Another great video Tom! Absolutely loved the add-in golfer slicing his driver. I wonder if he retrieved all the stuff he threw or if the ground crew placed them the lost and found...
I do. I was Mr. Hands. Hit with my hands. Now that i understand the swing, i pull my upper body through with lower and hands don’t hit at ball. They go through in direction of shoulders and arms
Saguto is the best instructor there is. Period. So much of the other online stuff completely screwed up my game with positions of this that and the other thing that made things so overwhelming and mechanical I heard a marching band in my head standing over the ball. Then I started to see Toms stuff. Thank the good lord above as I was about to quit. Tom if you're reading this I've seen nowhere that speaks of the possibility of in person lessons or zoom/facetime in person coaching or chats. Is this something you simply don't do? And if so could you steer those of us interested in the right direction? Thanks so much for all!
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Ian, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and teaching style are resonating with you and providing clarity and simplicity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction! The golf swing is indeed overly complicated in particular by one part of the human body: the brain and all the swing nonsense and misguided instruction it has been fed. Garbage in, garbage out; and countless golf swings have sadly been trashed as a result. This is not saying that golf is "easy" as it most certainly is anything but. However, the complexities of the swing - both real and perceived - can indeed be greatly simplified as I regularly seek to demonstrate. I had phased out private lessons (both in-person and virtual) awhile back so I could dedicate more time to my online school. I've not yet set a specific date for when I will resume them (it should be fairly soon), but when I do the virtual lessons will be reserved exclusively for my online school members. In-person lessons at my South Carolina location will be open to members and non-members. If you are in my online school please send me a message through the "chat" feature and I will add you to my list to be notified when slots open up. Also, I am presently offering a swing video analysis service to my school members as a means to support their progress in the school. If you are not in the school yet, then that would be a great starting point as the school is designed to get golfers on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, structured, sequential platform. That is where you will find very detailed lessons and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish, along with diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet. Thank you again for your message - I am very glad to know that you pulled yourself off the ledge! 😎 Now, let's get you on the fast track towards the level of consistently crispy, body-friendly ball striking bliss that will truly maximize your enjoyment of this greatest of games! Tom
Thanks a million for the detailed response. "Crispy" is a word I now use, and the "Don't play the solo from Freebird at the beginning" crack you made had me spitting out my morning coffee laughing. It was so perfect. 😂😂🎸 I've been a rock radio DJ in NYC for well over 34 years and counting so am well familiar with song. And don't get me started on the live version. 😎 Hope to chat in person someday!
I keep forgetting about the quiet hands. I was doing really well when I followed your instructions months ago, and then something in my swing changed that had me hitting the ball everywhere but down the middle of the fairway. I was using my shoulders and everything like you said. I finally figured it out. I was using my shoulders, but I was rotating my hands during the backswing. I am back on track now...Thank you , Tom.
Fantastic, Ronnie - excellent job figuring that out!! I’m very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you. Tom is so right about quiet hands. Even Ben Hogan wrote a whole chapter about how the hands can get you in trouble. The pincher fingers can dominate your swing. Like Tom says where the face of the club points is where the ball goes. What controls the club face ? ( The hands) if you want to play good golf listen to Tom. Keep up the great work. From a 70s shooter that has tons of fun because of Tom saguto. Ps join his school you wont regret it.
I sincerely appreciate your validating remarks, Richard, and I'm most grateful for your kind words and testimonial regarding the online school!! I've watched a lot of Saguto videos. This one has helped me more than the others. Great lesson, so simple. I try to think about shoulders and forget I have hands. It has really made a difference. Thanks so much.
I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you to such an extent, Stephanie, and yes - that is a great way to think about it! 👍👍 Ideally we should simply "allow" the hand/wrist/arm actions to happen without forcing anything. If we have a secure grip, pre-establish the connections properly in the setup, and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct positions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper arm, wrist, and hand action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power. And while I certainly have other videos that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Thanks for your message and keep up the fantastic work!! Tom
I have been watching these videos for a while and Tom has kindly responded to my questions and observations. I have taken his nuggets to the range and my swing is becoming covered in breadcrumbs, not quite crispy yet. I have seen a difference. Tonight I will be joining Saguto Golf School. I will let you know how it goes.
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Andrew, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you. Now, let's fire up the deep fryer - aka the online school - and get things nice and golden crispy!! 🔥🔥 Thanks for your message and support, keep up the great work, and I look forward to your progress updates as you work through the school's sequential learning platform!! Tom
Joining the school was the best money I ever spent on golf. Everytime Something gets out of whack I go back and re-watch whatever it is i’m struggling with and get dialed back in. The simple repeatable swing concept was what my game was always missing to be consistent.
So simple and such gold!! Best instructor ever! I wish I would have seen you years ago! You've already helped me so much. My handsy fat, thin, pushy, and hooky hits are few and far between. Still not there yet but you've given me hope. Thank you!
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Ron, and I'm very glad to learn of your improvement!! This powerful, low-maintenance, body-friendly swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of body-friendly crispy ball striking up to and including at the game's most elite levels. Thanks so much for your support in sharing your success with it and keep up the great work!! 💪💪 Tom
Love your vids, I've been a stack and tilt guy for years. I have one swing thought , pull the club back with my right lat muscle (I'm right handed) it brings it inside and connects it to my body and naturally bends my left knee while dropping the left shoulder under my chin. From there it's all legs, bend the right knee and straighten the right you fall into the ball like skipping a stone for that crispy contact!
Awesome lesson Tom! I love that you also mentioned quiet hands / flat wrists at the top of the backswing. This is where I usually go wrong with the hands, and when I keep them quiet the swing is so much better!
Great stuff, and funny too (as usual!). I always looks at Steve Stricker's swing - no hands, no flipping or fiddling about. And how consistent he's been, says it all.
I appreciate that, Dan, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and "lesson and a show" teaching style are resonating with you and providing clarity and simplicity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction! Yes - Stricker's motion epitomizes simplicity and offers further proof that we can indeed build a powerful, body-friendly, repeatable, low-maintenance motion rather than twist, morph, torque, contrive, and otherwise mess with the principles of physics and geometry in an effort to better suit some ill-conceived whims. Ok, I took this to the range yesterday and YES !!! it works. The only time it didn't was when I got tired of hitting crispy shots and got a little sloppy...age will do that (73). Had a fun time using my shoulders and flushing the ball. I even had a couple of people sitting behind me watching. Need a little more practice turning and keeping my left shoulder under my chin but Tom is correct you will flush the ball fairly straight in no time.

