@Raidyn98 cheers mate, had a wicked time. Only in Melbourne for a few more days unfortunately, however I'll be cheering yous on from afar. Up the Storm!
Melbourne Storm are an incredible story of a new Rugby League team (1998) in a Australian Rules Football State. I simply love this team and have great gratitude to Craig Bellamy for his excellent coaching. Go Storm for the RL Finals.
The enthusiasm for the away team was because this is a finals match and thus is hosted by the league as an "neutral" NRL event. Our regular season games give nothing to the away team, not even their song. The higher placed team just gets to choose the ground.
So glad to see someone take in a Rugby League game for a change. So many have posted about Australian Rules but to truly compare like to like League is much closer to American Football.
@@wessleymcgrath9768 I agree! Love a bit of Aussie Rules, but NRL is defo the closest to the NFL. Makes sense why they did an exhibition match in Vegas earlier this year!
@@kelusport If you get the chance, get on over to next year's Vegas games. I think there is a deal for 5 years if I'm not mistaken, so you'll have the chance to go to them over there in the U.S. Storm aren't going to be there, but you could still enjoy.
Celebrations happen for the 'Away' team (Sharks) because, unlike regular season games, NRL playoffs are run by the NRL, not the hosting team. In the old days, when the competition was mainly teams based in the state of New South Wales, all playoffs were held at one central venue (Sydney Cricket Ground and later Sydney Football Stadium).

Our Craig Bellamy is a legend here. In his career as Storm coach for 23ish years they've only missed the finals series once. 2010 , thats a sad story. He's never lost the first game of a season.
@@gusdrivinginaustralia6168 didn't realise that, what a man! 23 years at one club is unreal, especially because the club's only been around since '98 if I'm not mistaken. Just found it peculiar how he has the same name as the former Liverpool player 😅

As for the appreciation of Away team, that was because it was a final, doesn't matter who is playing, only home team gets the appreciation in the Home and Away season, but finals it's a different story.
Aussies play hard and we like to win but I'd like to think we appreciate anything done well, even if it's the opposition we applaud ( just a little bit). Main difference with the NFL and the NRL is you won't see defenders doing a lap of honour just because they made a tackle in the NRL.
All the regular season games are hosted by the home team, but once it gets to the finals, the NRL takes over the running of games and of course they're going to be more neutral and even-handed when it comes to both teams.
