    Good afternoon Tom, It's amazing how many videos are teaching things that only cause us amateur golfers such frustrations when trying to improve our golf swings. I've been golfing for about 30 years now and I remember reading all the golf digest magazines when I first started playing and it was great back then because many of the greatest tips came from Arnold , Jack, Sam, Gary, Ben and many other great players of the game. When I first discovered your site two months ago and just watched and listened to your teachings, and really applied what your saying and instructions to create this sound swing, without the body pains, the fact like you mentioned " listen to your body its trying to tell you when something doesn't make sense" truer words could not have been spoken. So last night I had my wife watch and listen to the contact I was making in my backyard hitting into the net, I'm not kidding when I tell you I have never hit as many shots into the net or when playing in the past two weeks that were pure and my wife agreed. Living in the Northeast makes preseason warm up a little challenge, but how great a feeling knowing what's happening in my swing thanks to you.
    Tom, please keep doing what your doing and I will gladly suggest your RUclips channel to people that I feel would greatly benefit after so many years of trying to do way to many things in the swing which frankly just set me and others back. But thankfully your swing and approach is just what amateur golfers need to move them forward and start enjoying this great game we all love without the many frustrations that come with following the wrong advice.
    Keep the videos coming.
    Sincerely,
    Dennis

      I sincerely appreciate your kind and validating remarks, Dennis, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and teaching style are resonating with you!! Excellent job incorporating incorporating my instruction into your swing; I hope it makes for a most enjoyable season for you up there!
      Yes - sadly, many well-intended yet misguided teachings of widely accepted modern "conventional" instruction - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the club, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively hinging the wrists and rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). I’m doing my best here to clear these up, put an end to the madness, and get folks on the path towards consistently crispy, powerful, body-friendly ball striking bliss.
      Thanks again for your message and support, and I am most grateful for your referrals! Keep up the great work under your wife's watchful eye!!

    Hey Tom, (64 year old here) I’ve been working with a few of your tips (straight arm, tucked elbow, shoulder turn, weight forward) and was hitting drives over 270 today rather than my usual 230ish. Way more accurate too. Thanks for the simplicity of your explanations. It’s really making a difference.☮️

      PS: By the way, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.

      As you now know, you don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought!

    Ok, I gonna let a long boring comment with my frenchglish. I’m 61 and play golf since 1990. I rarely miss a Saguto’s vid and after watching and watching them I decided this morning to play 9 hole through S&T. For the first time. And I can say just one word: CRISPY. I scored my handicap effortlessly in spite of my course is somehow unplayable due to aridity. It was amazing. Except the wedging I played all my shots with my « new » S&T and all was easy, smooth and fast, accurate and I discovered a new cool song from my forged heads. Something like both Chet Baker and Debussy!! My funny Valentine au clair de lune😊!!
    No joke, it was like a rebirth this morning and if I’m aware I have to work on it now it was easy and bringing no pain to my old used back of dentist. Congratulations for giving us the opportunity to enjoy the game. I guess 97% of pros don’t teach it cause they’re unable to do it so that they say: it doesn’t work. May be it’s not the best way for a top pro who works his swing 8 hours a day but it’s the best way to reach a single hcp and even scratch for all the weekenders. I’m going to join the lessons online. I can’t explain why but it seems impossible to miss a shot with this S&T. And it was the first time without any coaching today !! ❤

      @SagutoGolf  Месяц назад +1

      That is OUTSTANDING!! 💪💪 I sincerely appreciate your kind words regarding my instruction and teaching style, and I am thrilled for your improvement and resulting excitement!!
      Actually, this body-friendly, powerful, low-maintenance Stack and Tilt swing system is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. Watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top. It does not matter what they call it; that is simply what they are doing. 😎
      Compare and contrast these facts with the sad reality that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well).
      Thank you again for your message, keep up the great work, and I look forward to having you in the online school where you will take your learning - and your game - to the next level!!
      Tom