Great video! My instructor/pro got this to click with me a few years ago when he said "right shoulder push/pull". (I'm a lefty). Push club back and pull it forward using my lead shoulder. It kept my hands inactive as I tended to hook. Keep the great content coming.

Love your content Tom... I've used Nick Prices dead hands...there's hardly any hinging...works like magic...go down in loft... Can't wait to try your method on this...Best from NZ...
I appreciate that, Mike, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content for this fantastic swing system and my teaching style are resonating with you!! Now, here's the thing. Hinging is absolutely happening in the swing, but it's not a consciously manufactured action. You see, if we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. Great stuff as always. haven't gotten through every one of your videos but was wondering if you have done, or could do a session on unfavorable lies; below/above your feet, downhill/uphill lies etc.?

I almost contradicted your tutorial for a moment. In my mind i was thinking "NAH"!, this has got to be wrong. But then I thought better of it and went in the garden with some air balls to try this out. "Oh my word", some of the smoothest, easy swings I have ever produced. Centre of the face and dead straight, time after time, after time. More brilliance Mr S and from all of us; thank you for the down the line views on this one. Please can we have more from this view.

Your videos helped me a lot to simplify my golf swing and get much more fun on the course. Thanks. 🙂🙂I have a question : many golfers are delofting the club to generate more distance. You never talked about that. Why ? Regards from France
I sincerely appreciate your kind words regarding my instruction content, Didier, and I am very glad to learn of your improvement and increased enjoyment!! We should not have to actively try to deloft the club. Instead, if we execute the swing properly as I teach it, we will have forward shaft lean and achieve the appropriate degree of delofting at impact without having to manufacture it. I definitely agree 100% on your advice about the "no hand" swing mate.. I tried it at the range and i am really surprised at the great result i got.. I felt like my swing becomes natural and my entire body can work as a unit with the club and hitting em ball much more consistently.. Back then i was thinking too much about the "hand controls the clubface" stuff and i didn't realized that i was manipulating my hands way to much just trying to get the clubface to square at impact.. Instead of getting good hit at the ball i ended up with lots of problem because when i subconsciously manipulating my hands, my body react too much trying to correct my swing path and straining my body especially my wrist.. The "no hand" swing makes it much more simple and also makes perfect sense like you said so thanks a lot mate.. Another great lesson i learned from you again and keep up the good work mate 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
OUTSTANDING!! 💪💪 I'm very glad to know that this "hands-free" lesson resonated with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play. I feel like I'm being taught by Rick Gassco. You keep it simple, light, and fun. I have been struggling with my irons since I started golfing again 5 months ago. My pleasure, Ramon - I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yes - this also applies to the driver and woods. In fact, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ruclips.net/video/o0xscMyN3v8/видео.html Here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” where you can learn some aspects of the system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ This will provide a nice foundational understanding of the swing keys that will ultimately get you mashing the ball through your entire bag. Thanks for another. Great video, Tom! I’ve got to give you credit. I was at the little executive course near my house yesterday hitting off an elevated tea and I thought about what you said about keeping the form and keeping the arms straight through the swing and wouldn’t you know, I put two 6 iron shots right onto the green about a foot away from each other! Thanks for everything you do for all of us folks trying to figure this out! 😢
That's awesome, Matt!! But sorry - I cannot take credit. As I regularly tell folks, I can provide the road map but then it’s up to each golfer to take the wheel and drive to their final destination: The Land of Crispy KFC Ball Striking Bliss. That’s what it means to embrace the process - navigating around the bumps, detours, and roadblocks, interpreting the directions in a way that resonates well with your individual uniqueness, backtracking when necessary, ingraining your personalized “feels” to produce a consistent, repeatable motion and a powerful, predictable ball flight, and ultimately garnering much body-friendly enjoyment of this great game for years to come! Thanks for sharing and keep up the fantastic work!! 💪💪 Tom
Great! I'm glad this video helped you to figure out the culprit! It may take some time to break that old habit, but ideally we should simply "allow" the hand/wrist/arm actions to happen without forcing anything. In other words, if we have a secure grip, pre-establish the connections properly in the setup, and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct positions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper arm, wrist, and hand action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. We are minimizing variables and building a ball striking machine, and the golfer will find that as trust builds in the shoulders will rotate freely and the "machine" will then be optimized. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power. The free mini course that I referenced in my other reply to you in a different thread is an excellent starting point to help you with this. Tom
