    Great instruction. This is one of my favorite videos. I used the technique against someone that I couldn't choke. It worked like a charm.

    I personally love this choke, albeit I've only preformed it successfully once in competition. Thanks for the pointers; I'm sure this'll help improve my game :)

    When my instructor went over this move he was saying use your index and middle fingers to grab the collar cause it's even easier to slide under and around the neck and I've used it rolling and I don't see any difference in the way he is doing it compared to just the 2 fingers

    @submissions101 can this be done without the gi?

  • @Einarr1989
    @Einarr1989 13 лет назад

    @Einarr1989 In my old school we practiced a GJJ self-defense syllabus as well as modern BJJ. We practiced in street clothes - an old t-shirt, a pair of jeans, soemtimes a jacket. It's actually easier to choke someone with a t-shirt than with the gi - you can basically bunch up any part of the t-shirt and choke someone with it, and most jackets or coats are perfectly capable of being in the same way as a gi without ripping.

    @OVERCAPITALIZE What's the Judo name to it?

    I've tested it out. it works even with t-shirts unless the material is very thin. and it definetely works with jackets. and if you collar choke someone with a zipper coat, it can puncture skin.

    also, you really wouldn't want to push the arm toward the opponent (3:13) because if they knew "hadaka Jime" that would be the perfect solution for that counter.

    @SKEEZIN08 I train both gi and nogi equally - if you don't train both then you're going to be deficient.

    @ShueFig Dude BJJ (usually with MMA gym) schools cost a lot. If you want a cheaper route, go to a Judo school.
