I remember my mom and dad talking about " Atom and Eve" tours...where newlyweds would make a road trip to see test sites, or get as close to them as you legally could. One of my uncles saw several above ground atomic tests, at various distances. That museum would be interesting! I want to go on a " Out West" road trip...that will definitely be a stop.
Just came back from my own trip to Las Vegas. Saw Hoover Dam, did the Big Shot at the Strat, did the Avengers STATION, went to Red Rock Canyon. I drove my Meowwolf, the Pinball Hall of Fame, and the Atomic Testing Museum. Thanks for videos so I could see things I didn’t have time to see myself.
It's awesome they let you go through it even when they were closed. I was still using an ipod about 3 or 4 years ago and people would examine it like it was an ancient artifact. Lol I also remember using floppy disks in my first grade class and playing games on them to learn. Remember, in some older movies and TV shows they once held the key to saving the world. Lol
You are a courier, hired by the Mojave Express, to deliver a package to the New Vegas Strip. What seemed like a simple delivery job has taken a turn... for the worse
So nice of them to let you tour despite being closed. I remember the nuclear bomb drills in school. Interesting and unusual museum. Keep Safe❤Keep Well ❤
I can't believe that they missed the biggest pop culture item! The greatest monster of all time. GODZILLA!! He was created as a result of atom bombs and the original Japanese movie was very influenced by the fear of another bomb being dropped and the result of the explosion
Good morning Jacob, you surpass yourself, showing us this strange museum. The officials in Los Vegas have to give you a medal for the touristical service for the town.👍🇺🇸
My brother was metal detecting on our grandparents' house a couple of years ago and found one of those Manhattan Project pins that was apparently given to our grandmother who worked in Oak Ridge then.
I saw this place on an episode of California Gold a few years ago and I've wanted to go there ever since. So cool you got a private look. I can't wait till they open back up.
That was really cool of them to let you in even though it was closed. It is free publicity for them given your viewership. The uranium in children's testing sets is not surprising. There was a company in The area that made a fortune selling home Geiger counters to encourage would be prospectors to search for uranium deposits in thier own back yards, and thier was a company selling dishware that had used uranium in thier paints. A lot of ladies that painted the dishes wound up dying of cancer due to the painters habit of restoring the tips of thier paint brushes by pressing flattening it with thier lips. The Robot from Lost in Space was technically designated as B-9. It's original purpose was environmental analysis and defense. The Robinson family simply addressed him as Robot, Dr. Smith of course had a whole slew of insults for the Robot!
I hate how when I'm older, CDs will be irrelevant, they already almost are now.... but my theory is they'll make a come back at some point just like record players, I still buy vinyls and CDs and I'm not stopping soon
13:26 I use an 8mm kodak very frequently when I have film and same goes for the tape machine for recording lol i actually have that same akai in the next frame
I remember one time I saw this documentary about the workers who would out and pick up all the parts, debris, etc. after a test bomb was dropped. The images they showed and what happened to these people were alarming. They did get some kind of compensation for what happened to them...but it wasn't enough. There's a gentleman in the film they are interviewing...but you never see ALL of him....then they pull back the camera at the end....and you see he has this MASSIVE arm/hand.....It made you think....
My grandfather worked there i know you saw bricks with names inscribed on them his was LtCol Walter Sanborn he was a navigation officer working with nukes in the 50s and 60s it was awesome to visit this place
You know you've made it when a museum lets you have the whole place to yourself! Great video as always! I'm glad the pandemic isn't causing too much of an interruption in your travels :)
The Lost in Space robot was officially "B9", but within the show it was just referred to as the robot. Personally, I think it looked very different than Robbie (Robbie still exists, it has shown up on many other shows and movies, it was even in Lost in Space episode).
one thing I find super interesting is that vegas capitalized on the testing of the nuclear bomb, they called it atomic tourism and people would travel to Vegas to watch them test the atomic bomb. I read an article on it for my 12th grade history class and it has stuck with me ever since
My cousin took me there.I enjoyed the toy section. I had the atomic cannon, and the atomic red hots. Remember duck and cover in school? Here how that breaks down.1: you are under those old heavy wood desk. 2:You are in a brick building. 3:Flash, instance cremation.
Hey! Saw you on Solomonster's AEW chat. Love when2 of my different content providers intertwine(doesn't sound right but hey whatever lol). Last I checked I still have tickets for Blood and Guts in NJ lmao
I am here in Las Vegas and your video encouraged me to go. Thanks.
This video is a real blast! : )
Yep I got a bang out of it!
I really hope this video blows up
This video blow me away.
I ATOMATICALLY gave this comment a 👍🏻
@@Helllow1012 that one was shit
I have a pamphlet in a vintage newspaper about how to build your own fallout shelter. Crazy stuff.