Sounds so simple, then I go to the range and not as easy😢. I still watch, because I love your videos. I'm new to the game, it'll come together eventually
Golf is indeed a very difficult sport. But if we can simplify the swing so as not to rely on timing and/or exceptional hand-eye coordination - and we can - then we will be able to achieve consistently great results without having to continuously work so hard. So we put in the time and effort on the front end to build the swing, and then we can enjoy low maintenance, powerful, predictable, body-friendly ball striking bliss for the rest of our lives! By the way, I see that you are a new member of my YT channel's Crispier Than KFC Club. That's great, and I hope you find the exclusive content - both new and archived - to be extremely helpful in your mission! In the event that you would really like to get on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, sequential platform, please consider my online school as an alternative. The school is where you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish, along with diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. *_And through the school you would still have access to the KFC Club channel member videos, so if you were to enroll there would be no need to maintain both memberships._* Thousands of men and women from across the globe - spanning all age ranges and experience/talent levels - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Tom, just tried this on the living room carpet. Looks like a winner. Can’t wait to try this move on the links. Question: does this also work for the driver?
Yikes! I hope you didn't take any carpet divots!.....😆 Awesome - I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you, and I hope it performs well when you put it into practice! Yes - this also applies to the driver. I saw your lesson about reverse engineering which I start by being over the ball and immediately move the shaft to parallel (cocked the wrists) before I start the backswing. Then I rotated my torso/shoulders up-down, then up and then I hit the ball. It is weird but I have been hitting them krispy more often than not. Weird but effective. I couldn’t get the krispy (ball compression) feeling as often before, doing a normal swing, but the reverse engineer (cock the wrists early) is helping. This is my quiet hands version, letting my shoulders do the work but starting out cocking the wrists first. Less swing thoughts. Maybe the up and down “rehearse the swing then hit” is helping/training my body/spine to stay in position?
That is a drill that I have used in my instruction, and yes - it absolutely helps for ingraining the correct motion/positions and building in crispy contact. Ultimately, I'd like to see you to get to the point where you are not actively manufacturing the wrist hinge and are instead just allowing the shoulders to drive the swing from start to finish, but for now it seems as though things are progressing in the right direction so keep on doing what you are doing! 💪💪 Tom PS: By the way, since my channel's content is connecting well with you, I am confident that you will also benefit from my FREE mini course - “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”.: go.saguto.golf. Hey Tom, my problem is keeping the hands quiet on the downswing. Especially on the course. What is the best drill or feel to eliminate this? I am a member of the school if you want to direct me there. Thanks
It's so important to suppress the "hit" instinct that activates the hands at the top. There are two things at play here: 1) Discovering and dialing in our ideal swing tempo, and 2) Feeling that transition - or the change in direction - so we don't rush our downswing from the top and thereby lose our sequencing (a very common affliction within the amateur golfing realm). Our perfect tempo/rhythm - which is unique to each of us individually - thereby enables us to gather and unload the various components in proper order for seemingly effortless, powerful ball striking bliss. Now, once we have that tempo worked out at the range the real challenge begins as it is definitely not easy to transpose that perfect practice rhythm to the pressures of play, and then all the more difficult to sustain it over the course of an entire round. This takes time and much self awareness to sense when we are getting "quick" out there and rein it back in. One trick in this regard is to find a favorite song with a matching rhythm that you can internalize and call upon each time you address the ball. Beyond that, since this issues teeters on the line between swing mechanics and brain mechanics, an excellent book that may help you with this is "Fearless Golf: Conquering the Mental Game" by Dr. Gio Valiante. Another book that I like is "Play Your Best Golf Now" by Lynn Marriott & Pia Nilsson. I hope that helps! (And feel free to post your questions in the members' community!) Tom
Another great video Tom! Absolutely loved the add-in golfer slicing his driver. I wonder if he retrieved all the stuff he threw or if the ground crew placed them in the lost and found...
LOL! Thanks Don - I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you, and I hope it performs well when you put it into practice! As for that guy, I have no idea what became of him or his trail of debris.....😆 Tom
I really don't get to play enough on a regular basis to bother with maintaining a handicap, plus it wouldn't do me much good as a pro since I'm not eligible for any amateur tournaments at my club. I did get out the other day and was +3 with a rusty short game lol. Here is a 9-Hole Course Vlog from a couple of years ago if interested: ruclips.net/video/YLVhf0VdWSw/видео.html

