    That’s why I just have a monthly calendar on one page and next page is blank for brain dumping for writing how my day went to what restaurants I want to try to doodles to planning/ideas for the weekend….by Friday or even Sunday I go over the Beau fump and highlight in color coding for categories such as planning, ideas, fun things to do, housework, errands…

    I just started a fresh new notebook a few days ago because I had a specific purpose in mind: "heal from my radiation therapy and surgery and getting things done without overdoing things" I need a place to keep track of the ongoing treatments and researches but mainly I need to slow myself down while still making sure things are getting done. So this one is minimalistic, lots of space for brain dumping / self reflection / routines& revising them. This one has to be absolutely pressure free. It actually has its purpose on one of the first pages so I can always go back and remind myself to take it easy.

      I really like the idea of putting that purpose upfront; I was literally thinking about how I can do that in my next journal while I was reading your comment 💜 I hope your recovery process goes well and that your journal can help you in that! 💪

    I am finding these types of videos very helpful, as I am currently re-evaluating my bullet journaling practice. I am heading into a new journal and am wanting to focus on the reflection side of the process more. Feeling I have been missing this part of my practice. Thanks Jess for your no frills approach.

    This was so helpful and I went and watched all your other videos about this. I I stopped working in my bullet journal, because it just repeated what was in my Erin Condren planner, my jibun techo for appointments and my todoist app for tasks. I found drawing everything was enjoyable, but I didn't have the time so I needed to use a preset system. I did completely miss the reflection section I use the longform journal in the morning and the night to collect my thoughts and offload so I'm not screaming at my kids, my dogs and my dad. Watching your videos showed me that I could use my bullet journal to hold the reflection points daily weekly and monthly. I don't read through my longform journal, and I only looked through my planners to find things I do think it would be very helpful to use my bullet journal, reflecting on the key points from my day week and month to help me make decisions on my time use.thank you for a great series of videos. And it would be great to see some beautifully designed spreads just for reflection, because like you if my planner is uggo i wont use it ! I was also wondering if you had any insight on organizing the reflections… By category (work, kids, health) versus by date. Because many times by Friday like you pointed out in your video I'm tired and I run out of gas at the end of the week, the end of the month and the end of the year. Do you think it would be helpful to organized by category household family health fitness, things like that… You're such a beautiful artist maybe you have some ideas on Layouts and designs… Thanks again for this it was very helpful

    • @JashiiCorrin
      @JashiiCorrin  Год назад +3

      Could totally be worthwhile having things organised by category! I typically like category organisation wherever I can manage it, and I think that could be useful for reflections 🤔 something like a dedicated reflections index could also be useful for that (e.g. having a list of all the page numbers that have reflections about home, then a list of all the reflections about health, etc.). A dedicated index like that would be helpful for finding those in the journal as a whole without having to pre-section off spaces for them 🤔 I'm bad at guestimating how many pages things will take up, haha 😅 worth exploring further!

    • @sandrabeckmedia
      @sandrabeckmedia Год назад +2

      You got me thinking that maybe a health section where I could put a date and put a reflection, then easily read back through the page for earlier reflections… Like a two page spread for health… For maybe my goals… Because my brain space is in the category not the date and I want to see all my date reflections together, so I can see how I’ve changed or grown or completely crashed❤

    Excellent video Jess! I am catching up on this week and am loving what you are covering in this series.💜 In that discussion at workshop week, Ryder called a bullet journal a "Paper Mirror". I wrote that in my notes, I liked that analogy. *"Brains are made for having ideas, not for holding them" Golden nugget of the video! 💜

    Thankyou for that video Jess! to be honest I have not watched many of your videos for a while because I was finding that the spreads, trackers lists etc etc were taking away from my my WHY I started bullet journalling in the first place. I never filled them out and it just made me feel like I was wasting my time (which I was)I re-read Ryder's book and went back to basics and I LOVE it! I use my journal every day and it serves me I don't serve it! I bought a Bullet Journal V2 and started again and haven't looked back. All I do is a Future Log and then monthly log and dailies. No weeklies, no trackers just rapid logging for the most part and if I want to write about something I pick the next blank page and go for it and use the Index as it was meant and I have also discovered THREADING!!!! Game changer. Thankyou again

    Eliminating habit trackers and weekly spreads gives you more space and freedom to record what you need without wasting or restricting space. I use most of my pages for semi organized brain dumps with designated pages for things like reading lists and recipes.

      The reflection style in the Bullet Journal method is a bit different to what I like to do in terms of my reflection, but it could be a good place to start! That one is more about looking at our journal entries as a reflection of where we've been spending our time and energy, and considering if they're aligned with where we want to go 💪 The nice part about that is it doesn't really need you to be much of an out-of-the-house-er to get value from it 💜

    Interesting! I feel the same with the ugliness. My journal before this one was smaller in size and dot grid (my others were about A5 with blank pages), and it was an experiment. A fruitful one in the sense that I realized it wasn’t for me. I used it more like a calendar, but I couldn’t always keep up because I didn’t like it, it was harder to decorate, I felt constricted, and the dots made it too busy for me. A dot grid notebook is perfect for tracking finances though.
    I also realized that I don’t like putting a lot of tasks in my journal, I just don’t like this kind of productivity 😅 this might sound weird, but it’s kind of like rebelling against myself xD I didn’t like the focus being on what errands to run and what housework to do, so now I rarely include those, and I don’t even necessarily journal everyday, and I’ve made my peace with that. This way, I don’t put too much pressure on myself, and I can actually focus on the more important stuff, which makes me happy and content

    • @JashiiCorrin
      @JashiiCorrin  Год назад +1

      Heck yeah for figuring out what works (and doesn't) for us 💪 I like experiments like trying different notebook styles as a way to see what we do and don't like 😄 and loved that you found the venture fruitful, even though it was just that learning experience! 💜

    The big difference between "you're doing it wrong" and "I was doing it wrong FOR ME" is important. The best part of the system is the flexibility, but it's kinda also the worst part of the system because you have to figure out what works for you rather than having someone hand down The Rules.

    This is so very true. I’ve had to move I to a different way of planning for a while (going to try a hobonichi). Just so I can use it for my productivity even when I’m not in the mood to be creative yet I can still be creative if this comes over me as I’m feeling so overwhelmed at the moment and don’t have the time or the will to set up the spreads. You are right too, if I do them but more simpler, then I don’t want to use them. Grateful for your video.

      Balancing the want to be creative (whether as an outlet, or because we need that to ACTUALLY USE our journals) with the time/energy to do it is challenging 😅 Glad the Hobonichi has been a fix for you!

    While it’s true that there’s no such thing as a wrong way to journal, it’s fair to say that there is such a thing as the wrong way to journal for you…
    For instance…
    Just going along with what’s “popular” even though you don’t do those things, e.g. feeling like you have to have certain things in your journal like a gratitude log or whatever. If that’s not your thing, don’t do it.
    Carrying on doing a certain thing without stopping to reflect whether it may have stopped serving its purpose, or whether you could set it out better.
