This was just rehearsal. There probably was barely anyone there actually watching. They got a much bigger one at the actual performance

I felt bad for them, It must have been cold and I think they were up at 4 am or 5 am the day of the parade. I've done it for the news I act at Haunted Houses, they want to do that early and then do the show later on that night. Hats off to them.

I love how they totally changed the lyrics but ir still fits
You will literally never find a version of this song where Alex hasn’t changed some lyrics. The song in the actual show, the soundtrack version, the time he performed on the today show and here, he’s changed some lyrics to fit the set, I love it.
As far as I know, for this performance, at least two versions were recorded (this one and the lyric change for broadcast). However, I think that they recorded a third or fourth, and the one you saw at broadcast was "second." Basically all they have to do is record with the different lyric---so they may just need to throw Alex into a sound booth for an hour or so, since the chorus is already in place and doesn't change their parts. Then he just has to remember both versions, and "his people" or the producers of the parade tell him before they actually go on-air which version is going to be played. Hopefully at least a few hours prior so he has time to self-rehearse.

I am very curious to hear from someone who happened to see the Beetlejuice understudy, see how they liked it. I saw Dana Steingold as Lydia when I saw the show in October, and I was quite happy with her take on it.

His name is Danny Rutigliano, he plays Maxie Dean in the show. All the Broadway shows and singers that perform at the parade lip sync because singing in the cold would ruin their voices.

The best thing about Alex Brightman is that while he’s performing at shows other than broadway he improvised the lyrics. This is shown a lot here and in his performance at the Tony’s and I love it. It gives so much more character to Beetlejuice

I would suspect that the nachos were all real nachos, and that a production assistant - probably the same guy you see here in shorts - used a hair dryer to heat the nachos and cheese literally minutes prior to this rehearsal, and then a second plate similar for the "live" broadcast. That way the cheese would be melty and do what you saw in the final air.
It's kinda of amazing that this songs lyrics are so changeable! It never sounds weird, it's so cool.
