@@PonyTailGoalie how are these compared to G4s and GTs? I have both now but wanted to give Bauer a try once again. Wasn't sure if I should try these or 1Xs.
@@VetGoalie76 Personally I like them way more I've always been a warrior person but I finally sold my warrior set ive been so happy with these. They are the same weight wise there not as flexible as the G4s where but they got to squishy for me i like the fact these flex but not crazy. 1x aren't terrible but they had alot of design flaws with the early vapor lines if your gonna go vapor id say atleast go 2x but for the price point GSX are nicer then the 1x where
@@PonyTailGoalie I might have to give these a try then. I am still using my RBK P4 Pro 590 break glove and P4 Blocker that I will NOT part with. If only Bauer made a 590 Pro glove then I would completely switch back to Bauer again.
Thanks for your review! My teenage son has been a goalie for his entire hockey life. We have always equipped him with used pads. The Bauer GSR pads are his first new pads EVER - because, as you said, we don't all have ( a lot of )money. Was curious to see how the bootstrap attached. We equipped it just to see how it goes on, but will probably go without. We had seen a used pair of GSRs on which the little pocket for the strap "loop" had ripped - so that's another reason for not using it. First time viewer of your vid(s). Will look for more in the future. Thanks again!
I'm a huge fan of the GSX line. Not quite for me but they married the X and S lines so well in a cheap package for us beer leaguers. There's a fair amount of technology in them too for the price point. Excellent review!
Thank you for the review, I am a younger goalie and I want new pads because the CCM eflex that I use right now kinda mess with my butterfly so I’m looking into Bauer and I do want the gsx for my next pads
I have been playing in GSX for over a month now really enjoying the Pads. I agree the toe ties are pretty weak I have to double wrap around the front part of the skate to get it secure. The strapping is easy to use and you can get a custom fit to your liking. Also you can remove the top Velcro Thigh if you don't want the strap to go directly behind your thigh.
Glad to hear you like them my son is 9 and just started playing goalie last year. Minor hockey supplied his pads, blocker and trapper last year but I need to buy all new equipment this year coming we went with GSX pads blocker and trapper. He has a goalie school coming up in 4 weeks so we will see how he makes out with them. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for this review, I'm brand new to the position and had my first skate the other day. Already can tell my itech x-factor pads arent gonna cut it for too long. Really looking at this bauer line as they finance with super low payments.
Thanks for the review! One thing I'm not used to is the sizing. They come in small, medium, or large. I can't figure out which size to get. My last pair was 34 +2.
Glad I found this video picked up a set for mens league would be interested in seeing a 1 year update on them if you still have the pads and have been using them
Appreciate the review on these it helped me make my decision vs the CCM Axis I was looking at and nearly 1/2 the cost of those CCM’s too. I also got the blocker & glove as well. Looking forward to the updated review on these pads since you’ve had them almost a year. The toe ties I’m changing out for the Trav4 ties soon. Getting them tomorrow and hopefully before my game too
I’ve been using mine 3x’s per week for the last 3 months they are taking a beating & still feel awesome. My last pads were used ones and man I felt every glove save & blocker, but the legs were good still. These if I windmill a ripper from the Blue line from one to the former college guys I play against then yeah I’ll feel it in the palm a bit and barely on the blocker but these GSX are just solid. Next season hoping to jump in on some of our local ECHL Boys practices
@@PonyTailGoalie I know I would appreciate it, where I live most goalie gear is specially ordered in so don't have a chance to see it before having to buy it so videos like yours are a huge help.
Nice review. And the black stripes make the pads look so much cooler. Just curios, do you put the toe straps through your your skates twice? (font space and middle space before going over the top). I do and those look about as long as mine - the length seems perfect this way.
Yes with these I have to loop them through twice I personally do the the middle section and the back section of my skate normally with my other pads I only go through the middle
I just bought these pads based on your review. I haven't played in 25 years and wanted to get back into at a decent price. Looking forward to them showing up in the mail. Have you tried the glove and/or blocker of this line? Thanks for doing this.
Thats awesome I've been really loving them I hope you like them. Gotta let me know what you think once you get them. As for the Glove and blocker I didn't have a chance to get them yet I'll get the blocker but im really picky with gloves cause I have tiny baby hands so struggle with almost all gloves so prob wont be getting the GSX glove I didn't really care for it when i played with it in store seemed cheap and impossible to break in honestly
Those toe ties will pull through. I have the same ones on my ultrasonics and I’ve gone through about 5-6 pairs of them. It’s irritating and at 20 USD a pair not cheap.
After having had some time playing with these for a bit how are they holding up? I'm currently playing in some S27's and my only problem with them is how stiff the boot is, it has no give, and also the angle of the boot. I'm torn between these and the x2.7, but the pure goalie review on the GSX pad has described them as a mix of supreme and vapor which is appealing to me. How is the boot on these after some time? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Having actually used the s27s myself the GSX are SOOO much better. Like the Pure hockey review says they are a mix of the Vapor and Supreme lines really and have the best of both. The boot angle is more like the supreme's which i like but it isn't as stiff so they sit taller then the vapors do. But the annoying strapping that was on the S2 line is gone and much easier . I've been using them for about a month now and no wear spots at all just the normal puck marks. For a bottom end of the line pad I'm beyond impressed they do not preform like a low lvl pad at all Bravo to Bauer
I just got these pads second hand and the person i bought them from Took out the velcro on The other side of the knee do you know where i could get a replacement?
Do you use the gsx catch gloves too? because for me, they are either not broke in fully or broke in very badly because they are so hard to close with just one hand.
Do you know what the difference between the Intermediate and the Senior is? I'm 5'7 and usually wear a 32+ (playing ball hockey, so no skates) which is a senior S or an intermediate L. The intermediate is $100 cheaper.
I do know with the GSX line anyway they did not make them in Xsmall which was the 32+1 in the SR line a Small in Bauer is a 33+1. So You'd prob be looking at the Intermediate Large. I personally am not sure with this line if there is a difference between SR and INT lines normally if there is its the width of the pad is a tad smaller in an INT size gear but not all brands do that and i have the SRs so I don't have any to compare
Does she wear knee guards? Also what way does she strap them? I havn't had any issues with the strapping on the GSX pads but i wear the top strap behind my knee not to the thigh like many people do now. I also wear Warrior knee guards which fills more space. The new warrior catch and blocker
You can shorten the toe ties by pulling the end through and tying it off more? Did that with my Vaughns.