      @pjpcadet Месяц назад

      Yes Tom! Outstanding! As if I always played this way! I can’t imagine to go back to my old conventional swing, not bad but not enough consistent. Sure I’ve been playing since 32 years but as you say the conventional swing means to practice a lot and I’m too busy. Your one is physiologically logical and I noticed that at the top of the backswing I don’t think of anything. All works naturally till the follow through. I just think of my lead shoulder down then my trail one goes effortlessly down at impact. I’m excited to discover this new world and frustrated not to have done it during these 2 last decades. I am to join your teaching right now ( at least tomorrow). I had a look at your website from a long time but I still don’t know how the lessons by video work. Is it live or can I send vids? How do you follow your students to evaluate their improvement and so on? That’s the point for me but I’m sorry to tell you have a new annoying student today.
      PS: No doubt top world players have some parts of their swing which come from S&T. Not only great Ben Hogan but Adam Scott, Justin Rose, Jake Knapp, Victor Dubuisson who retired and so many others. It’s obvious.

    I watched a lot of golf this weekend (the PGA, LPGA), and I notice a lot of players put their right hand on the club UNDERNEATH … in the fingers first, then curl their hand onto the top of the club.
    Now I get it … has nothing to do with their grip. They’re setting the inside of their right elbow facing outward
    You’re a Golf GENIUS! 👊🏻
    Now, another issue …
    I watched a Malaska video and he talked about the “levers” of the hands and arms (not so much body) in the downswing.
    So today, I tried SLINGING the club … tried to allow my hands to win the race to the ball before your right shoulder.
    I thought it would feel weak, but I hit some powerful shots.
    Really have to focus on slowing the right shoulder down until AFTER impact.
    Your thoughts? 🤔
    Great stuff as always, Tom 👏🏻
    Keep rockin’ 🎶

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Месяц назад +7

      Indeed, Mike - I just gave away the "cheat code" to what they are doing during that gripping process. Shame on me! 😎
      With regard to your question, I choose to "stay in my lane" when it comes to other lesson content out there. That's certainly not a slap against any other methodologies; it's simply that the system I teach is rooted in physics and geometry, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. As such it works for me and for countless golfers across the globe who continue to flood my inbox with unsolicited testimonials of enjoying the best golf of their lives.
      Having said that, just like for those golfers with premature hip "firing" who might do well to feel the shoulders ahead of the hips as suggested in a recent channel episode, those with overactive shoulders can do well to accentuate the arm action. This is why one of the downswing initiators I teach is getting the lead arm off the chest immediately at the transition.
      As you know well by now, I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. As such, it is important to understand that the lessons on this channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my RUclips content. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness.
      Thanks - I appreciate your ongoing support!
      Tom

    I find your videos to be both instructional and validating. So much of it confirms what I'm trying to do. Years ago I was a recreational golfer shooting anywhere from low 80s to a hundred. Then I got lessons that really sent me into the abyss. I literally couldn't find the top of my backswing. So much anxiety and frustration! I'm a 12 handicap now trending downward. More importantly, I thoroughly enjoy playing. Your videos have helped me to simplify the game and play with very little anxiety and frustration.

    Brother….. you might have just saved me. I’m a 6 handicap and was playing some of the best golf of my life the last year. All of a sudden a week ago I lost my swing. Started hozel shanking like 90% of my iron shots and completely ruined me. Was literally shaking over the ball all week and watched so many anti shank videos that just made things worse. Just hit 200 balls on the range this morning only thinking about keeping my right elbow tucked in, weight more forward and pointing my lead shoulder down towards the ball on the takeaway and didn’t hit a single shank. Mostly flushed draws. Confidence immediately restored

    You fixed my swing again. I was doing everything wrong that you talk about in the video. I was taking the club back too straight and then had to readjust the club on the downswing. It tries to make the golf swing simple. Yes, golf is a difficult sport but the golf swing shouldn't be complicated as others have made it. Yes, Mike - Unfortunately, such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction rarely finds its way to the mainstream because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant....... 😎Consider that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of modern “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). I’m doing my best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness.
      To this end, I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play. Thanks so much for sharing your improvement, keep up the great work, and have fun out there!!

