People have been fighting to get her into a retirement sea pen where she could be in the ocean but still have care because she can't hunt on her own and needs medical care. But at least she could feel the waves and have that experience that I'm sure she remembers. She still had living family in those waters. Up until recently her mother was still there waiting for her but has since died. The pool she is in now, is so small that if she stood on her head, her tail would stick out of the water. By a lot. So sad

I would think 56 yrs is pretty old for a whale in captivity. I feel sad for her. She should have lived free in the sea. I'm pretty sure they can will themselves to die when they've had it. So sad.
She is the oldest whale in captivity most don't live that long some die by suicide. 5 dolphins and a California sea lion has died at Miami aquarium since March of 2019. After Tilikum killed his handler, Dawn, the third person he'd killed, in Orlando they separated him in a pool about like the one she is in. No one or thing visited him. I think he eventually got an infection and died. She probably has a fungal infection and who knows what else. Their water is filthy. the enclosures are sparser than a jail sell, nothing like the ocean. Their echolocation probably work against them in a small pool. They wear their teeth down chewing on the concrete, and ram their pool walls with their heads and that can sometimes be fatal.

Okay so my parents took me to see world when I was a kid. I kept asking where's the ocean Mom where's the ocean. Because I had a hard time making the connection that the whales were in a tank and not held in the ocean like in an ocean pen. San Antonio Texas is 6 hours from the ocean. And even then I felt it was wrong. Yes I was amazed by the whales and then being able to jump and everything but I was a kid as I got older I looked back on it thinking I didn't have such a great feeling about it I had mixed emotions. Then as of age I have decided that I'm not taking my kids to SeaWorld like that.

I met her & saw the show April 2021 on earth day. The show was 15 min long, She does one breach, one vocalization and she waves goodbye. They don’t really ask much of her. I live 16 min From Lolita, My community swimming pool is bigger than where she lives. She wasn’t thriving, she was surviving. I’m sure she has a very little to very vague memories of being out in the ocean. After 50 something years of being in that little tank I’m sure she would have a lot of anxiety. Seaworld Orlando is only 2 1/2 or three hours up the road. They have plenty room 7 big pools and 2 medical pools (med pools bigger than Lolita’s tank) I’d introduce Lolita to the boys Mak & Trua first. She’s not feeling her best right now so getting her on a plane to Washington would be hard on her plus she’s been hand fed her whole life and being in That pool means she has a very low immune system being out in the ocean could kill her real fast. So I’m praying orlando opens there doors to her. World class veterinary care, so much love and other orcas to interact with.

Lolita is from the Southern Resident orca population. Southern and Northern Residents are fish eaters. They don't eat mammals.

She probably killed one of the pacific white sided dolphin that were loaned By Sea world to the Miami Seaquarium due to stress and she was probably a lot more hungry than usual taking away 50 pounds of food from a healthy orcas diet can cause mood swings. I met her & saw the show April 2021 on earth day. The show was 15 min long, She does one breach, one vocalization and she waves goodbye. They don’t really ask much of her. I live 16 min From Lolita, My community swimming pool is bigger than where she lives. She wasn’t thriving, she was surviving. I’m sure she has a very little to very vague memories of being out in the ocean. After 50 something years of being in that little tank I’m sure she would have a lot of anxiety. Seaworld Orlando is only 2 1/2 or three hours up the road. They have plenty room 7 big pools and 2 medical pools (med pools bigger than Lolita’s tank) I’d introduce Lolita to the boys Mak & Trua first. She’s not feeling her best right now so getting her on a plane to Washington would be hard on her plus she’s been hand fed her whole life and being in That pool means she has a very low immune system being out in the ocean could kill her real fast. So I’m praying orlando opens there doors to her. World class veterinary care, so much love and other orcas to interact with.
@@lbabytutorials4852 There's no way Katina would ever accept her. Katina is notorious for beating her tank mates on a regular basis. She broke Gudrun's jaw. She tortured Tilikum for years. Tilikum and Taima's daughter Malia is constantly mistreated by both Katina and her spoiled daughter Nalani. Poor Lolita wouldn't last a day in Orlando.
