hello Richard, a nice video and great pictures you are sharing with us. Thanks a lot. I am using the Pana-Leica too, bought it, before changing to Olympus, for my GH3. And now I am very happy to use it still now with my OM-1. Three weeks ago I was going to a photo meeting with some other people from the Olympus forum and there we look in a small challenge for the results of Pana-Leica vs. Olympus 100-400 and the new 150-400mm. Okay, the last one is an new dimension. But the Pana-Leica is still in the race. There is no difference to the Olympus and of course no reason to change it. Many greatings to you from the south - west of Germany, valley of the river Rhine below the Black Forest. Peter
Thanks so much Peter. Yes it is a very capable lens and fun to use. Have been trying the 300mm pro for the last week or so. Which is also very nice. You are from a lovely part of the world. I was born several hours north in Hanover. 😀
@@RichardCookphotography Hello, I also use the 300 pro and the 40-150 pro. In combination, an ideal solution for any photographic task. Great zooms, a strong fixed focus lens and the two Olympus with excellent speed.
Well captured and yes a long lens is great these types of shots and I prefer the blurred out background as it accentuates the subject more. Cheers from cold New Zealand !
Hi Royce. Thank you for the great comment. It's pretty wild when you think people from as far away as New Zealand can watch your videos. So cool. Glad you liked it ❤️❤️
You sure got some stunning shots there Richard, I love them all. Tasmania is still in winter so we don't have much to shoot at the moment sadly, insect wise that is. I'm looking forward to getting out and about again soon though....
If I want to use the camera for everyday, ultrawide and super tele, would you recommend me to get Sony A7RV with Tamron 150-500mm and Sony 16-35mm F4 Power Zoom, GH5 with 100-400 and 8-18 or 9mm or Fuji XT5 with similar lenses?
Pleased I discovered your channel today. You have given me food for thought on the 2 videos I have watched so far. Wondering if you have uses for that lens that don't involve nature?
Very nice shots. I'm trying to work out my next camera and it's a toss between the OM-1 and Fuji XH2s. If I get the OM-1 would you recommend the Pano/Leica 100-400 or the Oly version? how about If I spend a bit more and get the 300mm F4? saying that your 100-400mm seems excellent enough as good as a prime.
Hi. Thanks for the nice comment. Depending on what you shoot the OM1 is a great camera. I really like the PL100-400 especially because of the size and weight, it's tiny for this type of zoom range. In terms of optically I would imagine the Olympus 100-400 would be as good possibly even better as it's the same brand making it. I have only used the PL100400 rather than the other 2 but I would be very interested in the Olympus 300mm F4. So if your budget allows maybe go for that 1.
As an Olympus and Fuji shooter I'd say it depends a lot on what you're trying to achieve.. It looks like OM-1 has better subject tracking, higher burst rates, pro capture (captures frames before you press the shutter), focus stacking, high resolution mode, live ND, better stabilizer, live composite mode. If you think your work would benefit from those then I'd go with OM-1. BTW, some of those modes (focus stacking, 120 fps burst) do not work with Panasonic lenses.. If you don't think you'd use any of the computational photography modes, Fuji has a few more megapixels, slightly better dynamic range, film simulation modes..
@@digitalspecter I think actually the 120fps mode works for panny lenses. It's the 50 fps with af mode that doesn't work. Panny lenses are restricted to 25fps.
Thanks for the video. Sorry if I missed this in the video but I’m terms of stabilization do you use the lens OIS or the OM-1 IBIS? How do you find the stabilization when shooting handheld? I’m considering the OM-1 but I love having dual IS with the G9 and the PL 100-400.
I own that lens and mainly take Insects. Being 1.3 mtrs away also helps in not disturbing the Insects. I used to have the Canon 100mm macro lens until my knees were shot. A versatile lens as it obviously can take Birds as well.
Hi Eljay. Yes the extra distance away definitely helps not spooking the bugs but also not being attacked by a huge wasp for getting too close. Thanks for the comment
This is the Combo I am looking at as use the100-400 on my GH4 at the moment. I would have liked you to have covered more of the settings with your OM-1 rather than the talking so much - ta Mal
Thanks for the comment Mal. Sorry I bored you but if I talk too much about settings other people might find that boring too...so it's a tricky one. Anyway if you look at my flickr page, the settings are all listed under the photos so you can see for yourself! Cheers www.flickr.com/photos/49985242@N08/
Too bad the OM-1 isn't as good a camera as the Olympus 300mm lens is. If buying a used Panasonic 100-400, make sure you have a good return policy as there have been a lot of reports of unuseable/stiff zooms and not fitting on bodies.
Everyone has different opinions about cameras. You have made yours very clear about the OM1 on lots of my videos. I thought you were getting a Canon anyway, maybe time to move on mate 👍

Hi Nick. I just leave everything on and let the camera work it out, I think the lens IS supersedes the ibis. The IS shooting handheld is very good. Have always been impressed with it. Thanks for the comment 🙏🙏😀

All photos in the video were taken with the Panasonic 100-400 and either the OM1 or the EM1 mk2. Thanks for stopping by. 😀

Were you trolling us with the use of a face mask outside? lol
Haha. No I actually keep it on sometimes because I have had skin cancer on my face and it just helps as an extra layer of protection.
@@RichardCookphotography Oh phew that's a completely logical explanation! Can you not use suncream or is this more convenient?