    Great video and like any golf move or tip you can over do it. Taking the club back as you are suggesting is excellent and that is in fact what most pros do. Unfortunately, most amateurs whip the club way too inside and that is the root cause of many swing faults leading to a disaster and much inconsistency. They need to feel the opposite when learning. Use video since you are almost never doing what you think you are. The key to taking the club back correctly is to NOT rotate the hands/forearms and to NOT push the hands out. The hands should follow the body rotation in an arc as you do. How far the clubhead is outside the toe line on a proper backswing is a function of when you start to set the wrist by pushing down on the butt end of the handle. The final piece of this which you did not discuss is to ensure you get good depth in the backswing with a feeling of external rotation of the right shoulder which you do nicely. A video on this would be helpful.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Месяц назад

      I appreciate that and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
      I agree and endeavor to be quite clear in my instruction that we are not talking about a disconnected handsy snatch or roll to the inside - just a natural tracing of the outer rim or circumference of our inclined swing circle/arc. As for external rotation of the trail arm/shoulder, I do have content specific to the topic, and beyond that this takeaway action enables the golfer to accomplish it virtually on autopilot if they keep their connections intact.
      And indeed we create depth in this swing, and that enables us to fully engage the shoulders and harness the tremendous power of swinging on an inclined arc courtesy of the seemingly effortless force of angular momentum.
      Thanks again for your message and helpful detail!

With the aid of a launch monitor I dialled my swing in with a strong grip it was hard not to go left now with the weaker grip I go to the right and the swing feels great. One of my best friends is a retired golf pro instructor for the last 40 years and he didn’t pick it up but a strong grip can cause problems as per one of your clips maybe going over this may help other people I dropped 10shots

      I was using JumboMax Ultralite grips in extra-large for much of 2022 and the first part of 2023, Matthew. I had wanted to give them a try for a few reasons, including the fact that DeChambeau uses them and we share similar swing philosophies. I personally liked the feel as well as how they helped to keep my hands quiet through the zone.
      Now, having said that, I purchased a new set of PXG's in the spring of 2023, and since they don't carry the Jumbo's in-house I went with their largest available grip, which is a midsize. I absolutely love the clubs, and I'm putting the factory grips through the playing test before deciding whether or not to have them regripped. There are no issues with the Jumbos and I still really like the way they feel; that's just where I'm at presently.
      The Jumbos are not necessarily for everyone - and my fingers are a bit longer than average - so I routinely tell folks to "try before you buy." However, having a properly sized grip that feels both comfortable and secure is critically important as it is our only connection to the object that is going to deliver us blissful joy or deep anguish, yet it is perhaps also the most overlooked equipment fitting component in golf.
      I appreciate your kind words with regard to my swing! My pleasure, Brian!
      The swing is a tilted circle (or arc, if we wish to get technical), the circumference of which extends from the ball to above and behind our shoulders. As such, if we are going to remain on that circle/arc it requires the hands and club to take a slightly inward path - not a disconnected handsy snatch or roll to the inside - just a natural tracing of the outer rim or circumference. The feeling of "straight back" can easily pull the golfer off of that preestablished geometry right from the start, and from there precise compensatory actions are necessary if there is any hope of returning the clubface to the ball on the proper path time after time. So rather than have to rely on "dropping it in the slot" the exact amount each and every swing, why not just put in the slot from the start and just keep it there?! 😎
      We create depth in this swing, and that enables us to fully engage the shoulders and harness the tremendous power of swinging on an inclined arc courtesy of the seemingly effortless force known as "angular momentum" - where physics and geometry collide.
      And by the way, while I certainly have other lesson videos that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ If you have not already worked through it this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

    Hi Tom, how are these takeaway principles with irons differentiate from a Driver? I've been having a tough time slicing a good amount on the driver and still working on it

