Thanks, Steve. I have been watching your videos for a few months now. Last July (2017) I started taking lessons with a PGA Pro here in Southern California, Mike is a "Homer Kelley" Guy also. Working me away from a long Two Plane Swing that I have used for about 45 years, into a shorter, more compact One Plane Swing. This video was a "Eureka" for me because I was finding my pretty good short game suffering from the swing changes. Eliminating Power Accumlators vs. Trying to Moderate All. WOW!!! Thanks again, Paul.
Love the way you don't edit out mistakes and add a bit of humour, I am a resent convert love the way you teach. Think I will delete all the other RUclips golf pros. Thanks Steve.
I like the way you are thinking about this. If you were to take that funny looking ball gag you got there and start spinning it around you would use little pulses pulling in toward the center of the arc. That is the same kind of parametric acceleration. I totally agree that this could be the key behind an "effortless" but powerful swing.
Enjoyed the video .Looking forward to trying it out .Gotta admit I have never heard of parametric acceleration .But now im away to watch your other videos.😜🤔
Steve I think you should cover rotation with this force of hands moving up and club down. This is where most of us go wrong. If you combine the rotation of body/shoulder with the hand action, this is the key to good golf. If you simplify this for people we can all get better. This could be ‘the secret’ for us amateurs.
very great drill , y am using this drill with my driver ( y slice my driver) but the feeling is very strang and when it works its incredible. y have a question , is my left heel too start early ( y am a lefthand ) in a downswing the cause of my slice thanks steve
Really like this. When you watch close-ups of the Pros at impact - you always see this long low point. I have read that the advantage is that the ball stays on the clubface a bit longer. Wondering if the desired move is really a combination of Option #3 + Option#4 - Back and Up?
Steve, Love your take on golf and particularly the eureka moment and can se how this would tie in with it. I,m also a massive fan of Pete Cowan (pyramid of learning) just wondering what your thoughts are on his take on the roll of the right arm in the golf swing ie simply folding and unfolding and if I could link in with this vide and eureka. Cheers
Really enjoyed that. You seem pretty good at this teaching malarkey, have you ever considered going for a higher accreditation in your chosen field of expertise?
Hey Steve!! Can I ask you a question? Since I'm only 5'6" tall, and use standard size shaft; would I go more backwards with my shoulders than up? My stance is obviously more up and down, due to my lack of stature. What do you think? Great video. Irons seem to be ok, but driver is more of an issue.
Steve, Golf instruction can be confusing when it does not have to be. What you are describing here is very similar to other instruction that SOUNDS different, or is describing a different concept when in actual fact it isn't. I have heard / read other instructors talk about the club exiting left after impact when viewed down the line. If you think about it, raising the left shoulder and rotating the body so that the left shoulder moves away from the ball accomplishes the same body movement as ensuring the club exits left after impact. The one thing I would add that you have not mentioned which is important (in my opinion, but I am not an advanced anything ;-) so what do i know); is that in order for all of this to result in better ball striking the golfer must maintain their spine angle. Not maintaining the spine angle will result in many thin shots with these swing thoughts. My point is not to disagree with you (I do agree with you), but rather to point out that instructors may be teaching the golfer the same movement patterns but on the surface it may sound different.
Love Physics in Golf. Parametric Acceleration must also conserve angular momentum and therefore increase CHS. I believe this is what Mo Norman had in his mind, but had no tech name for it other than “The feeling of greatness “ He believed his club was square on the down swing from 3 ft outside his right foot to 3 ft beyond his left. I am getting this effect with a slight S&T weight more Left and no fall backwards and dominant RH. Good work.
At 71 years old , I am giving up on all the technical instruction on RUclips. If I was to to execute all of the movements shown by instructors, I would freeze and not even an attempt at hitting the ball. Golf instruction has become way too technical in order to develop a relaxed swing for an enjoyable game.Far too much emphasis on emulating what we see professionals playing the game. I do find your videos as well as others very entertaining and enjoyable to watch as it keeps my interest in playing the game alive.
Club needs to rotate around a pivot point that is exactly in between the top hand fingers and bottom hand fingers on the grip. Not only that, the left hand need to go up and around and the club head down and out. This is what I understand
I'm not sure I follow this logic. Wouldn't it depend on your goal? Lets say you like to feel a fling at the ball but have good timing. Is this supposed to be superior? Like if you were playing table tennis and tried to either SLAM a forehand or STEER a forehand. 2 totally different feels. Is this mainly with irons for control?
Alright, I’ll bite - how can hands going up allow clubhead to go down - doesn’t make sense given the golf club maintains the distance between the hands and the clubhead.
Me Too hacks ? What a joke courses are for everyone of every ability I think its disrespectful to call anyone a hack , & I think you should remind yourself you don't own the course & everyone has the right to play regardless of ability, it's people like yourself that gives golf the public image it can't get away from, stuck up people who think they have a good given right to look down on others, shocking comment #shameonyou
Great explanation Steve. Very clear, simple yet very effective video on ball striking. Love the style and format as usual. many thanks.
Thanks, Steve.

Great break down and explanation, trying this ASAP... 👍
Well done on Your advancement !!!
You are already on another level far and away past Advanced....
Steve Johnston Advanced PGA - Handy!
Congrats 👏
cheers dude
Steve, I like this explanation a great deal. Initial swings proved very positive. Many thanks!
Great explanation of a new technique I'm looking forward to trying at the range, thanks Steve.

Well explained thank you. Must experiment 👍
You are quite advanced at advancing. Great content as usual!

Glad you liked it!
Great content Steve. Just subscribed a week ago. John from Preston Lancashire. Keep it up. Eureka !!

Good stuff Steve, love your take on rotating the body to get a better strike which I am working on . Are you the Stephen Hawkins of the golf World?
Steve. Off the chain. Woweee
Wow, that is advanced. Thanks for the post.
Steve,

Outstanding. I would like you spend more time on how to do it the best way. On your next video. Thank you
Looks like you've advanced to a well earned level Steve.
This was so advanced it took me 2 years to catch up! Glad I did and hopefully I can parametrically accelerate even a bit.
You can do it!
Fantastic tip really helped me strike my irons solidly and straight
Do you keep back to target until arm reconects then turn like you have shown

Love the videos. Bit of a laugh but also clear instructions without the waffle.

Getting ball then turf is what i find is the hardest part of golf
Interesting, one question. Is'nt 3200 rpm extreamly low for a 7 iron?
Thanks
But if I’m lifting up won’t I top or thin the ball?

Hi Steve, you're last shot had only just over 3k spin, that seems very low for a 7iron.Why was the spin so low ?
strong modern lofts plus lots of shaft lean, probably delivering it like a 5 iron.
Why is the spin rate so low for a 7 iron?
Congratulations on the advanced Professional status.
🤷🏻♂️confusing. If I’m lifting up won’t I top or thin the ball?
Dear Advanced Steve, I went and hit balls today. It seems to work .....

Do you know of a Wiggins county ship in Scotland or Wigam ? I understand they were Blacksmiths and horse traders wink wi kk

dynamic lie angle
it should be the 1st lesson for a beginner
Engaging, refreshing, advancing.
Advanced lesson!
No
I like Scottish people too much.
This is advancing. Think trebuchet instead of a simple catapult.
bull dookey
A 180 yard 7 iron...and then 192. Filthy.
Rubbish
Me Too try playing & not over thinking golf it makes it so much more enjoyable & easier

Great Explanation - for a blind Johnstone anyway!
