The UCI once again proving their absolute uselessness. Why is it that every sports organisation that's based in Switzerland is both so utterly incompetent and corrupt? We need to get them out in the light, away from the Swiss judicial darkness.

@@Tier_gs Under Swiss law these organisations aren't required to be transparent about their doings -- at least not compared to the EU. That's why FIFA, UEFA, the UCI, the IOC etc. are all based there.
And I seriously think it's about time the EU and others call this out. It can't be in our or these sports' interests to have their respective governing bodies hidden away from scrutiny and transparency.

UCI has a valid point. So many riders did a double-take on Pogacar’s wearing of the fuchsia/pink combination (like, “what the f*ck is that outfit???”), that the UCI correctly identified the danger of riders taking their eyes off the wheel in front. The fuchsia/pink outfit is clearly even a greater safety issue than long socks.

Mario Cipollini wore outrageous clothing, and he rode some outlandish bikes.
Paid a lot of fines too, oh sorry his sponsors paid! I miss those outfits and the days when watching tdf was fun, with riders doing crazy things in the quiet times. Too serious now.

Two points -
1. Firstly, I totally disagree with your preferred choice of black shorts and personally really like the mauve / pink jersey combination [and more importantly, Pogacar really liked them too!]
2. Mario Cippolini was fined numerous times for his garish choice of cycling apparel [eg: the striped see-thru skin suit he wore for a time trial and the 'stars and stripes' US flag style kit he wore when riding for Cannodale-Saeco].
It's nothing new - get over it.
That's just a distraction from not updating the drug testing to keep up with scientific research.
Riders should threaten to walk if the UCI are going to continue such ridiculous behaviour. Safety is important, colour schemes who cares.
Going to have to disagree with Benji - the two tone kit is the best looking one I've ever seen.

I was racing in the '90s with an old Park City cycling club skin suit but I didn't know it was threadbare and you could see my cheeks.
Some guy was on my wheel and he just kept calling me sexy and saying I should get a new skin suit.
Well at the end of the race it was a good bunch sprint and he sprints past me and he shouts at me" see you sexy".
Not too many guys faster than me but I didn't realize that that was freaking Steve Hegg, the Olympian and reiging US pro road race champion.
Pretty damn funny.
Saw him after the race and he said I should come by and pick up skin suit and jersey from his house.
He hooked me up with the LA sheriff's team.

I agree with LR. The only correct response to this two tone insult to the dignity of cycling is a two tone disqualification for each tone donned.
This reminds me of the helicopter headwind tricks from the '70s/'80s.
I find it very hard to believe that there was any serious consideration to disqualifying Tadej. More likely they just contacted him / the team and said to fix the issue ... irrespective of whether you or I agree with the rule or not. However, in the end, agree that the UCI has egg on its face after this has been posted and discussed quite a bit ... I'm sure the organizers are sorting out properly.

This is so clever, the riders criticise the last km’s of stage 4 so UCI threatens to disqualify Pogacar and nobody talks about the dangerous route.
So, its “illegal” to wear two-tone ski suit but its fine for a DS to hand out food, water, clothing etc while driving with a rider right next to the car, often no-handed while surrounded by the peloton and other cars plus motorcycles. Utter bollocks and totally removes any credibility of the UCI.

RCS isn't going to allow the DQ of Pogacar at the Giro for using "official Giro" clothing. But then again the UCI decided to regulate sock height.

Organizer's skinsuit and response. The problem is trying to do the color as an "honor" thing without communicating it to an extent. If a color of something is because its to be honored and it isn't plastered all over social media is it really honored? Just move back to all-pink now that you've "honored" it. No damage done.
If the actual reasoning is for a more neutral tone for the unders, sure UCI hop all over and let's see how that goes. But then please enforce brightly colored official jerseys! In most areas its fine but it is awful when it doesn't work.