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Месяц назад +1

      It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ruclips.net/video/o0xscMyN3v8/видео.html Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content.
      Oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the driver it can be attributed to one of the following:
      1) Their hips are not continuing their lateral slide through impact. This is common with the driver as the wider stance means that the hips have a greater distance to travel. If the hips stop moving laterally towards the target on the downswing then their rotation takes over, inhibiting any further necessary forward weight loading (we should be 80/20 forward halfway down, 90/10 at impact, and 95/5 in the finish), changing the low point and rerouting the club into a steeper angle of attack (AoA). This can produce a variety of undesirable results including fat and thin contact, topped shots and popups, straight pulls, and “banana” slices.
      Of great importance is keeping your upper torso/head in place (in other words, not moving towards the target from a face-on view) while the hips execute the lateral slide action. This preserves the swing center and the desired shallow AoA.
      2) They are not allowing the length of the club to dictate the backswing path and are getting too steep as a result. The shaft of the driver is considerably longer than the other clubs and thus requires more of an around the body backswing as established by the shaft plane at address. It may "feel" flat as they take it back along the shaft plane for the first few feet, but as long as they maintain the "weight forward, shoulder down, and hands in" components while allowing the club to work around them, it should put them in the proper position at the top so they can attack the ball from the inside. (A good feel for that lead shoulder is "down and in, under the chin".)
      3) Many believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. However, consider that in our stock setup with the driver the hands are even with the inside of the lead thigh (as they are with all clubs when playing a standard shot) and our ball position is even with the inside of the heel of the lead foot. This presets a very slight degree of forward shaft lean with the driver. Beyond that, the ball is behind the zero-point of the swing (which is even with the lead shoulder), meaning that without any contrived manipulations the club will still be on its descent - albeit very close to flat - at impact. So, perhaps with the exception of folks with slower swing speeds - or those Long Drive participants teeing it extra high and hitting maybe 1-2 balls out of 10 onto a 60-yard wide "fairway" - in general the path is still ever so slightly down. In fact, the PGA Tour average with the driver is actually minus (e.g.: downward) 1.5 degrees - nearly level - and it should feel level - but slightly down nonetheless. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws )

      The answer lies in ball flight laws. Clubface angle relative to target line is the primary influencer of the ball's starting line and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. From there we can then do some reverse engineering to identify the reason the ball is behaving as it does. So for a straight pull, the face is likely closed to the target line and square to an out-to-in (steep) downswing path. From there the challenge is in identifying and neutralizing the cause of that path and impact condition.
      While there are certainly videos on my channel that address various potential causes of that type of path and impact condition, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

      Without actually seeing your swing it is impossible for me to diagnose the true cause of your early extension. As a drill you can place a tee in each armpit, secure them with the upper arm connections, and then make full swings with the tees remaining in place from start to finish. (You can hit balls doing this as well.)
      Also, the Precision Impact that I demonstrated in this video - ruclips.net/video/EQl-DO79uJki/видео.htmls - is an excellent training aid that will help you to neutralize the cause and overcome this issue. I highly recommend it. If interested you can get your Precision Impact Trainer here - pureswingproducts.com/SagutoGolf (use code CRISPYKFC for $20 Off and Free Shipping).

    I had EXACTLY this problem and the same feels and thoughts as you, becoming disconnected and my right elbow flying by trying to take it back straight.
    Your left shoulder down, right knee 'dips' and 'swivels' down to/around the ball, as right leg straightens, all whilst holding that weight a smidge into left side(forward)- seems to be yielding better results.
    I feel like I'm sort of near 'toppling forward and into ball", a bit, on the backswing. Is that what you feel at all, yourself??
    Anyway, I'm hopefully getting all the pieces into my KFC bucket.

