Mass Effect original trilogy theme: War
Mass Effect Andromeda theme: Exploration
I'll agree with that, the Mass Effect trilogy was very much "star wars" Andromada added a dash of star trek
@@briandavion Andromeda tried to put an entire episode of Star Trek into an entire 40+ hour game.
Andromeda is the best soundtrack of the series. John Paesano's masterpiece.
@@williamabraham2603 first Mass Effect wants to speak with you
@@danat4914 Indeed, Sam Hulick's masterpiece, ME1 was the reigning champion for a long time. But, John Paesano eeked out a close victory over ME1 with Andromeda.
“We were all expecting a golden world. Now there's just a long road ahead. But hold on to that dream. It might see us through.” - Ryder
I can already see myself in 2020 looking back at this song and remembering the feelings I'm feeling now!
mrArchduke oh man it's gonna be so nostalgic!
...
i'm so sorry.
FXMaster Me too.
Look back and cry bc the game sucked

Maybe for you, despite it flaws i really enjoyed the Game :)
I agree, Andromeda was different in some things - but it was still Mass Effect. And I enjoyed it.
Same. I loved it!
I enjoyed the game for the most part, but the final boss fight was a bit underwhelming. Which usually is a deal breaker for me. Thankfully the rest of the game makes up for it.
but that's what made this game fail it came out as part of mass effect universe . If this was a standalone title the game would feel much better.
@@sahanupendra Yeah, I think this is big roadblock for most people and why it was so poorly recieved. I had similiar feeling with Might and Magic X - while i loved 6-9, 10 was BIG no-no for me.
I considered it as small bonus in Andromeda´s case - like open world attempt of Mass Effect. As standalone game it would be surely recieved much warmer.
I clean my room to this.
Exploring the messy room. Finding things you thought that went missing. 😂
@@tristanbackup2536
Lmao 😂
My room cleans itself with this.
I clean my soul to this too
The scene when settling Eos with this playing as the colony ships drop from orbit was so well matched. Just a shame it wasn't longer considering the importance of the moment.
oh wow. listening to this (especially from 2:38) if i close my eyes i can totally see myself on a spaceship flying through the galaxy. love it
Attila Beregi I like that part too.
The 40 seconds or so after 2:38 might be the best music in all of Mass Effect, and that's saying something. It's too bad the game itself doesn't impress.
Rob Horgan Nah man this doesnt come close to the music in ME2. Suicide Mission is unbeatable, shit gave me chills.
The start of this song explores the hopelessness of mass effect 3 and the war with the reapers, the second half is when you arrive in a brand new galaxy completely free of danger or any burden
And then find your brand new galaxy of hope is full of spirelly death clouds, the planets are all buggered and there are a bunch of relgious zealot douchbags who assimilate you. Welcome to Andromeda, where shooting monsters in the face remains our best solution
weldonwin lmao!!🤣
The rest of the soundtrack was kind of unremarkable to me, nothing standing out as "I must listen to this over and over and over," but this piece... I can't get enough of it. I love the subtle piano-focused beginning for the feeling of being all alone, anticipatory, looking for something wonderful in the unknown; then the musical 'cast' grows and becomes more dynamic-- just like your crew (and the whole Initiative) comes together and becomes enlivened through the game, acquiring momentum and energy; then at the end it returns to something more intimate, but with all of that other stuff 'behind it,' still sort of present but the focus returns to where it began... I love it.
There are really (at least) two 'iterations' of hearing this: before playing the game it's sort of a naive, bombastic thrill-- it sounded cool and made me want to see what the adventure would be, okay-- but after I finished the game and listened to it again it took on a much more emotional character, reminding me of the feelings I had for the characters and their ties through the story, how my Ryder ultimately fought for his sister, and SAM, and everyone else. And the feeling of promise afterwards. Now it kinda' chokes me up every time.
Same feeling exactly for me us well.
Awesome commentary.
This music is very moving. They somehow managed to give hope and exploring space a physical sound and it's fantastic. At 2:40 when it picks up pitch, when they play it over the hopeful colonists arriving at Eos, and finally being awarded for having hope, and Sara/Scott Ryder succeeding as Pathfinder when not very many expected them to succeed, and your first working colony is born as Podromos ... I get a little choked up at that, and part of that feeling is the music.
I am pathfinder Ryder, and this is my favorite tune on the Nexus!