Thanks Tom. Working on switching hands of. But in the top of your back swin club is nearly horizontal and there is a an angle with arms. Maybe it's lose wrists, but are your hands really off and how about lag.
Hi Pieter, Do the wrists hinge? Absolutely! Do we create lag? Of course we do! But here is the thing: If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. I'm glad you enjoyed it, Chris! Actually, the lead arm - as the radius of our swing circle - should retain the straightness that it had at address without forcing it or creating tension. The key here is get to - but not go beyond - your body's natural stopping point in the backswing where the tilting, turning, and extending motions are complete, the lead arm has crossed the chest 45 degrees, and the wrists are properly set. This is the point where if we were to try to go any further any or all of the following will occur: 1) the lead arm will bend and/or lift 2) the wrists will break down 3) the lead knee will kick inward towards the trail side 4) the lead shoulder will level out and lose its orientation towards the ball 5) weight will shift into the trail side and bring the low point back with it, resulting in inconsistent contact and unpredictable ball flight. 6) you'll "chicken wing" and/or flip through impact 7) pain, discomfort, and/or possible injury We don't need to try to get to "parallel" with this swing, and fighting your body in an attempt to do so will result in some combination of the above issues. If you execute the setup and swing properly you will have created width and plenty of distance for that club to travel by taking it in deep, and that will enable you to harness the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". While there are certainly other videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Thanks, Tom

It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power. With regard to this erroneous notion that we need to affect some type of active hand-rolling “release", given the inability of most folks to spend sufficient time at the range to lock in the required exactness of such an action this misguided thought has led countless golfers astray. It's not something that even the vast majority of pros are trying to consciously manufacture during the split second that the clubhead is traveling a distance of approximately 6' from parallel to parallel at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The forearms will naturally "trade places" from pre- to post-impact, but this should not be construed as a contrived move (although many a casual observer has gone down that rabbit hole). There really ought not be any active manipulation of the hands through the zone and attempts to precisely time any such rolling or flipping - which does nothing for swing speed - have relegated many an amateur to the vast abyss of inconsistency and frustration. As for watching different videos from different sources, please be careful in navigating the muddied, overly-complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. That is not a dig against any other teachers out there. It's simply best to commit to a system - whether it be this body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance method or another - put your blinders on, and stick to it. What is the first move in the down swing looks like you use your left arm to start the down swing or is it left shoulder down please let me know is it like the square to square method
Hi Richard, I teach the Stack and Tilt swing system. With regard to how to initiate the downswing, this is a loaded question because it is so dependent on individual tendencies that I cannot give a generalized answer. If I tell you that it's a lateral hip slide but your downswing already naturally has sufficient forward force, then you'll hit pushes and/or hooks all day long, and if I tell you to rotate your hips but you are already naturally applying enough outward force, then your destination is pull/slice city. I could also say the shoulders, or dropping the hands, or getting the lead arm off the chest, or rolling your trail foot targetward, or increasing pressure into the lead leg, etc. Whew! You get what I'm saying, right?.... I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and results. This is why I routinely recommend the online school - saguto.golf - to anyone who truly wishes to experience the joys of consistent, powerful, body-friendly ball striking bliss. The sequential lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Does the “no hands” also refer to the wrists? Do the wrists “stay quite” also or do you recommend wrist hinge in the backswing and unhinge at some point in the downswing?
We simply "allow" the wrist hinge to happen without forcing anything, Trey. If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. Hi Augie, There are various causes of toe hits, with the most common being related to setup (for example, the arms are not hanging down naturally and are in fact slightly reaching away from the body at address) or a downswing path that is coming from the outside and across the ball. Having said that, it's really not possible for me to diagnose the cause of your toe hits without actually seeing your swing. i played my first round in months this weekend. And although I had a 5 hole stretch that may have been the best of my life, i was still wildly inconsistent. I was having a problem figuring out where to stop my backswing. Not sure if there is a video covering that.
@band3513 - First of all, this was your first playing opportunity in months, so give yourself a little bit of a break with regard to your consistency during the round!! 😆 With regard to your inquiry, the key here is get to - but not go beyond - your body's natural stopping point in the backswing where the tilting, turning, and extending motions are complete, the lead arm has crossed the chest 45 degrees, and the wrists are properly set. @billyleach8833 - By "shaking" I assume you are referring to shanking. Your shanks can be the result of a variety of actions: 1) You may be too steep and thereby exposing the hosel to the ball; 2) Conversely, your path may be too in to out; 3) You may be rolling the face open during the backswing; 4) Your wrists may not be hinging properly (which is often the case when a golfer tries to manufacture or force the hinge rather than just allowing it to happen); 5) You are setting up with the ball positioned at the heel of the club; 6) You are losing your pre-established relationship with the ball (i.e.: a deficiency in the Tilt component); 7) More... What I'm getting at is that there are a number of potential causes, and without actually seeing your swing or chipping stroke it's impossible for me to identify the culprit behind those hosel rockets. FYI, there are entire sections of my online school dedicated to resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues. Have you looked into it? Tom, thanks for the videos. You break it down in very simple (and very comical) terms that basically simplifys the entire swing into a process where I just don't think about much at all. Yes indeed, Ron, and yet so many people are so quick to forget that! With regard to this grossly erroneous notion that we need to affect some type of active hand-rolling “release", given the inability of most folks to spend sufficient time at the range to lock in the required exactness of such an action this misguided thought has led countless golfers astray. Instead, if we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I appreciate your validating remarks! LOL!!! I'm glad to learn that you are enjoying my "lesson and a show" instruction style! Just know that despite the entertainment aspect, everything taught here from a golf swing perspective is consistent with a system rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. So have a chuckle or two, and then get to work! 😎
Tom i would love for u to do a video or talk about golf swings with different body types. Most golf videos feature pros built like you. Im 5 10” and have a muscular upper body. I cant get my hands low like you and its hard to swing from the inside as well. This usually leads to over drawing the club. Thanks man!
Hi Frank, This body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance swing system is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and as such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. The best part about taking your hands out of the swing is instantly knowing when you've NOT done this correctly and you can literally feel the "flippy" hands thing. It's so much more controllable to not have any [more] hands in the swing than are necessary. That whole timing thing is out the window and you can focus on getting the club to the ball with the shoulders/body, as intended.
Yes! Active hands are the #1 swing-wrecking variable in the motion. Tame them and you are on the way to consistently crispy ball striking bliss! Thanks for your message and validating remarks! Tom
I've been watching your RUclips videos for a while now. I'm an 18 handicap, always scoring close to ha Dicaprio either way. One day, last week, it just clicked. 80 off the stick with 2 double bogeys and 2 lipped out birdie putts.