      Hi Brian,
      I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible as we're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. Having said that, "toppling forward and into ball" is not one that I've heard or taught before! 😎 This doesn't necessarily mean that it's wrong, though, because if it is getting you into the correct position then it is serving its purpose. The feels I typically have include tilting towards the target while keeping my head in place, or pushing my lead shoulder down to my lead knee - also while keeping my head in place, or the simple act of pointing the lead shoulder at the ball (which was Arnold Palmer's favorite tip), or just turning my shoulder under the chin. It all depends on the day and the new possibilities for lesson content that are flowing through my head...
      Anyway, if you'd really like to get on the fast track towards the extra crispy KFC buffet by properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, sequential platform, then please give strong consideration to my online school. It will make for a far more efficient, superior, and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic. The school is where you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish, along with diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet.
      Thanks for your message and support, and keep up the great work!!

      Thanks - I'm very glad to know that my instruction and teaching style are resonating with you! If you enter the word "grip" in my channel's search bar you should find a good bit of content.
      My main concerns with regard to grip are that the handle remains secure in the fingers throughout the entirety of the motion and that the proper hinging and unhinging of the wrists is fully supported without any contrived effort. Beyond that, each golfer is free to determine what style and pressure works best for them (while, of course, keeping in mind the potential issues discussed in various videos if the grip leaks too much toward the strong side).

      Nice job figuring that out, Dave! As your experience suggests, we each must be keenly aware of our individual tendencies and act accordingly when developing our swing.
      This is precisely why I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. @SagutoGolf  Месяц назад +1

      The difference is substantial. With the YT channel Crispier than KFC Club you will receive one members-only lesson video per week plus access to the archive of past member videos. The online school, on the other hand, is a comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. Additionally, you'll find all my short game content (putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play), diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and so much more. Also, through the school you would still have access to the KFC Club channel member videos, so if you were to enroll there would be no need to maintain both memberships. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value of the school membership in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet.

    Hey, Tom, is it okay for the lead knee to "turn" in a little bit, versus just flexing forward with the weight shift?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  29 дней назад

      A "little bit" is within the range of tolerance, Michael, as long as we don't allow our weight - and thus our swing center - to shift backwards. This system certainly allows for transfer of “pressure” into the trail side. After all, we are moving the mass of the arms and club back and around us during the takeaway and backswing. Some like to sense the dynamic pressure shifts; others prefer the feel of a gradual increasing of weight load into the lead leg from the start.

    such a great move -- it freaks me out a little bc I get the feeling the clubface is filet wide open though and it's still not natural for me to have that right wrist twist to close the face independently of the rest of the right arm.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  26 дней назад +1

      No need to freak out! The external rotation of the trail arm occurs without any contrived action. This is very important as we don't want any manufactured hand/wrist action, and definitely no snatching or rolling of the club to the inside. In other words, if we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper arm, wrist, and hand action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power.

    Are you doing any type of “flipping the wrists” at impact?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Месяц назад +1

      Nope. Not at all. With regard to this erroneous notion that we need to affect some type of active hand-rolling or wristy “release", given the inability of most folks to spend sufficient time at the range to lock in the required exactness of such an action this misguided thought has led countless golfers astray. It's not something that even the vast majority of pros are trying to consciously manufacture during the split second that the clubhead is traveling a distance of approximately 6' from parallel to parallel at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The forearms will naturally "trade places" from pre- to post-impact, but this should not be construed as a contrived move (although many a casual observer has gone down that rabbit hole).
      There really ought not be any active manipulation of the hands through the zone and attempts to precisely time any such rolling or flipping - which does nothing for swing speed - have relegated many an amateur to the vast abyss of inconsistency and frustration. Instead, simply "allow" the wrists and hands to react without forcing anything. I have a couple questions about the swing if thats okay. 1. What do you do with the wrists in the swing. 2 How long through the follow through should you keep your left arm straight. 3 how do you properly grip the club i believe i am doing it correctly but not sure.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Месяц назад +1

      I simply "allow" the wrist hinge to happen without forcing anything. If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power. That answers the first two questions. 😎
      My main concerns with regard to grip are that the handle remains secure in the fingers throughout the entirety of the motion and that the proper hinging and unhinging of the wrists is fully supported without any contrived effort. Beyond that, each golfer is free to determine what style and pressure works best for them (while, of course, keeping in mind the potential issues discussed here if the grip leaks too much toward the strong side: ruclips.net/video/3aMdJ5XLxqY/видео.html ).

