The marble 'trivet' is a pataa. We roll our chapattis on them even today. Very easy to find all over India, and most of us have them in our house, but the top detail yours has is definitely different! Mine cost a bit under 200 rupees or under 2 dollars. So, if you do visit India, come with an empty suitcase for these items and cheap prices!
Lol 😂 That’s hilarious…$2 ,,, 😂
I made a vase. I used a two balloon’s to start the bottom of it & then I used a different balloon for the middle. Made it out of paper machete + I added some baking soda and Elmer’s glue to make it thicker and kinda chunky & finished the top without the balloon because I made the bottom first paper machete was done over 4 days. Each day I added a layer, let it dry the rest of the day & all night, then just kept adding to it until it was nice & thick. And then I added a light clear sealer. Turned out great! I sold it. Now I want to make more after seeing this video.
A tip for that marble chapati /roti/ tortilla maker use a wet rag below it while using so that it doesn't move or scratch your countertops.
Thats true but I don't think she is going to use it for rolling. It will mostly act like as decor piece.
She could stick some felt onto the underside of the feet so she can slide it around without scratching the soapstone.
I remember this place from when “we” visited it with Drew. I was fascinated by the tree in the middle of the room. I know nothing about the items they carry, but they are all so unique. Even in a stack of seemingly identical bowls, each one has it’s characteristics. Many times what appears to be a flaw, simply adds to it’s charm and personality.
Beautiful items. All I could think about though was that episode of Friends where Rachel bought decor from Pottery Barn but convinced Pheobe that she bought it from a vintage flee market and everything was from the "times of yore" haha.
You should come to India to see most of these things are available so much cheaper. The chapati( flat bread) marble roller stand is a staple item in most Indian kitchens. We also use granite and wooden ones here.. definitely should visit :)!
I love that they know the history of so many pieces and are transparent if they don’t know or if something is new! They seem lovely!
I was actually surprised with how little they knew lol😂 but I guess that’s a European take
They did seem very nice!
@@flatbalcony1478 no kidding. They didn’t know much lol
@@flatbalcony1478 my European thoughts align with yours 😂
I guess so.
@7:10 on the video - those tiny wooden stools. I found one nearly identical to the one in the middle of that grouping on the video, at a thrift store here in town. Paid $3. I don't know if it's actually vintage or new, but I love it.
Yikes. You paid too much! I just got an entire truckload of them for free, and they're 9 billion years old and still look brand new and pristine! Beat that, girly!
Coming from a Mediterranean country myself, I am a bit suspicious about the pricing of those items. There are usually less pricey in situ and when they are old like that (and I am guessing even cheaper when bought in bulk). I guess the shipping and other costs are included in the price you pay for them. But still. The anthropological curiosity of it all: my grandma's old things from our village home are considered "vintage" in the US and priced steeply. 😯☺
edit: some grammar mistakes 😅
While I am from the U.S., I agree about being a little suspicious of the pricing. It is a high-end furniture store in Los Angeles, so of course it is going to be pricey, but I just felt like a lot of the prices looked more simple and potentially DIY (yet pretty obviously!)
Yeah it’s a store in LA so they can definitely up the prices! I thought the same thing
LOL I found the exact stuff at Home Goods and you can find them online at TJMaxx & Marshall’s.. they’re reproductions made in India made to look “Vintage”.. really easy to set up a nice store in Pasadena & West L.A. & get some Brits to sell it to you.. everybody falls for it. “Vintage” items are extremely expensive.. shipping them over making sure they don’t get damaged, not to mention paying customs fees.
@@Scorpio17. 💀💀💀when I heard her accent this is EXACTLY WHEN I GOT SUSPICIOUS 😂😂😂
Pretty sure she’s Australian 😅
Your mom could capture some of those beautiful peices in her art .🤎🤍🙂
The teak pots are called theki . They were used in northern India and Nepal to store milk fat and other “liquids”. I live here in India and have been collecting them over the last year. They come in all shapes and sizes.
Yes, my Indian college sad it's for milk too.😁
We don’t carve in the tree that can help kill the tree
I love how we can tell that you really love something because you gender it! “She’s beautiful” or “I had to have her” or “isn’t he gorgeous?” It think it’s so sweet, it’s like you give the piece a personality!
It's THE most annoying thing ever!
Please don’t gender items. You’re objectifying women.
Exactly
@@michyd7981 I don't care for it either. Drew does the same thing. It's the only thing that bugs me about their channels.
I can see the deep bowl in your kitchen filled with fruits. The wood color is amazing.
That's what I use mine for.
