    Worked in the BBC during the late 1990s for a short time in marketing. The corporation has always been the mouthpiece of the state, even back in the heavy days when television looked golden. Now it's more or less on super steroids. Never has their been a time when social change messaging has been so obvious and open. The Ministry of Truth speaks to those who are receptive to the message, the younger generation, and those who who are LGBTQ etc... I don't hold out much hope for the future....

    • @Thurgosh_OG
      @Thurgosh_OG 8 дней назад +6

      The younger generations don't watch live broadcast television, they stream it. The main people being bullied into having bbc licences are the older people in the 60+ age group, many who still have the old fears about needing a licence, just for having a TV (which went away in 1980) but the propaganda from that was so strong, that many still think it applies today.

    • @dr.impossibleofcounterpunc1984
      @dr.impossibleofcounterpunc1984 8 дней назад +4

      @Thurgosh_OG Don't worry. The government will probably use a similar system to Australia, where ABC's funding is supported via the tax system. This means that you pay for the state broadcaster through a state tax with all the other bills. That way, you can not escape paying for the ABC, whether you want it or not. Streaming still serves a significant demographic of younger people, like you said, and the messaging is across the global corporate media, so it's reaching the necessary target audiences who will be influenced by it.

    • @halley4032
      @halley4032 8 дней назад +1

      @@dr.impossibleofcounterpunc1984 Yes, agreed. I reckon that when the licence review falls below a given threshold, the Govt WILL step in and, as you say, create a State Broadcast Tax, possibly adding it onto Council Tax, or just a separate tax. No way is this Govt, or even the last Govt, are allowing the BBC to fail, by losing licence revenue and having to compete fairly in the media entertainment market place, like everyone else. Never happen.

    • @dr.impossibleofcounterpunc1984
      @dr.impossibleofcounterpunc1984 8 дней назад +2

      @halley4032 Well said. Yes. We only have to look at the CBC in Canada as well. The BBC will never fail because the state props the corporation up through public subsidiary. Channel 4 is the same. Both corporations rely partly on the public partly finance these media bodies. To think that the BBC has a private company to promote and make revenue for the BBC called BBC Studios, which acts outside the BBC as a separate entity. Back in the day, the BBC had BBC Enterprises, which was owned by the BBC at the time, then John Birt came along with the then Conservative government and privatised the commercial arm, and turned it into BBC Worldwide. It effectively made huge profits for the BBC. That money in the billions could help fund the BBC permanently, but the establishment prefer making people suffer by getting them to fund the BBC instead. 😆 🤣 😂

    The licence fee funds several other BBC companies that are private entities making massive profits every year but the BBC never has any money. It can waste many millions on new offices and sets despite closing down offices in the same location a few years ago and the licence fee won't ever be cancelled. The BBC has a revolving door system for ex government ministers who can earn £300k a year for a directorship, it's a bribe of course.
    As far as DIE goes, ridiculous waste of money, give the job to the best person for the job, and this turning everything on TV into a diversity fest is just madness which is creating more division. Funnily enough I didn't see 25% white people in Wakanda!!!!!

    sadly, as an american, the only place I can get detailed football stories on lower league football is bbc online. but it seems like every other day they run a story about some footballer being racially abusive to a black footballer and I just refuse to believe, from my experience with british people (english in particular), that in 2024, racism is this rampant. I'll concede that football can sometimes bring out the worst in some people, but the BBC is painting a false narrative if you ask me. diversity for diversity sake doesn't make you anti-racist, it makes you MORE racist than the people your attacking because all you notice is race and fail to see merit and/or accomplishments.

    • @j0hnf_uk
      @j0hnf_uk 7 дней назад

      It's anything, however insignificant, they can use to push their narrative. Being, 'racist', for example can be anything at all that is seen as a slight against any individual who just happens to be black. And yet, the likes of the BBC will blow the entire thing out of proportion, exaggerate and be as economical with the truth as they can, in order to portray white people, (heterosexual males in particular), as being the worst kinds of bigot imaginable. The hone in on such trivialities, not only to push the narrative, but to keep them in positions where they're seen as virtuous and, 'on the right side of history.' They're delusional and/or disingenuous at best.

    When they say DEI, what they mean is Black, Trans/LGBTQ and/or Disabled. That's it! Have you noticed that e.g., on EastEnders, they'll say, ooh we've hired some new characters who will become a new family in the square. Invariably, they will either be Black or Indian/Asian. Never from East/South East Asian countries such as China, Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand etc. Name me one Family in the last 20 years on EastEnders that has come from one of these countries? How many trans characters has EastEnders had? None? They had a character turn Lesbian then didn't know what the hell to do with her, so she never has had a serious relationship. They have Gay characters, then get rid of them (Johnny/Ben). The same with disabled characters (Donna/Frankie). The only one left is Billy & Honey's daughter Janet, and she's often side-lined or ignored. DEI my arse. It's a complete joke!

      Only certain types of Disabled as well. If you got neurological conditions your not represented at all like: Autism for example. Imagine a tv license fee in the US. They'd have to give combat pay to the government agents who went around to people's houses to try to pressure them into paying, because those people would be getting shot at regularly. Not that we don't have similar fees here, but PBS is shrewd enough to have their public fee collected as a part of existing taxes so no one notices. Where I live we have a state "ZAP tax," that is zoo, arts, and parks, but at least two out of three of those are inherently apolitical. And there are dozens of non-profit groups who scrutinize how every ZAP dollar is spent.

    • @quantisedspace7047
      @quantisedspace7047 7 дней назад

      Thing is, the goons in the UK are not Government Agents. They are just salespersons, who used the law and people's ignorance of it to force sell people something they don't want.
      A lot of people think they are govt agents, police, MI5, bailiffs, court officials. They aren't.
      They can, however, get a warrant to enter your premises. Even so, people have still turned them out, often because the 'warrant' is just a blank piece of paper
      They only prey on the weak and vulnerable
