There is nothing can be substituted to perilla leaves. Cause the taste of perilla leave is so unique! If you have not tried this one before you might don’t like (I saw many of non-Korean didn’t like this). You can use green onion instead. It won’t be 100% the same as perilla leaves. But it is really good with dumplings.
The ingredients inside are typical ones for Korean dumplings. She is introducing the rice paper as a replacement for the traditional dumpling skin. No one is trying to claim that rice paper is Korean as much as Vietnamese people are not claiming that ddeokbokki is Vietnamese just because their version uses rice paper in replacement of Korean ddeok. Korean people actually find it interesting that Vietnamese people are using rice paper to make ddeok. Food culture influences one another and that way it evolves. We should feel more open to different cultures getting inspiration from one another

In the case you serve as snack, from vietnamese recipe, it suitable use mayonnaise mix with chili sause. Rice paper has 2 kind, one for wrap roll (fresh) and one for fried roll. Pay attention on cover paper has picture of fried roll. And you should use small pot and fried more oil like fried chicken.
@@phuongngan1911 Then I guess it just depends on preferences in Vietnam. If you go to a Chinese restaurant and ask for dumplings in the States, you're going to get pork filling dumplings for the majority of the time.

In Vietnam, it can also be added crab inside. They call it "Bánh đa nem" or "Nem cua bể". It is really yummy.

I think dumpling filling is a lil bit different. It’s gonna contain pork and some kind of black mushroom.