@@hahna77 I have one that I fill with fruits...its not from some fancy place but when it's filled...it looks beautiful and reminds me to get in my fruits.
@@rosekisiel3383 same, lol. I got mine from a local thrift store for $6, but it's every bit as gorgeous. They give the kitchen a little rustic touch.
I would caution you about using the bread board for food purposes. I feel like you need to be certain about it's treatment during the shipping process and/or if there were any kinds of preservatives used on the wood surface etc. before you use it. I too would want one of everything from that store but the Olive vases were Stunning!
that small marble trinket is called "Chakli" and is used as a flat surface to make roti/ chapatti (indian flat bread) on so that it doesn't stick to the kitchen counter. The roller used to flatten the dough is called "Belan", so together they are "Chakli-Belan"
We have loads of this exact stuff in Australia sold as “vintage” .. as my uncle was an authentic antique Asian furniture trader I know none of this stuff is old . But it does look aesthetically beautiful.. not sure who is telling the porky pies the people buying it overseas or the overseas sellers. At least this store isn’t over charging (much) .. many do 😮
I feel like the style I've purchased throughout last year and I have over paid for everything. Now Amazon sells similar looking stuff as well so I guess we're saturated
I was thinking the same … “ Vintage “ … and funnily enough l live in Australia as well 😊😊🇦🇺
How do you recognize some of the real vintage finds?
I was thinking the same thing, that stuff is not old, all the multiples look too much alike.
I went to a flea market where a couple of booths were selling identical stuff to each other AND it was identical to the stuff at Olive Atelier. It's definitely not vintage...
My Husband and I have a Sailboat ⛵️ & all the wood inside & out the wood is “ALL TEAKWOOD” ITS BEAUTIFUL & HOLDS UP TO ALL THE MOISTURE, RAIN, SNOW, ETC. VERY BEAUTIFUL WOOD & NOT EASY TO FIND. IN OUR EXPERIENCE ANYWAY. 😁 ⛵️
The Frisco area in Texas is an Indian community, everytime I see an estate sale on that side of town I make sure to attend. I have scored many beautiful Indian items. When the Hindus/Indians go back to visit their country they'll go for months or when their loved ones come visit them they come for months and during those trips they bring back tons and tons of things/furnishings/fabrics/clothes so most of the things in their homes are authentic and from their country... 😍. The only thing I have yet to score is that Indian gold... they keep that close to their hearts 🥰.
All the items were gorgeous.
This place just screams perfection. I'm incredibly lucky I get to see a lot of these finds when I visit my Turkish Cypriot family in North Cyprus. My Grandmother (My Nene) moved back there after retirement. Now im older, I really take the time to appreciate the history and beauty of it all. 🤍🧿💙
Much to you & anyone who reads this from London, England 🇬🇧
I love going shopping for antique/vintage finds. I love how you talk about each piece like "she" is a living being!
MaCenna Sweetie, That Store Is Sooooooo Amazing! WOW! Thanks For Sharing 😊 🍁 Truly Blessed 🍁
Hi Xo, I love your enthusiasm for life and vintage. Yu are very excited about your teak haul. I am from Goa, India, my home is nestled in a hilly forest and all my doors and windows and a fair bit of furniture is made of teak. It’s an excellent wood that can withstand the monsoon rains and termites. I’m glad Yu found something from my part of the world. There are nights, I just admire my teak front doors. The wood is an absolute beauty.
I’m actually watching this from my vacation in Turkey and you see these pots outside on the side of the roads for sale, it’s so cool! I loveeeeee your vlogs and well all your content; you are so talented and I truly think there is nothing you can’t turn your hand to. Xx
Good morning Maccena, I just wanted to wish you a beautiful day and you’re such a joy to watch. When ever I feel down, your videos make me feel happy and you’re a reminder that there is still good and kind people in this world.
I feel the exact same way !! She is such a joy to watch and I can only imagine what a wonderful "best friend" she would make....kind, caring, funny and truly connected !! Look forward to her videos every week and can't wait for Vlogmas so we can see her EVERY DAY !!!
You look so beautiful in that yellow color!❤
Nothing beats buying things you love but buying them with a story is something else!!
Shopping, manicure and pedicure, lunch with a friend. Perfect day. How fun.
Hello MaCenna, I know you mentioned in one of your previous videos that you weren’t renewing your lease, and that you wanted to change some things to to their original state in the apartment. I was thinking, maybe you should show your landlord your updates. Since the style is very appealing he might not mind some black paint on the windows. Plus, you did such a good job.
