Not water proof though, lol! I touched it after placing & I had just washed my hands. They were slightly damp & ruined my freshly placed label. 😭. Oh well, live & learn I guess! I just thought I would try to pass that on so no one else makes that mistake! Happy crafting everyone! 😘
Yes, I’ve tested that as well. Since my jars are not intended to be wet or around water, I am okay with this product for this craft!
@@Bethadilly How would you clean the jar without ruining the label? What would you recommend for waterproof labels? I’m looking for a product that I can use in my pantry and wipe down from time to time without worry of smearing or ruining the labels. Thank you. 😊

Very helpful tutorial! Do you have any advice how I can stop the smudging, please? When the labels come in contact with water, they start to run and smudge.

Congratulations on your Cricut Joy! Unfortunately, I don't use my phone for Design Space. I find the desktop version to be much easier to use so I only use that!

Hi I'm getting a joy for my birthday in a couple of weeks so I've been watching all of your videos they are lovely and I'm learning loads as I'm completely new to cricut. I just wondered what is the difference between weld and attach was
They are very similar, but attaching just placing the items together. Welding actually permanently fuses the items together so is preferred when you are connecting cursive fonts because then the individual letters actually all become one file. I hope this helps!

Just got a Joy and I’m struggling a little trying to make labels with design space. Thank you so much for the suggestion regarding the Cricut Joy app!! So easy!!
when i loaded my smart label and the Joy measured and scanned it automatically covered with a shadow from a design i had tried to do on vinyl?? And yet i was able to print the same labels onto paper without any problem?
After reading comments, I’m wondering if Cricut has waterproof pens, also.
Another great tutorial on making labels! I am making a label for a memory candle 🔥. I want to use a cursive font like Babette but don't want the font to be an outline (I would like it to be solid) any suggestions on a font or pen thickness that would accomplish this? Any help would be appreciated 🌞
When choosing fonts for the pen, be sure to filter for “writing” fonts so you know what fonts will write without the outline!

I love your videos and teaching style! So easy to follow and learn. I’m having difficulty with the words with draw feature. I used the four seasons text and it outlines all the letters. It kind of looks like bubble letters. Is there a way to fix this?

Watched all your videos, you’re a great teacher! Question. Do you have to use the smart labels? Or could you use any vinyl? Does it need to be matte vinyl?
I’m so glad you’re enjoying my videos! Yes, the smart labels need to be used because it is writable vinyl. I am not sure that other vinyls are writable, as I’ve never tried. You could always test it to see if it works, but I’ve only ever used the writable vinyl.
Bethadilly thanks for the fast reply, I tested it on regular vinyl and it erased right off. You don’t know till you try it! for others that are wondering, it doesn’t work..One last question 🙊 for today... how do we turn off the machine? Do we just unplug it?
Honestly, I just unplug mine when I’m not using it since there isn’t an on/off switch. I do think it’s odd that there isn’t an off button, though I know is a buttonless machine. :)
I really want to start making some labels (home and work) but I feel like I won't use the machine as much once lockdown is over and I go back to work full time. Also, if I do buy one do I get the maker or the air 2 or the joy? That has been my dilemma! Oh I wanted to say thank you for your videos because I feel like I've learnt a lot from you by just watching.

Are the labels waterproof? In case i need to wash the jar? BTW great easy to follow tutorial.
Hi Julia! They are not waterproof. I tried running a damp towel over one as a test awhile back and it ruined the ink so I wouldn't recommend this particular label if you intend to wash it. Hope this helps!
Can I use these instructions to make “handmade by” stickers/labels for greeting cards?

Can you use the non permanent vinyl and write on that vinyl with the Cricut joy, I want to create a label but don’t want it permanent
I haven’t tried to write on non permanent vinyl, I’ve only written on writable vinyl so I am unsure.
How do you make the labels the same size regardless of length of the word? When i make a label for eg Shampoo compared to for eg Rice. The Rice comes out much larger even when I adjust to the same font size, is there a way to make it look the same size regardless of how many letters there are??
I write my longest word first, size it to fit my label, and then duplicate that word and edit it to write in the new label word the sizing is consistent. Be sure to rewatch this tutorial, and you will see how I did mine!
have you ever used patterned vinyl with your cricuts? if so how do you lay it on the cutting mat?
Caitlin Richardson I’ve actually only used patterned HTV, but I’d imagine you’d place it normally like you would vinyl with the patterned side up. You can always check with your manufacturer, as it may vary based on who makes it and how it’s designed!

You’re so welcome! And don’t worry about messing up, it happens! I made a lot of mess ups in the beginning and they were huge learning moments for me!
Does the writing smear if the label gets wet? Or is a permanent ink?
I don't recommend getting it wet. I just tested getting a label wet and it ruins it. It began to run a yellow color out of the black writing, so keep dry!

Be sure you’re selecting a writing font for this to work. :)
How do you get the writing to not look like jiberish? I chose the same font as you but certain letters don't look right.
Hi Charlene! I’m unsure, as I didn’t run into that problem when creating mine. I hope it starts working for you soon, but be sure everything is set to Draw and maybe that will help.
Can you print on these instead of writing? To make example like stickers for your Joy?
With a Maker or Explore Air 2, yes. The Joy does not do Print Then Cut projects however! And you wouldn't print on this material, but on a sticker paper that feeds through your printer. :)

How did you "attach" the fonts to the label?
Hi Donna! I highlighted both the label and the font (to select them) and clicked "attach." I do this about 12 minutes into the tutorial, if you would like to jump to that portion of the video to watch how I do it!

Only Smart materials can be selected for the "without a mat" option.

I am trying to use this font to make labels and I choose writing style on my iPad ,but when I insert it it goes to a drawing font! It’s driving me nuts! What am I doing wrong?
I think after inserting it, you need to change it from cut to draw. I’m not sure where to locate that on the iPad though, as I only use the desktop version!
Bethadilly I did change it to drawn but then the font looks like an outline and not solid black. I’m going to try it on computer and hope I have better luck. Your tutorial is great and I shouldn’t have any problem. Thanks so much! I love everything you make and all your tutorials!
I’ve been trying it for hours on my laptop and the font either goes to draw with an outline or if I choose writing in style it changes to all weird looking characters! I give up!
I’m having the same issue Tammy. Did you solve the issue. Same font on Draw but it shows it as an outline rather than a solid letter. I’m using a desktop too
