Kevin, this is a really good group of tips. I’m delighted you use Camera Raw/Bridge as the rest of us old school guys do. An aside, I love how you crack yourself up as you stay in touch with self-deprecating humor. Also… Portra FTW!
Sorry! I like the idea of offering a preset, but I don't really know where to start, and I'm apprehensive about having to offer tech support for something like that, so it's been on the backburner. OMG! Thank you! Sorry, late to the discussion. I’ve been feeling exactly the same but everybody tells me it’s an essential lens. Especially for photojournalism, concerts… But even then when I look at the most breathtaking shots, it’s almost never taken with the 24-70, almost always a 14-24 or 70-200. I do feel that a good 50 mm might be a better complement to my regular kit to fill the gap.
Just discovered your videos and want to say thank you for them, I've always liked cars since I was a kid and loved photographing them as a teen, now I'm a fine arts student specializing in media and my love for cars is coming up again. I often find tutorials on photo taking and editing to be super overwhelming and daunting, your videos are super chill, homey and personal feeling and really make me understand your work progress a lot and think of how to implement it for my own work. Thanks so much for your content! cant wait to see more :)))
I've been waiting for this one, thank you! I would love another editing video as well. I like how you said your goal is to have artistic photos with a car in them. I shoot with a similar goal (of course depending what the image and goal is etc), but a lot of the time I try to make my car photos not just about the car, but just as much or sometimes more about what else is going on in the pic, whether that be the location, the lighting, the composition etc... so a lot of the time the car will just be a - sometimes small - element in the photo. I also generally naturally drift towards making sure all the location/background lines are straight and symmetrical for some reason, so the transform/perspective area of my editing program gets a heavy work out (if I don't nail it in camera). I'm also constantly telling myself to try to shoot photos that people would want to print and put on their wall (so, beyond social media).
Just found your channel when scratching my head what lens to buy next (thanks for that video btw!) feels like ive stumbled on a little gold mine of info. Fantastic work and content
I love this channel man! I showed ur videos and IG to my brother and my dad and they loved ur videos. I’m new to car photography and I’m already learning a lot from theses videos. I hope you make a video of which lenses are the best to buy for car photography especially the ones with low F stop and what are the best for the budget. Keep up the good work man!
Wow, thanks so much! So cool to hear this. I have a video about focal lengths that goes into what I like and don't like: ruclips.net/video/TKpu8-T1-hg/видео.html . For me, a 50mm (f/~1.8) prime is an affordable lens that teaches you so much about framing and photography. You have to move your feet to change your composition, if the whole car doesnt fit in the frame, then you have to get creative with perspective and/or cropping. You can't go wrong with a 50mm, and I always carry one.
@@capturingthemachine thank you so much man I’ll buy it soon then!!! Thanks a lot for the advice and keep up the great videos! Ur literally my favorite photography RUclipsr now! 💪🏽🤛🏽🤛🏽🤛🏽
I shoot Nikon and yes, I notice it's often slightly cool. I often use the white balance to eyedropper on the bitumen, as that is often a neutral grey/ black tone. On the red Ferrari I would sample the grey on the front wheel. I guess there's not ones correct method, just different tools for different occasions. On the video, great casual format.
wow amazing tips, thank you so much! I would love to have you on an interview and share with me your creative flow among other artistic things I want to ask you

Thank you for the video, I just spotted that you are editing your photos in 8 bit. Not sure if your doing it intentionally but since you're working with RAW, wouldn't it be better to work in 16 bit?
You are correct, I mostly didn't use 16-bit out of laziness, and because I wasn't really doing any serious pixel manipulation edits where I needed the maximum amount of information. But it's true, it probably would have been better to use 16-bit.
has a person with adhd i still don't get how to edit photos, because there are silders that do this and there other silders that do this so for me it just way to confusing
Love this video learnt a lot! Thank you man! Big fan of your work! Would you share those two presets? Maybe if i pay for it? Because i cant find them anywhere.. But love the color those two presets give. Thank you for advance!
Thanks so much Greg! I don't have a good answer in the short term, but it's something I'll look into offering for down the road. If you Google for film/Portra presets, you will probably find something similar
My hat's off to you then - every time I shoot film, it never comes out like I hope it will. I shot a roll of Portra 400 w/ Nikon F4 last month, maybe I will post some of the photos next week, but they're nothing special 🥲
While working in Slovenia, my goal was to use cameras as basically a spectrometer. I was playing around with various generations of Sony and Canon, and their filters / sensors are so different that it's impossible to make Sony looks like Canon and vice versa. No amount of Photoshop can help, it's just the different physics.
it's all resizable; I probably didn't size it right in this video considering it probably won't be viewed in full screen, but it's generally not an issue.