      I really like Bryson's move! We need to be careful in our analysis, though, as he is shifting "pressure" in his driver swing, but not "weight". This is observed by how centered he remains, with his head essentially remaining in place from setup through impact. (Some cocking of the head to the rear - which I also have in my swing - is perfectly fine. The key is that the head is not moving backwards.) As a scientist and a true student of the swing, Bryson understands that swinging around a stable axis is critical to both power and consistency.

      Hi Robert,
      My own personal "feels" are not relevant to you because they are unique to me. 😎 Beyond that, they do change quite regularly as I'm always thinking about new possibilities for my lesson content. (Although as long as my setup is good and I've pre-established the necessary connections, I can trust that no matter my "trigger du jour", it's going to get me moving properly into the takeaway and backswing.) This is why I do my best to convey multiple feels or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and ball striking results.
      This is one reason why the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school is so effective, and why thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Hey! I would do this at first but I was stuck at a 15 handicap. My swing caused a lot of misses left and uncontrollable draws and sometimes borderline hooks. Everyone around me told me to take the club straight back and now all I do is shank. How can I continue to use the inside take away but eliminate/control the draw?

    • @SagutoGolf

      There is no correlation between the *_correct_* execution of this motion and hooking. Where some go wrong is in snatching the club inside with the hands and/or losing their relationship with the ball (the Tilt component). In either of those scenarios a hook can be a potential outcome. Other possibilities include - but are not limited to - a ball position that is too far forward, hands are too far back at address, weight is not forward enough at impact, grip is too strong, face is closed at address.

      There has been quite a bit of dialogue in the Members' Forum of my online school on the topic of how to transport "Ranger Rick" to the golf course. We all experience that! All I can tell you is that it is part of the process, and as your practice performance becomes more and more consistent, then it's just a function of time in terms of when/how that will translate itself to the pressures and challenges of actual play. As confidence in your swing grows you should find more and more that you are playing "golf" instead of "golf swing" on the course, at which point your mechanical thoughts will be reduced to one or two at the most, and you will be nearly entirely focused on your target and not your swing. An excellent book that may help you with this is "Fearless Golf: Conquering the Mental Game" by Dr. Gio Valiante. Another book that I like is "Play Your Best Golf Now" by Lynn Marriott & Pia Nilsson.
      Beyond that, it is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my RUclips content. unrelated, but cant find this info on any of ur vids; for driver, is your weight still forward despite leaning backwards?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Месяц назад

      You may be surprised by the answer, Chad, but we actually place slightly more weight forward with the longer clubs including the driver at address - approximately 60/40 vs. 55/45 with the short and mid irons. This occurs naturally during the setup process due to the wider stance for the longer clubs.
      As for "leaning backwards", that is not necessary. In fact, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ruclips.net/video/o0xscMyN3v8/видео.html Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content.
      I am aware that many folks out there believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. However, consider that in our stock setup with the driver the hands are even with the inside of the lead thigh (as they are with all clubs when playing a standard shot) and our ball position is even with the inside of the heel of the lead foot. This presets a very slight degree of forward shaft lean with the driver. Beyond that, the ball is behind the zero-point of the swing (which is even with the lead shoulder/armpit), meaning that without any contrived manipulations the club will still be on its descent - albeit very close to flat - at impact.
      For these reasons I do not advocate trying to hit up on the ball, and efforts to do so due to erroneous advice have caused many an amateur significant issues with their driver.
      Upon learning this swing properly you will be harnessing the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". This is the reason my students and online school members of all age ranges end up bombing it farther than they ever had previously, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. I seem to hit hooks from this position. Is it due to closed club face