I need to visit this museum. Man, I do feel old seeing the electronics that I still have packed away somewhere. 🤦♀️🤣
Carpetbagger, This Vegas series is one of your best. Great LIVE chat from the road last night.
Greatly appreciate it

@@TheRocketMouse dug ya up to see if you were still kickin
And that is how I met your father (benny)
Never seen a museum like this ever before - fascinating 👍🏼
Wonder if they have a section on how easy it is to survive a nuclear blast if you hide in a lead-lined refrigerator.
Indiana jones reference. :Edit Although I would say would a lead-lined refrigerator save your life in a nuclear blast?
Interesting staff in the musium
Glad you visited here. The museum has added new things since we visited a few years ago. Thank you for the great tour! On to the next!
I remember when Marty was telling doc that the delorean when Marty said that this sucker was nuclear
So nice of them to let you tour despite being closed. I remember the nuclear bomb drills in school. Interesting and unusual museum. Keep Safe❤Keep Well ❤
So much more to Vegas than slot machine and entertainment, so nice of them to let you in on your own to vlog Jacob really interesting place x
Trying to show a different side of Vegas!
14:22 I have that exact DS lite lol kinda weird seeing it in a museum..
HAHA compressed air! Only wish we could have seen that. 😆💗
That’s pretty neat that the staff let you walk around even though they were closed. It was very interesting.
Another interesting museum that I must visit next time I’m in Vegas!
Pretty interesting! I haven't watched you in a while so I thought I would do some binge watching and catch up! Rock on bagger 🤘
I never realized how many interesting places there are to explore in Vegas. Hope you and your family are well Jacob.
What a fascinating museum!! Thank you so much for taking us around here Carpetbagger, it's brilliant 👍😊😊
Thanks Jacob!

ur videos are great to binge during quarantine!!!
Atomic Energy Lab - fun for the whole family. I love the classic electronics. I used most of those. This video was the bomb!

The 50s atomic retro aesthetic is my favourite. Thanks Cabana Bay and The Sci-Fi Drive in Diner.

Oak Ridge, TN used to have a museum similar to this. I don't know if they still do.
It's still there.
13:26 I use an 8mm kodak very frequently when I have film and same goes for the tape machine for recording lol i actually have that same akai in the next frame
They should have a copy of The Iron Giant in the the pop culture case. The whole time I was singing Dunk and Cover to myself.
This was my families highlight of our trip to vegas
This place was the bomb! Sorry, had to do it.
Thank you Jacob for another interesting video upload.
Never really thought about it, but where would the modern hot sauce industry be without the atom bomb?
Duck and Cover!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
The only thing missing is the fridge Indiana Jones hid in to escape an atomic blast.
I am a historian and want to work in museums for the rest of my life. I love seeing what unique museums are out there!
Very educational video Thanks a Million
Great channel with great content, always respectful and mannerly!! Bagger is a good guy!!
Great video Jacob thanks for sharing!
Your parallels of the Cold War and COVID are spot on. We will get through this! Nice job man.
Super quality content. I didn't even know something like this existed. Definitely one of your coolest stops in my book.
This is a great video and a smart way to learn the history of the atomic bombs and random 🤫 testing
I love this place!

Oh, thank god. Do you have a geiger counter? Do you have a goddamn geiger counter?
7:20 .... is this your way of letting us know you screamed when the compressed air happened? (similar to your haunted house videos)

9:15 those are Scintillators, they don’t have ionization chambers but instead a sodium iode crystal. Very cool museum :).
Educational.
🚀...That was so⚛️atomic...💥
I had a Game Boy. It was my first personal video game system.
Another one 💯💯
That looked like a Vic-20. Commodore 64s were grey.
This is great!!! Keeping the great videos coming!🙌🏼
Seeing so much stuff in a museum, that was day-to-day technology bf made me feel old, tbh haha

Hi this is a really cool museum. Glad you had an interesting time.
Great video and very interesting museum.
Really Cool Museum
The Gilbert Atomic Energy Lab that was on display is the one that actually contained Uranium. It states U-238 on the box. Great video as always!

I’ve been there before
This was insanely booom-tiful
reminds me of the mickey rooney movie - the atomic kid
Crazy to think my grandpa was there for the Trinity testing , died of cancer..............
Amazing that a lot what you found in a museum was once probably top secret.
