My father worked 8-10 hours a day, and he could feed and support the whole family. My mother would stay at home taking care both of us. Now both husband and wife working 12 hours a day, and they still struggle to support the whole family with only 1 child. The financial burden for the new generation keep rising higher. The biggest problem is, some governments refuse to force even minimum wage on big companies. And people have to work two or even three jobs to support themselves.

They financial burden comes from multiple car loans, huge credit card debts, buying junks they don't need, paying interest for the two big overseas vacations they had two years ago. It's not that they didn't make enough money, it is because they spent so much more than they earn.

Whining about it is not going to help or change anything, but because humans are weak sheep then they can do whatever they want with you, if they want to pay you almost nothing and force you to work 24/7 until you die they can, what are you going to do about it? Nothing, and they know that - you have to act and do something to make change, it will not come because you pray to god. If that worked everyone would be a millionaire with wings by now.

@@2Phast4Rocket well atleast in india for men to married if he had sister she should be married atleast because female family pays for the marriage and mostly girls parents dont like to marry her daughter to someone who has unmarried sister because infuture it is most likely to force her bring more money from her parents.
and after that they boy need to have house and bit of property.
in some cases girls also give house or cars as dowry.
think about it you have a sister or two, as the brother and your father is retired all the burden to marry sister or sisters falls on you. and no one marry you until they are married. and as female family pays for marriage and they have do how groom likes it the boy likely will have loan and if groom family asks for dowry as house or car they have to take loan.
even if there is nothing you mentioned people will suffer because of the society pressure.
you may ask why girl cant pay well for the marriage why there brother because still in society many dont want woman to study. if woman study so much they wont find groom for her. and they have to save for marriage too so it happens many times girls dreams are forcefully taken away so they can save money for marriage.

The biggest hindrance to young people dating - not just in South Korea but also in other Western countries - is the financial burden. Young people are finding it extremely difficult to purchase homes, build their savings, and cultivate romantic relationships while also focusing on their careers to increase their salaries. Everything is so expensive these days that most young people cannot spend their time seeking and pursuing relationships when they can just put all their energy on their careers/pursuing higher education and earning money.
To governments: if you want the younger people to get married, have children and financially support your country, you need to find a way to make it financially easier for them to do so!!!

I think finance is just a secondary problem. The primary problem is, is that all women just want the top 10% of men. Women’s expectations have gone through the roof. They only want the most handsome, 6 ft tall, has 6 pack abs, and is rich. This means if you put 10 woman and 10 man in an island, its almost guaranteed that around 8 to 9 if not all the girls would want only the top 1 or top 2 guys. This leaves a lot of people single and lonely 8 to 9 males and the 8 to 9 females that the top 1 or top 2 guys didn’t pick. So in an island with 20 people (10 man and 10 woman), 16 will likely be single.

Our parents married at their twenties. They began their marriage life in a rented house or small flat. At that time Korean women didn't use to have a lot of job opportunities so normally a man was happy to marry a woman in exchange of his house, job at certain age. It was possible because they could hope for the better future with no lack of decent jobs, high interest rates. Now women get proper education, get a job. They no long see a marriage as a matter of life and death like my grandmother once did.
While people's opinions about marriage have changed, a lot of women are still finding it hard to continue working after they get married due to most companies' policies. As a result, in south Korea the percentage of working married couples is the lowest among OECD countries.
With other factors like rising living costs and housing, a marriage life doesn't seem appealing to young men and women any more.

Kinda hard to date with everyone wearing a mask.
On a serious note, I think kids are turned off with marriage just because they saw their parents have a bad marriage. They will not take about it since they don’t want to shame the family, but there are more underlying reasons. They see their parents fighting, see kids as a burden, they will conclude why get married or have kids when things are so hard.

Marriage is hard work. You will get out what you put in. I am not Korean, but I definitely can not live with a man who puts his mom ahead of his wife. The Bible says a man must leave his mother and father and cleave to his wife. Once he has made the decision to marry his wife becomes his top priority. When God is both spouses top priority it becomes even better. If she respects her husband and he prioritize her needs in mutual love marriage is wonderful. But wevhave a world that teach us to be selfish and self absorb. Running after material things and constantly trying to keep up with or neighbors. We work 24/7 to ave the biggest house, drive the best cars, etc. But how many of you actually have the time to appreciate all that you slaved for? It's the proverbial hamster 🐹 in the wheel. You kill yourself for various 3000 square feet house and speed 98% of your waking hours in 100 square foot. By the time you realize it you are too sick or on deaths door. 99% of what we do is to please people who don't care about us. These are all things we should consider before we decide to marry and find a person who has the same faith and values as yourself. Someone who can appreciate the important things in life not the flashy things.