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  23 дня назад

      First of all, to be clear the swing is a tilted circle (or arc, if we wish to get technical), the circumference of which extends from the ball to above and behind our shoulders. As such, if we are going to remain on that circle/arc it requires the hands and club to take a slightly inward path - not a disconnected handsy snatch or roll to the inside (which could absolutely result in a hook) - just a natural tracing of the outer rim or circumference.
      Beyond that, there are just too many potential variables and unknowns for me to make an accurate diagnosis regarding your hook tendencies. For example, if your path was previously too steep and you were making compensations to prevent the ball from slicing off the planet - perhaps a very strong grip or setting up with a closed face - then those compensations could certainly result in a hook if you have successfully corrected your path. Other things to consider are your ball position is too far forward, your hands are too far back, your weight is not forward enough at impact, more.....

      There is something amiss in the setup or execution, Tommie. I say this with high confidence as the system I teach is a proven body-friendly method. I can vouch for that through my own personal experience as a golfer who previously experienced back pain, and it is further validated by the fact that a significant percentage of my students and online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.

      @SagutoGolf  12 дней назад +1

      I'm not sure who "they" are, but I do not subscribe to that feel, nor does it fit within the swing system that I teach.
      We create depth in this swing, and that enables us to fully engage the shoulders and harness the tremendous power of swinging on an inclined arc courtesy of the seemingly effortless force known as "angular momentum" - where physics and geometry collide. Watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of players executing motions consistent with this system, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top.
      With regard to watching different videos from different sources, please be careful in navigating the muddied, overly-complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. That is not a dig against any other teachers out there. It's simply best to commit to a system - whether it be this body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance method or another - put your blinders on, and stick to it. Problem occurs when you assume the shoulders will turn the hips. it seems to me you have to do both together otherwise a reverse pivot will occur

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Месяц назад

      A reverse pivot can only occur if there is a weight shift from the lead side to the trail side in the motion, Stephen, and I do not teach a weight shift. However, in either scenario the key here is that we do not allow our mass - and thereby our swing center and low point - to drift back at any point.
      And with the proper setup, we don't have to assume that the shoulders will turn the hips because they absolutely will! For example, the outward flaring of both feet 10-20 degrees facilitates the proper amount of body-friendly, free-flowing hip turn back and through in response to the shoulder action. This is a major power move that also keeps the club traveling on the correct path. If you were to square your feet so that they were perpendicular to the target line, then your hips would be impeded from turning sufficiently in the backswing (which would then inhibit the shoulders from executing a full and effortless turn), and from releasing properly in the downswing to propel the club through the zone.

    Is this a single plane swing?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  29 дней назад

      This is a one plane or single plane motion, Suzanne, although it should not be confused with instruction that took the "single plane" brand name.

    This promoting a stronger grip?? Looking stronger in both hands than your old tutorials

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Месяц назад

      It's really not though, David. The crease in my lead hand is in a very neutral position, and the trail hand crease is parallel to it. Notice that after I preset the trail arm, I then rotate the hand inward to take the grip while keeping the arm in place. The pressure point of the trail hand on top of the lead thumb is very much intact and thus supportive of a proper and naturally occurring wrist hinge.

    Thanks, Tom. Your stack and tilt technique is 🐃💩. Dude, I just shot a drunk 84 at Anaheim Hills golf course in California using your technique from the black tees. I should have shot in the 70s if it wasn't for some push hooks off the tee on the back nine. My question is, how do you straighten out those hooks from my driver.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Месяц назад

      LOL! That's awesome!! 💪💪 I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play.
      There are just too many potential variables and unknowns for me to make an accurate diagnosis regarding your hook tendencies with the driver. For example, if your path was previously too steep and you were making compensations to prevent the ball from slicing off the planet - perhaps a very strong grip or setting up with a closed face - then those compensations could certainly result in a hook if you have successfully corrected your path. Other things to consider are your ball position, hand position, weight distribution, a path that is too shallow, more.....
      While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option for you would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews
