Good luck with this, people often say the x type is just a Mondeo (not that is a bad thing) but they have their own character, I'd try cross checking with Ford part numbers though, the Xtype 2.2d and Mondeo ST Tdci were developed at the same time and the parts bin was used heavily!
I get good flow of fluid out of every bleeder with gravity so I don’t think any of them are collapsed. It’s simply the master cylinder not building and holding pressure
Hi. I like watching your videos. I do like the x type estate cars, had two a 2007 and a 2009, did not have any problems in the time i had both of of them. a good under valued car.
Hi mate just a heads up for you as you have got abs on that you may have to have a brake pressure bleeder to bleed the system as they have bleed the clutch the fluid may have got to low and caused air in the system...hope this helps...
I tried that also, both pressure bleeder and vacuum. The other shop tried for a few hours too. Must be the master. I just wanted to try once more before I order a new one
Was there no rebuildkit with seals available? Rest of your mastercilinder looked fine on video. Agree with the pressure bleed procedure. That is the safest way...
Seems to be no seals for this specific master. For the later one there are. However a friend has a parts car near by. Found out today so will go later this week to grab that master
Nice purchase. Since a new master cylinder is so expensive did you look for a seal kit for it? Since you are confident to take the master cylinder apart you might be able to fix it for less?
Amazing how relatively new car bodywork rusts so badly German cars seem to go on the wings.if I recall ford did own jaguar back in the early 2000s I think so in the UK fords rust badly if not maintained correctly.
Some cars will never bleed if air has got in to the abs unit. Then only way to try to bleed it is to manage atleast some brakes and try to brake so hard that abs goes on couple of times. Then bleed again from the all wheels via two person method pressing pedal and opening bleeding screws. I did not get from the video what was wrong with the master ? It was clean inside and seals were tight to install? Even with the nasty cola juice that came out of it, I don't think that master can break by just getting pipes off. Are you sure that there is no bleed function in a tester software when connected to abs ? Pressure bleeder fo the the reservoir is great tool to have. Even that can not bleed every brakes every time..
There is no bleed function in the ABS. I have bleed every line on the ABS manually also. If I open any bleeder fluid comes out right away. However the brake pedal goes straight to the floor the whole time. Must be an internal leak in the master cylinder. Will fit another one in a few days and see
I get fluid out at each caliper with vacuum however thing when you pump the pedal. Just goes to the floor. Must be the master cylinder. Seems like it has an internal leak. All the black sludge inside is probably from a failed o-ring
@@LivingWithAClassic sometimes the seals can flip when using a vacum bleeder.. Im in the UK ..I use a Gunsons Eazibleed..cheap and works well as it pushes the air/fluid. Saved me recently when I was bleediing the clutch on my car and one way valves etc wouldnt work
Hello Adam. I'll leave the expert comments to the experts . You didn't really do this on Christmas Day ! It would great if you can get angled sheet , l do , 1/2 " fold and then choose the width . ie 2". 3" etc. I don't have a folding machine so it saves a lot of hassle . Merry Chrismas to you and your family .
Don’t think it is since fluid pours of out of every bleeder if I leave them open. However the master doesn’t build any pressure. Pedal goes to the floor
@@LivingWithAClassic Ok I must have missed that part. I have had collapsed hoses in the past causing a no bleed no press build. Love the wagon hope the new master solves the issue. The rockers on my S type were pretty bad under the plastic covers. It was a winter beater but beautiful and reliable.
Nice Mondeo

Love the x-type estate. Really handsome car.
Thanks I really like it too! One of the better looking modern estate cars
I'm guessing bad flexible brake hoses could be a possibility. Also, I like the interior of the X-Type.

Did you try pressure bleeding with the engine running? Some models need the ABS in an activation state to bleed properly.
Was just about to add the same, find out what the correct procedure is, some need the service tool to make the pump push the air out.
I tried that too but no change. It also isn’t the procedure for this car. It is the master that’s bad
@@LivingWithAClassic Sometimes it just has to be replaced. :(
@@LivingWithAClassic that’s too bad. Hopefully you find a quality used one for a reasonable price.

Sill looks not too bad

I didn't wagons could come with a stick
Sometimes a brake line can collapse internally or get plugged up..ABS sytem..can it be operated via a code reader gizmo?..

I did! It was nice to get away from Christmas a bit and work on cars.
I’m going to see what I can get my hands on
Pressure bleed these cars,, its the way,,, Love to know how you got the sills off... that be cool vid :)
They simply just pull off, very simple. Undo the fastners on the bottom and them pull them straight out.
This is a bit different for you. Interesting.
Your flex hose in the back could be collapsed.

har du luftat abs enheten???
Ja det har jag med. Luftat varenda skarv i hela systemet