This documentary and their take on the problem with the specialist’s opinion is really well made!
I think it’s also important to take into account Korean dating culture. A lot of girls expect to be the upmost priority of their man, answering texts and calls right away. There is also the fact of sharing everything you do, texting/talking about all your lunches or where you went with whom. Cannot have friends of the opposite gender etc…
Also the fact that if your parents do not approve of your partner, you have to break up and no marriage like ??? Poor them, they can’t even choose to make their life with the one they love. At the same time, the parents put a lot of pressure on their kids to marry 😅
Also I understand the girls because once you marry your husband, they say you also marry his family. Basically you have to do everything your husband’s parents ask, otherwise it’s seen as direspectful, even if what they ask is too much/not appropriate.
And let’s not even talk about the fact that most boys are so sheltered, many are mama boys, and will take their mom’s side whenever over their wife 😅!
I felt bad for Dongmin who says he will never date again because he « doesn’t want to loose his freedom », clearly he hasn’t experienced a type of relationship that is a bit out of Korea’s culture. Had he been born in a country with less obsession over a partner, he might have been married already and happy with a partner

And you can support and love them in return. But it's not easy to find someone like this or be this kind of person. People don't wait untill marriage, they end up in bed and this is only make things worse, because this is just senseless short pleasure which makes people's mind "blind". Understand the meaning of "love", "marriage", forget about selfishness, remember that people should take care of each other. If you find someone, try to understand do you really love each other, do you really want to live all life together. Take responsibility about each other and only after marriage show your love in bed. There are so many couples that when you stroll through the streets without your friends you apparently can feel lonely. Also the fact that you can see more couples cuddling on the street in Seoul than in big cities as in Germany also surprised me a lot! On top of that there are many Korean couples who are together for a short period of time and then move on to date the next partner. In other countries, generally speaking, people don't try to live up to a certain image as much as Koreans do. Money is the problem? People got married and had kids during the worst parts of the Korean war and IMF crisis, sometimes with no money, sometimes living three or four generations in one house. Some people rented forever, etc. Money is a weak excuse for not dating. Plenty of couples down at the Han river in the summer with nothing but a can of beer, a bowl of ramyeon and some laughs while the sun sets. I think young Koreans have become socially inept, largely due to spending more time interacting with devices than with other humans. As a society, Koreans have never really been quitters, so it is sad to see young people evolving into weak spirited quitters who have to rely on others for everything. I miss the old Korea, where people were fun, energetic, and partied together all night long instead of just doom-scrolling social media in their pajamas while watching netflix alone on Saturday night.

You should also take into account the desire to improve or at least maintain the same standard of living. Having an extra mouth to feed and providing for their needs for the next two to three decades can pose a considerable financial burden.
Since, the dynamics of Korean society have undergone a transformation, transitioning from a profound emphasis on traditional Confucian values, which prioritize family, community, and social harmony, to a more individualistic orientation. Some people choose to provide and take care of themselves over having a family and the associated responsibilities that comes with it.

In the USA, it is predicted that "based on Census Bureau historical data and Morgan Stanley forecasts, 45% of prime working age women (ages 25-44) will be single by 2030." While this may have nothing to do with South Korea right now, one thing is certain, its trend tends to be followed by other countries. I can only imagine how Korea will be in 2030--singles desperate to find a meaningful partner to no avail. Well, time will reveal when we approach 7 years from now.

Korea like most Western countries was a Christian nation and saw marriage and children as blessings and gifts from God. When the Biblical morals have eroded and lost through the generation when prosperity started flowing, all types of societal problems started to creep in and no wonder degeneracy is rampant, morals lost, family in disarray, divorce is through the roof, mental health problems, depression, loneliness, drunkenness, lack of purpose in life, self gratification etc. Only Godly morals can fix this and no matter what psychologists or science suggests, it can never be fixed. The void left by God can never be filled with earthly material things and young people have been brainwashed that money is everything when God is everything.

Marriage and children stopped being a thing when so many divorces happened. The veil was ripped off that the fantasty is over. Now the woman is stuck struggling with kids. Its a financial burden. The father often moves on and makes another family. Not many take their father responcibilities seriously. They dont want to invest in their childrens lives. No woman wants to make that life for herself. Single parenting is hard. Being stuck in a bad marriage is also tough. Its very rare seeing couples truly in love with each other. Many women don’t want to give up their career, understandably so. And in some cases, like in entertainment but also some corporates, the end of your career already starts when you get married even if you have no children, it’s a crazy world

A lot of people in their 40s and 50s that realise this and will be homeless if it carries on; otherwise, you have people that marry same-sex partners or their friends to gain access to the benefits.
Again, not everyone will be affected, but they'll be the exceptions to the trend :(