I’m going to be a test case Tom. I have picked up your videos after being away from golf for 20 years. I never had instruction back then. No handicap either. I signed up with USGA GHIN and plan on starting back up correctly watching you and putting your swing into practice. My first round this year was a 115 on 2/24/24. I wasn’t able to enter the score since WA season starts 3/1. I feel I can improve on that and plan to give you updates. Thanks again!
That's awesome, Mark! I love test cases because so many of them started where you are presently at, enrolled in my online, and are now enjoying golf in the 80's and 70's!! 💪💪 That being the case, if you'd *_really_* like to get on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, sequential platform, please consider my online school. I was away from the game for 15 years and thought I could pick up where I left off boy was I wrong I had to start from scratch. In less than a year I am striking the ball way better than ever before. I had a couple lessons but mostly self-taught. Forget how you use to hit the ball and start from scratch build a swing with all the videos around it's really helpful to learn compared to the past

the “No Hands” swing ☝🏻 I love it. Going to try it tomorrow ⛳️🏌️♂️ So, the only change at impact is … leading with your lead shoulder? (rotate?) Do you ever get tired of hitting it STRAIGHT? 😂 More good stuff (as always) 👊🏻

Ideally we should simply "allow" the wrist/arm actions to happen without forcing anything. If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct positions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. Just watched another vid about why it's important to use the hands in the golf swing for the release and how using big muscles is a fallacy. Lots of sound reasons, just like this clip has. Personally, I've no idea any more....
I certainly get what you are saying. I have tried several channel’s approaches. I have had the most consistency with this approach. I also had a great instructor in the 90s, who has since moved on, so I can’t go back to him. I can’t remember exactly his approach, but Tom’s method seems to be bringing back those old thoughts and is close to my first instructors approach.
The old way is to turn the hands through the swing and it makes you very reliant on timing but what Pat is saying here is kinda similar to Harmons approach which was to keep the club face square to your target as long as possible through the entire swing.
For me as bodybuilder turned golfer (just about a year ago), what’s made the biggest difference on my game is in fact taking the biggest muscles out of the equation and focusing on good hand / wrist release. Has worked wonders for me so far
How do you generate speed if you're only using your shoulders/hips alone? I don't see where the whip comes from. I've tried this and I simply can't get good clubhead speed with just the shoulders.
@@ToffepeerTH Hmm. I'll try that. But how do you get that acceleration without pulling on the shaft with the hands? Do the arms and hands just become passive in the swing?
Besides the shoulders, much of the speed comes from the hip rotation, but especially from the folding of the trail arm. Release the trail arm just before impact to get the "whip"