I loved Andromeda even with all the issues, i really enjoyed our new position, Ryder isnt Shepard and doesnt triying to be him, he ended in his position only by bad luck meanwhile everyone respects Shepard from the beginning in Andromeda everyone doubt of your decisions and capacities and make worthy each success you had like Ryder
Anyone else feel like they can do the impossible now? Find a way to travel to the stars, a faster plane, a way to travel to a different Galaxy. With this, it feels possible.

Such an incredible new direction with the soundtrack, really similar to our new, lighthearted and adventurous protagonist. Fell in love with andromeda, due in no small part to this soundtrack. Absolutely timeless.
Ben Jenkins I cant identify with the teenage lines and tone the protagonist has.
However, this specific song fits andromeda nicely.
@@cognitivescience9924 how old are u? Just curious
Martin Aslaksen 29, but in 2007 I was a teenager and I loved the original trilogy.
Bad writing transcends age groups the same way good writing does.
@@cognitivescience9924 I mean, the Ryder-Twins are supposed to be 22, compared to Shepard, who is 29 (I think), so they are much younger. Also they are not highly decorated soldiers on war-missions, but basically explorers, so I think the more laid back tone, which in my opinion was a great change of pace to the military tone of the trilogy, makes sense
I absolutely loved the game and grew fond of the characters. Just finished it after buying it for 9 bucks. Glitchy but still entertaining and fun.
This soundtrack is starting to affect me the same way Vigil's Theme affected me in ME 1. I actually miss Ryder and his crew. :/
Hope the next game is a sequel.. loved this game, the story, Characters and this beautiful music
This game deserves a proper sequel. I would love to explore more in the Andromeda Galaxy and find new civilizations like the Angara.
Same. I especially miss my Jaal.
@@estelasayeed5608or some reason, EA decided reception to Andromeda wasn't because of the bugs and glitches at launch, but the story, which is stupid, because in my opinion, Andromeda has the best story of the series. Promotional art, and the trailer, says the next game is a direct sequel to Mass Effect 3. Shepard's time ended with Mass Effect 3, just give us Mass Effect Andromeda 2 already.
@@BaxterAndLunala I agree, Shepard's story came to e great close and all the characters had their stories told well in the trilogy. While Andromeda had its problems, they should really focus on a sequel and make it just as Epic as the original trilogy...
It's been awhile since a game has made me feel the way Andromeda does. I recently got it and am playing it blind. I remember how the trilogy made me feel playing through it the first time, or any other amazing game does the first time through it. This feeling is how I measure a game, and Andromeda is a hell of a good one. Had it's issues but the updates have definitely helped.
"Welcome to Andromeda."
This track gives me goosebumps. And at the same time all I see is my Ryder being a snarky arse while doing bad ass things.
This has me totally ready for Andromeda. I fell in love with the original trilogy's music, and this has officially rekindled my love for M.E.
Will Connor The game is fucking amazing so far.
i assume you play it on early access...is it any good?
Linus Newman Amazing. Watching the tempest fly in for the first time gave me chills.
ME2 theme was the top notch, ME3 don't really have a theme actually.
Kyle Lucien haha what?? Me3 has the take earth back theme, and An End once and for all...they are pretty similar but still epic
There are video games with good music and then there's a controversial video game with an absolute monster of a soundtrack!
This is truly a Masterpiece!❤️

Perhaps we treated Andromeda too harshly
I only played the trial 10 hours, but i'm already absolutely in love with the OST. Totally a new fav for me. Thursday is so fucking far away damnit.
Yeah, I know right... I'm playing the trail right now (got 6 hours left) and I already can't wait till Thursday anymore
How did you guys find the presence of the soundtrack through the hours? Is it rarely present, mostly or always there? I heard a reviewer complaining that while the music is good, it doesn't appear that much throughout your journey.
Alex Lion its obviously quite different from the original trilogy in terms of presence because this game is much more open and the soundtrack reflects this as well.
You are not always fighting or on a mission, so the soundtack doesnt always pulsates on fullblast.
The old soundtracks rarely have any calm moments in them and are much more action oriented, this one however is more cinematic with lots of orchestral pieces and calm moments wich really suits the whole exploring vibe.
Personally i think that the ost is spot on.
And dont even get me started on the overall sound design.. the game sounds incredible!
Im playing on a Sony 5.1 home theatre and i constantly shit my pants over how beefy and exciting the game sounds. so lively!
That's cool! I have a 5.1 system myself and can't wait to experience it all!
Absolutely agree! I play it with a 7.1 headset (I know, not the same as a home cinema, but the sound quality is awesome) and this game just sounds so good... And like you said, ost is spot on.
My name is Commander Shepherd and this is my favorite soundtrack on The Citadel.
Rob Blackwell now its "my name is pathfinder Ryder and this is my favorite soundtrack on the nexus"
Rob Blackwell After all these years, people still can't spell Shepard's name properly.
Vortex...TUNZ TUNZ TUNZ!
Rob Blackwell this is Ryder, and this is my favorite track on the Nexus
This. This song IS Mass Effect. While Andromeda isn´t bad game.. It is a shame it was not a Mass Effect. But this song is and I absolutely appreciate that.
Happy N7 folks!
A very good score sounds exactly like music from previous games. Since everyone is saying it reminds them of something completely different, this reminds of the suicide mission theme from Mass Effect 2, a little anyway.
I see it like this: The original Mass Effect Trilogy is a three-part, sci-fi space opera. Mass Effect Andromeda is a colourful, sci-fi fantasy TV series spin-off...which, I might add, needs another season! Get to it Bioware.
No
Go back to shepard era
@@yougotrice9655 I can't imagine more to add to Shepard's story but a prequel would definitely be nice; one where you play their chosen background. I got some other ideas though: 1. You play as a human soldier during the first encounter with the Turians. 2. An alien captain during the Rachni Wars, game style would be like more of Star Wars: Republic Commando than Gears of War. 3. An investigative, Telltale-style C-Sec story involving Cerberus and other conspiracies.
@@blurberrycreative1996 leviathan are still a problem even after the reapers, they are control hungry, they could start there.

God dammit that build up is so good.
Happy N7 commanders and pathfinders! Bioware has shared a glimpse into the future of the franchise today!
There are games where i would put the last mission on hold simply because i dont want it to end...
Like playing with Ciri in the Snow before she goes off to Novigrad to become Empress
Good grief. I just bought a $6000 surround sound system and was loading all of my PS4 physical games onto my PS5 when this song came on the title screen. I had to hear the full thing with the crescendo, though. The floor is shaking. Fucking beautiful theme.
THE ONLY THING in Andromeda that was not upto mark was the character faces but it did not deserve the mass hate. Personally, it was super good and i will forever love the game as one of the best installments in the series. Keep it up Mass effect team!!
Mass effect andromeda set up a wonderful formula. The mini side missions on each of the planets were a joy to discover ( like the cannibals on kadara ). The romance was sizzzzzling hot ( looking at Cora Harper ), the casual tasks to be completed in the nexus resonated with previous entries and even the pioneering theme of new exploration was deeply engaging. The combat system even was vastly improved by the jump jets. Scanning objects and listening to Sam dish out pieces of lore was satisfying. Finding the memory fragments and unlocking more of Alec’s perspective for viewing was very interesting. I mean really, what did this game miss? Something, not sure what it was, but what I do know is that it had so much more than enough for a sequel.
My sub box just died a little
ikr :)
BurmaBerm My phone just exploded. I'm ok though, just not so white anymore. :))
My recommended algorithm got overwhelmed: "Yo daw, I see you like mass effect. Here's all the soundtracks."
The themes of these games make me want to be in the intergalactic age so badly.
A. Dragon we are already there😉
I honestly don't understand how Mass Effect Andromeda got any bad reviews, this game is freaking amazing! I honestly love the story line!😍 I think when it's possible, before I die, I'm going to attempt to get cryogenically frozen to see if one day we could go to the Andromeda galaxy and beyond!!
Maybe one day my friend.. can't wait for the next game
No it sucked and I'm as objective as it gets.
The only saving grace was this single piece of music from the soundtrack and maybe the environmental graphics.
Damn.... this is beautiful.
One of the best themes in gaming. It slowly builds into an epic masterpiece. It really gives that new home, and one large adventure feel. The best themes make you feel something, and this one does it perfectly.
That faint whistle kind of tune you can hear gave me the chills in game when they walk into the Remnant construct...
i love the epic buildup. I was worried that the music would fall short of me3
yep... playing through the game and the only great pieces are this (A better beginning) and the new galaxy map theme
+Volo I kinda wish they kept the original galaxy map theme, would've given the game that little extra
Such an incredibly underrated game. Sure the story might not be as epic as the original, but the atmosphere is definitely there and never have I enjoyed the combat system in a shooter this much.
Really?!? THIS was the best shooter you ever played?
@@selohcin because it's the better shooter doesn't mean it's the better game
Story
Character
Choices
Enemy motivation, threat none existent in this game
The good thing in andromeda is the combat and this track... Nothing else
I'm dying a little inside! Can't wait to put this up so I can listen to it to go to sleep at night!!!
Most underrated game of all time.
"Of all time"? 😅
This sounds like the love child of Mass Effect and Dragon Age. PLEASE BE GOOD. PLEASE.
Replaying this give years later, and I have to say I like Andromeda more than the original trilogy and won't apologize for it.
Subjectively you go bro. Enjoy it!
Objectively you are wrong. The trilogy is a madterpiece in storytelling but screw it - you enjoy your experience and have fun while at it. More power to you.
A kick ass theme. 😃
I absolutely LOVE this one!
One year later and this REALLY GREW IN ME despite disliking the theme at first. GOD DAMN IT!
Same, it's starting to affect me the same way Vigil's theme did. I'm missing Ryder and his crew. :')
Huge M.E. fan, this soundtrack sounds a lot like the Oblivion movie OST. Love it! Can't wait for this game.
Mario Nardoni i love the song "undimmed by time, unbound by death" off the oblivion soundtrack. great movie.
Mass Effect: Voyager. Seriously the feelings this musical masterpiece evokes are so similar to the ones I have whenever I listen to Star Trek Voyager's title theme. The longer the years, the more tears they generate.
3:01 That motiff that sounds through out the game always gives me chills
I might have disliked playing Andromeda for various aspects I found it to be lacking in but this piece keeps bringing me back.
I agreed the game was a mess but there was no faulting the soundtrack. Its a shame that I won't ever touch the game again unlike the previous games
I love mass effect trilogy lead music...... but, this begining song was breath taking from first time I heard it when I launched a game... I never started a game and waiting for the end of the song in the main menu :-D
this kept reminded me of prometheus for some reason
Despite the hate, loving the soundtrack in ME:A. To me its subtle and energetic when needed, just what the doctor ordered. Now if I can figure out how to export the ost from a ps4 digital copy ikl be happy
As a Star Wars fan (OG trilogy), I've always been a fan of big epic orchestral soundtracks. We're talking Gladiator, Aliens, Armageddon, 6th Day, etc. This is how I would imagine a sci-fi epic with a bit of futuristic instruments. It's simply an amazing theme, for an amazing game. Yeah, the game did get some bad publicity due to bugs, and fans thinking Shepard would somehow return. Culminating in not getting what they wanted. Kind of like the Star Wars prequels (and I'm not gonna mention the horrendous Disney Skywalker Saga). Andromeda is, and will always be a great game, and I encourage every sci-fi buff to play it.
Just amazing! Wow! With good headphones this Is a stunning piece :-)👍
Last year I discovered the Mass Effect trilogy and these games became my favourite video games ever. Today I'm getting into this game, which has been called a piece of shit at least a million times since its release.
And I'm glad I can make my own opinion, because they are wrong.
No, Mass Effect Andromeda wasn't needed in the ME universe. Yes, it has not the best facial animations and character designs of 2017. Yes it is disappointing but only if you play it as a Mass Effect game from the trilogy.
But it is NOT part of the trilogy. It isn't a pure action sci-fi RPG, it is more based on exploration and discoveries. That's why it deserves far better than what it gets.
This theme is wonderful, makes me think about space exploration, and even if it isn't as epic as the trilogy's soundtrack, it is still epic in its own way. Makes us think about humanity and our dreams to explore and conquer the stars. Our history is about pioneers, explorers, adventurers, and space is the next stage of human discoveries and exploration. This theme is beautiful.
The theme is there, but buried under tons of boring side quests and weak characters.
I do agree that theres something great in Andromeda, but it is something that wasn't properly done
Some parts of the game were clearly rushed, the game itself seems to beg to be something more, almost like you can dig the story beneath tons of ice or sand in each planet you travel.
Andromeda does have this, it does have those vast places that are begging for an epic adventure that most of the time simply isn't there, and it is a shame...
Mass Effect 1 isn't much different from Andromeda, you know? In fact is very similar, but for each big planet theres a 10x more small planets with their own quests that made those small areas seem way more vast and alive.
You never knew what exactly you would find in ME1 side quests, sometimes was just some piece of lore in a prothean ruins, sometimes was an amazing quest about a comrade that you thought was long dead.
You don't have that in Andromeda, you always knew exactly what you would find, in some rare occasions were you do find something interesting is usually just some scraps.
@@efxnews4776 I do agree with that, the game was a mess. It had a good potential, but so many things in the characters and the side stories have been spoiled.... In fact, I said that it deserved better than what it gets because you can't just call it shit. To me, this game didn't have to exist, since it is said in the trilogy that less of 2% of the stars in the galaxy have been explored by anyone, they just had to make their universe richer by asking us to explore the rest of the galaxy, it's more interesting, it's a good goal, and it's not between the world we know and a completely new thing, like Andromeda, which felt like it was not Mass Effect sometimes, even if you see Turians, Krogans and Asaris everyday. That's the main reason I don't like the game much.
However, some things, like the gameplay, felt good (at least, adapted to an exploration game such as Andromeda).
Say what you want but this game is lit. Best game i've played since OW
F.u.c.k Allah agree with ur opinion... but uh, what does OW stand for?
Overwatch
Completely agree, didn't deserve the massive hate it got because behind the initial facial animations, the game is unreal

Been excited for these. Thank you! It should make my final week of waiting a little bit easier. ;)
I could listen to this until my ear drums explode
Mass Effect Andromeda was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed the game, this track was dope 👏👏👏
The piano notes kind of remind me of one of the songs from Inception.
I sense Hans Zimmer's vibe in Paesano's work, you're right !
Best Mass Effect OST since The Suicide Run OST from ME2
It may not be a good Mass Effect, but it’s still a good game. That’s how powerful ME’s story is. No matter how bad the engine, combat or whatsoever is, as long as it’s a story of MassEffect, I will give it the same love as any other series.
Not the best game but damn am I enjoying my time
Can we play this when humans puts their first steps in mars?
RIP Andromeda. You could've been such a great game.
It’s a shame that this didn’t get the attention it needed but between all the glitches and production issues, plus people fighting over the storyline I knew it wasn’t going to be received well by many. Shame because there was so much potential
John Paesano made OST for Maze Runner, of this is good as well !!!
Got the game on big steam sale. Tried it out. Not close to as good as the originals. Voice acting, "polish", characters - just doesn't grab my attention. But this song? Very strong argument it's one of the best out of all the games.
Nice, i Love this Soundtrack. I Heart this in my Rom with extremaly Bass and Loud. .. Nice Music !! Thank you

I believe ME4 and Andromeda will end up meeting each other, maybe we will be able to see Shep and Ryder team up together to fight a bigger issue in the galaxy.
Shepard and Ryder are separated by like 600 years' time lmao
@@Syntherios maybe a descendant of Shepard, dependent on your final love interest. So could be any race.

Excellent musical quality
Wonder why the initiative never studied the mass relays to connect the Andromeda Galaxy.
It's just waaaay to far away. Mass relays are only good for traveling around inside the milky way but not outside into deep space and all the way to another galaxy. That's why they had everyone asleep in cryo stasis
@@dogeofdojima3813 Not what I mean. I was thinking more about why didn't they study them BEFORE they left the Milkey Way so they could connect to other parts of Andromeda?
@@smanly3274 They did, the citadel races studied the relays for thousands of years but could never understand how they worked, hell the Protheans were the only ones who managed to build a working replica, once.
Say what you will about Andromeda (I enjoyed it...), but this track makes me tear up a bit. A song of loss, or of leaving behind, and all that comes with that, but the anticipation and excitement of the future and possibilities. As though I were to leave my family for a 600 yr sleep to journey to another galaxy and all the adventure that could entail. A "BETTER" Beginning... maybe leaving something painful (yet familiar ("...rather bear those ills we have than fly to others that we know not of...")) for something hopefully better.
For some reason, this soundtrack makes me feel nostalgic, and I haven’t even finished the game yet. I quite enjoy the game though. I bought the game for only 7 euros.
This soundtrack is really good... Like borderline goosebumps good.
Just started playing this game. I really enjoy it - it feels less like the dark, gripping, story of the trilogy and more of a Star Trek-like exploration theme. The music is the same way, more open and meditative.
Whoa.
Best one yet
Well, it is the 1st xD

For those who didnt know, John Paeso used this theme for the Maze runner: The death Cure soundtrack. it's in the track "The last City"
