  • How to replace Fuel Filter & Prime/Bleed Fuel System using OBD tool.
    It is good practice to change the fuel filter on your diesel engine every other oil change to ensure optimal performance. This video should make it easy to do so! Don't forget to prime your system before starting the vehicle, as it is not good to run the fuel pump dry.

      Most likely not. Their cheap ones that can only read general codes will not work. If it can read different modules probably yes

    why is it necessary to have diagnostic tools for and prime? just switch the ignition on and it will take care of itself, and the pump turns off when the required pressure is reached.

    • @Lefteris7
      @Lefteris7  Год назад +2

      If you want to do it correctly you need to prime the pump. You can definitely do it without priming but you will run the pump dry and decrease it's life. Takes no effort to prime, do it the right way instead :)

    With all due respect, these cars have a self bleeding system & venting system. No need to use a Diag tool for it ! It's written in the books how to use the self bleeding system. Worked for changing injectors, fuel pumps.. etc ! :-)

    • @Lefteris7
      @Lefteris7  Год назад +4

      With all due respect, I'm not sure where it's written in the books to NOT prime the fuel system. It's literally the easiest thing and ensures longevity of the high pressure fuel pump from running. That's "in the books" from Bosch for their pump.
      I am curious though why you are watching a diy video in it's entirety on replacing a diesel fuel filter if you already know more than me

      @@Lefteris7 well, as with many video’s , people take examples. It’s not needed. The car PRIMES itself! Read the haynes manuals and workshop manuals. No need for a diagnostic tool or anything. Saves people money!

    • @Lefteris7
      @Lefteris7  Год назад +1

      I would not risk priming via ignition as you will stress the fuel pump prematurely. I highly advise you get some sort of diagnostic to do this whether it's protool, or some other obd that can do this

    • @yentsch

      I agree. I did not prime mine correctly years ago. I believe I may have damaged the mechanical fuel pump and years later needed to replace it. It is not an inexpensive pump.