@@SagutoGolf oh wow! Thanks for the detailed response, Tom! I'm going to try this and your course out. Been struggling with inconsistent hits for the longest time!
What crazy is like you, and hitting several balls I've learned this over time.. I've never had formal lessons. When I swing this way. I strike the ball best. I generate power with my turn and body.
That's the way I like it, Zachary! The key for me after "no hands" is "swing the shoulders". This was really working for me until I decided to add "a little more" and then the hands start in again. I'm also struggling to take a divot and am thinning the important short approaches.
That "little more" ought not come from the hands as you now know! This is good. No hand cock? How about lag? My buddy chastised me the other day because I did not open the club by the time it was halfway back and told me I should twist the club to square it on the way down!. I have kept a flat wrist but with wrist cock. I like your advise because it simplified the swing!
I wish your buddy luck with trying to coordinate those actions precisely each and every swing, Gary. Do the wrists hinge? Absolutely! Do we create lag? You betcha! you are right and very funny lol NO... When i had my shoulder replaced last year i was out golfing a couple of weeks after. because i could only bring my club back just so far I only used my body and kept my elbows tucked in I couldnt even lift my elbow anyway.. However With that short compact shoulder swing my ball went father than ever because i was hitting more squarely. but now that Im healed my first tendency is to want to use my hands go back to a long swing and i mess up so I am now going to say NO to my hands and go back to my post operation swing when i was a better golfer lol thx mate
LOL! Say YES to the NO, Alex!!! 😎 I'm glad to know that this lesson clicked with you. The key in this regard is to get to - but not go beyond - our body's natural stopping point in the backswing where the tilting, turning, and extending motions are complete, the lead arm has crossed the chest 45 degrees, and the wrists are properly set. 6) you'll "chicken wing" and/or flip through impact 7) pain, discomfort, and/or possible injury We don't need to force ourselves to get to "parallel" with this swing, and fighting our body in an attempt to do so will result in some combination of the above issues. If we execute this swing properly we will have created width and plenty of distance for that club to travel by taking it in deep, and that enables us to then harness the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". Have fun out there bringing back that post-op swing! Removing is simplifying. Removing the hands removes the need to time the release thus will make you more consistent. I’ve seen pro golfers practice by taping their hands and blocking their wrists.
Exactly! This is about eliminating those swing wrecking variables and simply "allowing" the swing to happen. In other words, in other words, if we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. Thanks for your message! Tom
I learned all my proper golf Tom.Played 164 rounds last year anf only 30 rounds were inn the 80s,the rest in the 70s and no gimme putts. Mostly shot 76 to 78. The best tip was elbows together and left arm straight simple !!
That is *OUTSTANDING,* Nancy!! 💪💪 I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play! Thanks so much for your support in sharing your success and keep up the fantastic work!! Tom
LOL! I'm glad to know that this video helped you get back on track!! By the way, with regard to watching different videos from different sources, please be careful in navigating the muddied, overly-complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. That is not a dig against any other teachers out there. It's simply best to commit to a system - whether it be this body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance method or another - put your blinders on, and stick to it. Hi Michele, If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power. I wouldn't be so concerned about distance at this very early juncture. Typically, once this swing is running properly and can be committed to "muscle memory" golfers experience significant increases in length. You have only just given this a try today and have already seen an improvement in shot shape while likely building your new "feels" and thinking mechanical thoughts. When you develop sufficient confidence in the motion that you are comfortable with it, you'll be able to just trust it and let it fly. While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option for you would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom
It is most assuredly tucking when it needs to be, Sean. It is certainly acceptable to have a few inches of space between the trail elbow and the torso at the top, just like I have in my swing. The key is that the arm has not lost its "tucked" orientation and the elbow is definitely not flying away, meaning that it is in perfect position to reconnect in the downswing. "Gluing" it in there is a "feel" that is necessary for most amateurs to achieve this desired action. In more general terms, I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. As such, it is important to understand that the lessons on this channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my RUclips content. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of the school, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Almost all good golfers setup with some cup in the lead wrist, and almost all of them go thru impact with shaft lean and a flat lead wrist. How do you get to that impact position without moving your wrists - shoulders only?
Lag is certainly the reason for this when the lead wrist is moderately cupped at address (i.e.: a more neutral grip such as the one I have). The "stronger" the grip, the more the cupped condition of the wrist. And the more cupped it is, the more necessary it is to make compensatory moves to square the face while also having a solid impact condition. For example, have a look at this video and analysis of Zach Johnson, one of the "strongest" grippers out there: ruclips.net/video/Soba0sGGML8/видео.htmlsi=WRy_3Ah3VICd0KN_ Tom
Glad you enjoyed it! It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ruclips.net/video/o0xscMyN3v8/видео.html. Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content. Here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” where you can learn some aspects of the system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ This will provide a nice foundational understanding of the swing keys that will ultimately get you mashing the ball through your entire bag. Thanks, Tom Saguto, PGA
I'm glad to know that my content is resonating with you, Steve! With regard to ball position, we first need to be aware that camera angles can greatly skew the viewer's perspective. That aside, while this system affords you some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape.
Handfree police 😂😂😂
I've been a rock radio DJ in NYC for well over 34 years and counting so am well familiar with song. And don't get me started on the live version. 😎
Hope to chat in person someday!