Yes Drew's landlord loved what he did to his apartment and he didn't have to change anything back. Macenna should send him some pictures and see what he says.
Everyone needs a day just to enjoy. You and Romeo deserve this time to enjoy yourselves. Have a great time.
I think your new breadboard would look awesome hanging in that niche at the end of your island where you were thinking about putting a spice rack, if it would fit.
Great idea
I mentioned something similar in one of the videos where she was talking about that space. The RUclips channel “Pine and Prospect Home” made a spot on the wall between the kitchen and dining room where she stores her vintage cutting boards with a horizontal slat to keep them in place. Also handier to have a board there and spices across the way by the stove?🤔
@@lauramitchell6725 Great minds think alike! 😊
love your vibe, you are a ball of happiness x
Omg Kingsley Cracks me up........she has to see everything you get. Look at it smell it
She is so funny.
aww love love when kensey check u boxes or shooping .
just looking around at the color pallet of the store is amazing! Buy it all!!
The marble piece you picked up is used in India as a base to roll flat bread(naan/roti etc.). Of course, now its made of lighter materials like Aluminum/wood but some people still use marble one's.
Seeing y’all ready to start a family and make all these big decisions really warms my heart 🫶🏻 every time you talk about starting a family I’m so excited for you! You’re gonna be great ofc 🥰
I love the small zooms in you do during your videos!! So funny!! So excited for this video ❤
The dark bowl @ 18:00 is called a dough bowl. It’s beautiful love it.
I would love to see a vlog where you talk about fashion! I know you have a lot of experience in the fashion industry and I think your style is really fascinating! I know it’s not your content “theme” but maybe in a Q&A video?? ❤️❤️ Just how you found your style and if you feel like your personal style and your interior style go together!
You needed this little break for your friends wedding and just to have a good time! Olive & Margot those places were so beautiful I would have loved to have gone with you that’s pretty unique and you’re right some of those things would look really good at your new house but your LA house?!?! Culver City oh that was beautiful quaint little restaurant and the little shopping area that you showed us really really cute I’m so glad you’re having an awesome time with your friends and being back in LA!!! Sometimes you just Gotta have a break and have a little fun revive again refresh rejuvenate!
It’s really awesome that the cottage kitchen has dark soap stone and the island with it’s lighter worktop. When you have a kitchen that is all white or all dark, it’s a lot more restrictive to pick accessories which contrast that base. Love it!
Whenever I think of the word joy, you are the person that comes to mind. You are always so joyful! Even within the difficult projects or stressful situations. You have become my number one roll model when it comes to embodying a joyful attitude. All my love for you and your family! ❤
The game you were playing is called “cornhole” in the south. The bags were typically filled with corn.
I love the switching back in forth from Cali to Texas, I always look forward to your videos.
Someday, maybe you should try to attempt making a chapati (which is an Indian flatbread) on that marble rolling board - every household in India owns one of those. Also, all the other salvaged items are lovely. I’m sure your mom will love the French vase.
Hi! Long time follower ❤ I just want to say how much JOY and LIGHT you bring to my life. I’m also in my 30s and I appreciate the honesty of where you are at with wanting to plan for a family and what you want out of life. I can’t wait so see more of the journey but I find you so relatable and I truly appreciate everything you do even if it’s not always easy. xoxox
How did I miss this yesterday? I mean I saved it thinking it was an older video. lol. I've been waiting for this since Drew took us too! Who needs friends IRL? (j/k) 🤣💕
Can't believe the upgrade that those items will provide in a decorating experience. Styling with a number of those items can honestly take an environment to the level of ultra swiftly. Plan to bring items back to Texas in stages!!!
You and your mom should take a wheel ceramics class! I think you’d really enjoy it!
We could play a drinking game with every time McCenna says “organic”….. lol
i read this comment exactly when she said "organic" 😂
❤what a beautiful store to get lost in, just beautiful! You and Romeo make such cute couple, excitingly wait for you to tell us you and Romeo are engaged! What a wonderful surprise that will be. You can bring us along to see you prepare for the big day! ♥️♥️
I thought for sure he was going to propose when they were in Europe!
I thought they were engaged already.
Hey hun. Most trees are self healing so it would eventually close off your carved initials. My uncle told me this when I wanted to carve an old tree and he said it wouldn't work.
Loved that store. I am a Canadian who has lived in Turkey for 16 yrs. Cool stuff eh!! :)
I have a teak bench in the shower, its in a semi dry area of the walk in and has lasted so far for 5 yrs and is beautiful..they last so long, great finds and you and Romeo are just so cute together
Also wanted to tell you my sister's doggie is named Mr. Bentley. She has a doodle called Miss Daisy and my all time fav who is now in heaven was Mr. Miko.
Sounds like you might be doing a lychgate kinda situation at the cottage? If so I think that would not only add a lot of character (you can grow vines over it!) but also double gate setup is a great safety measure for Kinsley! It's saved our babies many times from careless people not closing the gate properly ❤️
Love love everything
Corn hole is the game! 😂
These items might be almost free here in India :P so funny..
Someone's trash is someone's treasure.. So true
That store!!! I'm sad.... but also glad that we don't have one of those where I live. I would be in there every day and spend ALL my money.
Omg I could spend hours in that place!! I remember when Drew went, I was like ughhh they need one closer to the east coast, closer to where I live!!😩 You really got some beautiful pieces!!
Omggggg beautiful finds Macenna! Love the salvaged woods!!!!!
Many blessings ❣
Of course it’s ok, we love seeing your vlogs MaCenna. I had to add the pieces you bought from Olive Atilier are investment pieces, you didn’t go crazy you’re buying pieces that will last forever and they’ll just be the finishing touch that will make every room there in utter perfection.😁
The organic vases & teak items are really nice 😍
I'm laughing so hard, replace a tree? Only in the US xD
I love your happy vibe!
Hey macenna, i am from India and i wanted to give you a description of the marble you bought.
Its called a "Chakla" and its used to roll chapatis (breads) we each!! Hope you would notice ❤️ love your videos
The best place ❤
The marble trivet/slab is used in India as a platform to roll rotis (flat breads) on! It’s a must have thing in an Indian kitchen
Yes! I knew the store just for you lol
It's so funny to hear your more LA accent come out when you're there, and then your Louisiana/Texas accent come out when you're in Texas, haha. Love the vlog
I love everything you bought at that store. I could picture in my mind how each one could be displayed. I can’t wait to see the makeover you are planning.
Oh that store is FABULOUS! I would have no self control LOL Can't wait to see how you use them in your home.
I loved all the vases and things you bought at the store. They are absolutely beautiful. I love all your videos.
I loved the sink from the Turkish bathhouse, it was gorgeous. You looked so happy all weekend!🌞
Hi McKenna, loving that shop!!! Teak wood is the best wood for outdoor because it has a lot of natural oils that clog the pores of the wood and than water cannot get into it… but it also tends to stain linen (if you have outdoor sofa) xx 🥰
I love the olive jar and the trivet that you bought. Can’t wait to see how you style them!
Gorgeous pieces!!
Those pieces are phenomenal! I wish there was a place like that near me! I do have a few gorgeous olive pots with the ridges on them and they are my favorite! Great video...... ❤️
This was tote amazing
Love the pieces you got!!!
The items you purchased are amazing! The prices where way better than what I thought they would be. Can’t wait to see how you style your funds.
Tfs n taking us along on n showing us "ALL THE THINGS" LOL on ur fun, chill, exciting, cool, adventures💓💌😻
I love your shopping vlogs!!! 💕💕
What a fun haul! The whole
Vlog is a fun one. Such a beautiful life you have living in Cali and TX. So different, so many interesting place. Y’all enjoy your time together! ❤✌🏼
Haha I was just going to recommend to you that you NEED to visit Turkey. We just got back from Turkey and OMG we purchased a bunch of beautiful home items that would have cost a fortune here.
Always love a new Macenna vlog right after work! Definitely sets the right calming vibe for the rest of the day!
Omg absolutely love that shop 😍
Your mother should paint a moody floral on the bread board. You can have one side blank and the other with a painting so it can be flipped when you want to change it up ❤️🤎
That store looks amazing!
You are so sweet and dont act like the normal LA type person.... LOVE You..... & you are so talented with your DIY's We love learning from you
Love how much your accent changes when you are in the different states, sooo charming and why I love following you! For all the mixes and awsome videos ❤
Oh I would love to go to that store. I would go crazy. Loved everything from your haul. You have such great taste. Fun hanging out with you.
Wow this store looks so stunning 🤍🤍🤍🤍
Loved all the decor items you have picked….really glad you have something from India for your beautiful cottage. It’s basically used to make Indian bread ‘Roti’ we use a rolling pin on the marble plate (called Chakla in Hindi) to make rotis….😊
No worries girl! I’m here for the ride! Post what you can when you can xo
Love your autumn intro music 💛🧡❤🤎
MaCenna any content from you I greatly appreciate!! You work so hard on all your projects and content all of the time! You deserve to have down time and enjoy the life you and Romeo have built together! Love you !! 💗