Everyone says reason that Korea’ low birth rate come from not a good environment for having children, but I think that is not true. There are statistics showing that our country has a very low out of wedlock birth rate and that married people have 2 children. People just don't date. There is no dating, so no one gets married. Young generation in Korea chose not to date before having children. Low birth rates are simply the result of not dating.
So, is a solution to encourage births outside marriage to overcome Korea's low birth rate? That will never happen in Korea. Then, Is relationship necessary for young people? Absolutely not. I’m a young woman, so from standing a woman's perspective, dating and relationship really don’t need to me. I don't have to have a relationship to interact with others. Because there are a lot of things to enjoy and more fun things than dating now. Many Koreans don't feel a need for spouses and children in their lives (even more than Westerners).
Therefore, no matter how much the welfare of new mom improves, Koreans don’t want to have children anymore. So Korean government instead of encouraging more children to be birth, should start thinking about how to cover the growing social costs of the shrinking population.
South Korea’ territory is very small but with an excessive population of 51million people. It is time for us to move on to a better path. I don't know how long the process will take, but the decrease in welfare and the increase in taxes will probably be painful for all Korean. The shrinking population will be a very natural and positive sign so that everyone can live a more pleasant life. It's even a very good sign in terms of the environment of earth.
In preparation for that time, we koreans must reduce excessive consumption and seek more active exports and foreign tourism.

People shouldn't feel they have to have a child because their country have low birth rate, like that it's just some propagsnda for carrying next generations.Insteae their government can help with health care, child care and interesting house prizes, but they just complain birth rate is too low,it's just telling people to work more and give child to country instead helping the ones who want a kid but can't afford, just my opinion tho.

Mr. Single Wedding Reception said no dating or marrying. He will be lonely. He said no dating. As time passes his friends will be busy with their families, children, grandchildren. The cycle of life. And he will be free but alone.

It's a coping mechanism & rationalization of a man when he has a single wedding ceremony. The main issue is that he's too scared to be rejected in relationships. We all go through that same fear but we should never let it push us to this extreme. This is definitely not pro-survival towards the human race

As a young Korean raised in America, I genuinely don't get these people. Maybe it's because of the cultural differencwa, but I always thought it is important to get married and settle down so you won't be lonely when you get older and contribute to society by having children

    • @kaydkaydkayd
      @kaydkaydkayd 10 месяцев назад +10

having children just to “ contribute ” is stupid lol u should only have them if u actually wanna be around them n can provide a nice life for them

    • @PingYJ7750
      @PingYJ7750 10 месяцев назад +7

@@kaydkaydkayd more children = more future adult workers which increases the economy and fills out position within the labor force. However due to people having less children, the workforce has been getting smaller in Korea and there has been serious concerns raised over whose going to pay the pensions for the elderly. If less and less people are working causing the economy to shrink, that in return contributes to decreased revenue for the government which can cripple social services. This is what's happening in france when they raised the pension age from 60 to 62, and the U.S from 65 to 67 because less and less people are replacing the older generation in the work force.

As in most conservative cultures, from the perspective of young people today (male and female) the loss of agency when getting married is a HUGE negative in this modern world. When you have devoted your entire childhood to education in a profoundly competitive culture why would you take risks with all that work by marrying someone who may not end up being right for you, by losing status at work as a "wife who should be at home having babies and tending house" (yawns), by yoking oneself to the tyranny of paternal and maternal in-laws who expect to dictate your life path, by taking on the enormous costs of launching a family and educating kids in an educational system that will cost even more than yours did and will be even more competitive..? Why would ANYONE choose this? These kids are smart, they can see exactly why remaining single is the sane rational choice. My perspective? I didnt get married until after I got my PhD and even then I never thought I would. Ive been married 28 years and have 3 kids (2 in college, one about to go to college) - as my parent did, I tell my kids that getting married is NOT required and really something that you should consider only if you want kids. (need to have legal protections in place, as much as is possible)

Finances, horrific wealth inequity, power imbalance, probable long hours & with a heavy handed expensive education system (lots of well educated food deliverers in Korea I'd guess....) just for starters - why on EARTH would people want (or be able to afford) children in that situation? As for the way AI is going - we think things are bad now? 😂 Joseon hell indeed - and we're all headed this way to some degree imo :(

If the youth don't want to date then leave them alone, maybe some people have other things in mind, maybe not everyone is just walking genders looking for something to mate with, maybe some people want something different and better with their life's.
We don't need more people, we are already over-populated, and we cannot support all the people we have so we don't need more.

We have more people in earth who are single than in a relationship. I understand both sides, but since the world changed so fast, physical touches are more important than deep love, etc. It's better to be single. We were born alone and we will die alone. I let my destiny guide me and choose if I should be in a relationship one day or not