Ideally we should simply "allow" the hand/wrist/arm actions to happen without forcing anything.

Joining the school was the best money I ever spent on golf. Everytime Something gets out of whack I go back and re-watch whatever it is i’m struggling with and get dialed back in. The simple repeatable swing concept was what my game was always missing to be consistent.
How are you liking the school
So simple and such gold!! Best instructor ever! I wish I would have seen you years ago! You've already helped me so much. My handsy fat, thin, pushy, and hooky hits are few and far between. Still not there yet but you've given me hope. Thank you!
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Ron, and I'm very glad to learn of your improvement!! This powerful, low-maintenance, body-friendly swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of body-friendly crispy ball striking up to and including at the game's most elite levels.

@@SagutoGolf My pleasure. I've told ALL my buddies.
Thanks - I'm glad you're enjoying my S&T content and I appreciate you sharing your swing feels!
Keep it crispy out there!! 💪💪
Tom
Awesome lesson Tom! I love that you also mentioned quiet hands / flat wrists at the top of the backswing. This is where I usually go wrong with the hands, and when I keep them quiet the swing is so much better!
Thanks Michel - I'm glad to know that this lesson resonated with you!
Keep it quiet, keep it crispy!!
Tom
Great example!

FANTASTIC!! 💪💪 I am very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing so quickly and to the envy of others.
Thanks so much for validating this with your improvement and keep up the great work!!

Great video!
My instructor/pro got this to click with me a few years ago when he said "right shoulder push/pull". (I'm a lefty). Push club back and pull it forward using my lead shoulder. It kept my hands inactive as I tended to hook.

Love your content Tom...

The power accumulators - including the proper arm, wrist, and hand action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. Hello sir, thanks for the great advice. But what do you mean exactly by quiet hands? Thanks a lot! - Enzo
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, Enzo!
Ideally we should simply "allow" the hand/wrist/arm actions to happen without forcing anything. We are minimizing variables and building a ball striking machine, and the golfer will find that as trust builds in the shoulders will rotate freely and the "machine" will then be optimized. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power.
And while I certainly have other videos that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

LOL! I'm glad to know that you overrode your initial doubt and gave it a try, Steve - well done!! 💪💪

And while there most certainly are videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

By the way, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? Very good video, thank you
Does it work with woods too?
My pleasure, Ramon - I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Yes - this also applies to the driver and woods. In fact, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. 😢

(And feel free to post your questions in the members' community!)

Tom what is your handicap? What do you shoot on a regular basis? 70's low 80's or better?
I really don't get to play enough on a regular basis to bother with maintaining a handicap, plus it wouldn't do me much good as a pro since I'm not eligible for any amateur tournaments at my club. I did get out the other day and was +3 with a rusty short game lol.

Thanks Tom. Working on switching hands of. But in the top of your back swin club is nearly horizontal and there is a an angle with arms. Maybe it's lose wrists, but are your hands really off and how about lag.
Hi Pieter,
Do the wrists hinge? Absolutely! Do we create lag? Of course we do! But here is the thing: If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. Hi Tom, hope all is well.
A little confused, please advise. If you have quiet hands, how does the wrist hinge occur?
Thanks
Mike
Hi Mike,
We simply "allow" the wrist hinge to happen without forcing anything. In other words, if we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. Tom
Thanks for the great video. Does the left arm remain straight as you get to the top of the swing, or is there a mild bend?
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Chris!
Actually, the lead arm - as the radius of our swing circle - should retain the straightness that it had at address without forcing it or creating tension. The key here is get to - but not go beyond - your body's natural stopping point in the backswing where the tilting, turning, and extending motions are complete, the lead arm has crossed the chest 45 degrees, and the wrists are properly set. This is the point where if we were to try to go any further any or all of the following will occur:
1) the lead arm will bend and/or lift
2) the wrists will break down
3) the lead knee will kick inward towards the trail side
4) the lead shoulder will level out and lose its orientation towards the ball
5) weight will shift into the trail side and bring the low point back with it, resulting in inconsistent contact and unpredictable ball flight.
6) you'll "chicken wing" and/or flip through impact
7) pain, discomfort, and/or possible injury
We don't need to try to get to "parallel" with this swing, and fighting your body in an attempt to do so will result in some combination of the above issues. If you execute the setup and swing properly you will have created width and plenty of distance for that club to travel by taking it in deep, and that will enable you to harness the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum".
While there are certainly other videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

