“Usually what happens is one person is happy and the other is sad. But what makes this special is that one person is happy and two people will be sad “
I love when the position gets complicated. I know that many GMs say that only weak players need to complicate, but they still make for some fantastically fun games.
Absolutely, black is actually winning, and this might be weird but I feel it's more satisfying if black survives this and converted that into a win. A calculated queen sac? Sure, move of the century, but this one is pretty bold and luckily the opponent isn't magnus carlsen that the sac worked.
@@oanhienlong7264 I mean White was objectively still fine after the queen sac (iirc the position was +0.3 or something, basically equal but easier to play for white). White just ended up with a losing position because Andreikin was really low on time and Bacrot was defending pretty well (at least not including exd5).
@@anderpanders6210 There's nothing special at 8:00. I guess it was the RUclips feature that automatically includes the current play time into the comment.

#suggestion Grischuk-Andreikin from Round 1 of this Belgrade leg of Grand Prix. Amazing tactical combination, worth sharing now that Andreikin has qualified for the semis.
What a move to take the rook!! After a long think depth 50-60 stock fish says the position is equal only after recapturing with the night but for a human it sure leads to a lot of play for white.
I'm sure most of the times at the high level both players know. Thats basically what theory is, creating a new position is challenging your opponent to prove why it's an inferior line
Just wondering, at 9:15 you gave the hypothetical scenario of black mocing his Knight to C6 then white capturing the rook on A8 and then the game continuing on from there but wouldn't a better move for white be to just capture the knight on C6 with the rook on C1 instead? That seems like a better option for white unless Im missing something super obvious.
Then ra8 takes rc8 and white is worse. Black bishop is no longer pinned so white can't take the queen on d6. White would have to retake on c8 and it's a bigger pain dealing with the queen without the rook pair.
@@sure7130 Ah wow I suck didnt notice the bishop was no longer pinned. Appreciate the explanation, I knew I had to have been missing something for the almighty Agad to not show it!

@@thewarlordscalling6537 Honestly, I was shocked that Bacrot did not see g4 being really annoying when he captured the knight, and he did not capture it instantly. I was sure he must have had a plan for g4 that I didn't see, but he didn't. I can only guess he was really fatigued from all the prior calculations in the game.