And if the system I teach appeals to you or at the very least stokes your curiosity, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

Tom can you do a 9 hole walk thru video with you helping us through how you play the shots and what we should be mindful of.
Hi Vikram,
Here is a 9-Hole Course Vlog from a few years ago: ruclips.net/video/YLVhf0VdWSw/видео.html

Tom
What is the first move in the down swing looks like you use your left arm to start the down swing or is it left shoulder down please let me know is it like the square to square method
Hi Richard,
I teach the Stack and Tilt swing system.

Tom
The power accumulators - including the proper arm, wrist, and hand action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. Tom
Tom, what do you consider to be the main reason for toe strikes?
Hi Augie,
There are various causes of toe hits, with the most common being related to setup (for example, the arms are not hanging down naturally and are in fact slightly reaching away from the body at address) or a downswing path that is coming from the outside and across the ball. Having said that, it's really not possible for me to diagnose the cause of your toe hits without actually seeing your swing.
FYI, there are entire sections of my online school dedicated to diagnosing and resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues. Have you looked into it? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. i played my first round in months this weekend. And although I had a 5 hole stretch that may have been the best of my life, i was still wildly inconsistent. I was having a problem figuring out where to stop my backswing. Not sure if there is a video covering that.
Tom please help I keep shaking I can not stop way am I doing this I shaking when I chip
@band3513 - First of all, this was your first playing opportunity in months, so give yourself a little bit of a break with regard to your consistency during the round!! 😆
With regard to your inquiry, the key here is get to - but not go beyond - your body's natural stopping point in the backswing where the tilting, turning, and extending motions are complete, the lead arm has crossed the chest 45 degrees, and the wrists are properly set.
If you execute this swing properly you will have created width and plenty of distance for that club to travel by taking it in deep, and that will enable you to harness the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum".
While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option for you would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews
Let's build on that 5-hole stretch of wonderful playing and ride it into an entire season of *_your_* best golf!!!
Tom
That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. Reminds me of what Hogan said in his book, that the hands are just for the connection to the club, and that's it. Makes sense!
Yes indeed, Ron, and yet so many people are so quick to forget that!

This is great but what about wrist hinge? Are you hinging at all?
Ideally we should simply "allow" the wrist/arm actions to happen without forcing anything. If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct positions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot.

Tom what brings the club down to impact isn’t it the arms?

Just watched another vid about why it's important to use the hands in the golf swing for the release and how using big muscles is a fallacy. Lots of sound reasons, just like this clip has. Personally, I've no idea any more....
I certainly get what you are saying. I have tried several channel’s approaches. I have had the most consistency with this approach. I also had a great instructor in the 90s, who has since moved on, so I can’t go back to him. I can’t remember exactly his approach, but Tom’s method seems to be bringing back those old thoughts and is close to my first instructors approach.
Golf is hard.
So true. It’s so contradictory
I've tried this and I simply can't get good clubhead speed with just the shoulders.
try to slow down at the top for half a sec let the arms drop and then accelerate again. Also don't grip to hard.

I'm glad to know that this lesson clicked with you. The key in this regard is to get to - but not go beyond - our body's natural stopping point in the backswing where the tilting, turning, and extending motions are complete, the lead arm has crossed the chest 45 degrees, and the wrists are properly set.
We don't need to force ourselves to get to "parallel" with this swing, and fighting our body in an attempt to do so will result in some combination of the above issues. If we execute this swing properly we will have created width and plenty of distance for that club to travel by taking it in deep, and that enables us to then harness the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum".
Have fun out there bringing back that post-op swing!
Cheers,
Tom

@@SagutoGolf thx a bunch
Hi Michele,
If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot.
Tom
Me too
Other video you posted stated keep right elbow tucked. How come it looks like your not tucking it here?

Because the club is heavy and lags behind your wrists the you accelerate through
Lag is certainly the reason for this when the lead wrist is moderately cupped at address (i.e.: a more neutral grip such as the one I have). The "stronger" the grip, the more the cupped condition of the wrist. And the more cupped it is, the more necessary it is to make compensatory moves to square the face while also having a solid impact condition. For example, have a look at this video and analysis of Zach Johnson, one of the "strongest" grippers out there: ruclips.net/video/Soba0sGGML8/видео.htmlsi=WRy_3Ah3VICd0KN_
Tom
Nice! How bout the driver?
Glad you enjoyed it!
It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ruclips.net/video/o0xscMyN3v8/видео.html. Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content.

Love your stuff.
What about ball position?
