Day9 if you see this, I would love to collab :)
ohmygod. A "MTG player ranks hearthstone cards" with Day9 and seeing his mind get absolutely obliterated by the powercreep! Inject it directly into my veins, PLEASE!!
just ask him directly im sure hell say yes he does stuff like this a lot or has in the the past
holy yes please this would actually be unreal
You are probably not even gonna see this but if you do, Rarran, I assume you were just memeing but the magic comprehensive rules as of 3/14/2023 is a 278 page PDF in addition to that there are thousands of individual rulings for cards and some of there interaction that can be found on the WOTC website Gatherer.
I need this so badly
Sean is an absolute legend. Many people aren't aware that not only was he the first Twitch streamer with a sub button, the feature was even built in collaboration with him. He was a major influence on how the site developed in its early days.
And some 3 years ago he was the first person with a 100 month running subscription to his channel.
not true, Jesse Cox was the first, day9 was a few days after
I don't know if that's a compliment seeing what an absolutely cesspit of hell Twitch has become since those days, if he influenced their predatory monetization that's not great.
@@ruin3r yeah bro it was 100% day9’s fault, because he helped them with One feature twelve years ago. im sure nothing major happened in the meantime, like amazon buying the site or something. great analysis 👍
I suggest you look up how to think things through, all the way.@@ruin3r
@@Flum666 9 days later?
The larger and larger man and the mysterious challenger mage are such legendary clips, man
Day9 is awesome
That little delay between challenger played and secrets appear.. Beautiful
I still go back and watch the mysterious challenger clip every once in a while.
If you think day 9 heartstone is bad, you need to watch him play dota. his life litterally leaves his body every single time.
anyone that wants to learn dota should watch day9s 2 or so year old series with purgegamers, youll learn a lot and also see a lot of new player mistakes u can avoid
@@sriley4458 I’m sorry to make you feel old but that was 6 years ago
@@phunkschaos oh... oh no...
@@phunkschaos *dies*
@@phunkschaos Day 9 playing dota was 26 years ago Aware
I LOVED Day9, he actually went to the same high school I went to! What an awesome personality of a streamer, wish he still did hearthstone 😢
3:25 For reference, the Magic Comprehensive Rules is 278 pages long as of it's last update in February 2023
its*
Day9, actually, has one of my favorite videos in all of youtube. It is called "How i almost died" and i go back to it when i feel bad
For me it's the highlights of him playing Amnesia! Where he get's more and more scared and loses his mind, it's glorious to watch.
“Being relentlessly positive” changed my life, I watch it at least twice a year
For me he is just the perfect combination of a dude who gives wholesome advice based on his own struggles in life and the person with the most infectious laugh ever. My favourite clip of him is probably the laughing compilation made by a fan, uploaded to his own youtube.
That and his scifi "no plate like chrome for the holorays" are two of my favorite pieces of content ever created
Oh, one of the funniest Day9 videos for me is one of his old SC2 videos with itmeJP, called "The Build". Every time I watch it, i feel like I've done 1000 crunches
The MTG Comprehensive Rules aren't usually in a book format, but it is a very large pdf with ~225 pages of rules currently (278 pages if you include the glossary and table of contents). It reads like a legal document for the most part, and isn't actually intended for learning the game, but is instead for clarifying the intricacies of the game. If you have a question about an interaction, you can usually figure out the answer yourself by checking the Comprehensive Rules (though a Gatherer search is usually a quick and sufficient way to find rulings on individual cards).
My favourite Day9 memories are his streams with Ben Brode. Their energy mixed together, Day9's mistakes, Ben Brodes laugh makes me smile every time.
When you end a turn with a 20/20 or higher stat minion in hearthstone, you get the achievement "A Larger Man" lmaooooo
My two favourite clips I remember of Day9 were:
- When he crafted a deck full of huge minions for Naxxrammas and accidentally took it to Ranked
- When he was talking to chat and removing infinite kittens from around him
Day9 will always be a favorite, but nothing will EVER top his Funday Mondays
Man, the MTG rule book has so many weird exceptions including one card which has like 50 different rulings. It's honestly amazing how the judges keep track of all of the interactions and their issues. Also, the card is referencing is somthing like world worm which lets you cast it if you see it in your deck while searching... which breaks way too many rules
theres so many different gamemodes and mechanics its crazy. one off the top of my head is the Ante mechanic, people hated that lmao
There are interactions with panglacial wurm where they pretty much say “if you try to make this happen in a tournament, it’s effectively cheating and you’re getting a game loss”
I think it’s Panglacial Worm, but yeah that shit is so goofy
Day9 is the best his stuff is still great, man deserves more exposure for the community he’s made and effort he puts in
Day9 is absolute legend ^^. Watched so much of his stuff. SC, Hearthstone, MTG, the random life stories... can really brighten your day.
I was just rewatching the 'even larger man' clip recently. Love some classic Day9
I remember I used to watch Day9's streams all the time back IN 2016/2017 and he always put a smile on my face. I miss him and those streams.
I miss Spellslingers... I wish he could return to doing things like that.
spellingslingers?
@@Rarran Spellslingers was when Day9 Invited people to play IRL Magic: the Gathering, it was always super funny, and the most amazing banter occurred
@@KnucklesGum One of the best bits being Jesse Cox talking about his Seacoast Drake... just soaring the coastline picking up accents, while he proceeded to lose the game to only land.
@@ivenstorm I rewatch that episode many times, the accent changing like 7 times is a highlight, with Jesse cheating massively in the end, all absolutely futile. It's a classic
@@Rarran It was for Geek & Sundry (the channel of Will Wheaton and Felicia Day)
There was a reveal stream with Ben Brode and Day9. Best offical Hearthtone stream ever -> nonstop laughing.
The one with the Shudderwock reveal?
@@cameronbrett8552 I actually don't know anymore for which expansion the reveal stream was, I just remember laughing along for 1 or 2 hours :D
@@enrikolankau3702 ruclips.net/video/Ii0XqLi3c5k/видео.html
oh yea remember that one... what a glorious day it was when i watched that :D.
This man was my entire childhood - just an amazing guy capable of making you feel good any time
The fact that the "Warth" clip isn't in this is a crime against nature.
Hands down, Day9 was the funniest HS player. I would die laughing watching him for hours. Such a cool guy
I had the joy of learning SC and SC2 from Day[9] ever since his first adventures in content creation with his Day[9] dailies. Not only is he really funny, he's also great at breaking things down and teaching. It was a really sad time for me when he started distancing himself from Starcraft, but I'm glad he's found other things he likes doing
I watched Day9 learn Master Duel, that guy has a hilarious way of being and laugh.
Great entertainer.
Rarran is not too bad either.
NOT TOO BAD?!
I disagree
Glad I stumbled over your channel.. you showcase all these streamers I watched years ago.
I absolutely loved the Hearthstone scene back then.
Especially the Seatstory Cup tournaments were great.
I kinda lost touch after the podcast with Kibler, Frodan and Firebat ended.
Always good to revisit the classics
I've been watching day9 since the BW days and I have to say, I'm so glad he has reached so many people.
"Did You Knew Hearthstone" with Day9, using cards from the sets he played?
I would love to, try to get in contact with him before but didnt get a reply :(
What a trip down memory lane! Love to see it
I love day9 and as a gsl fan also his brother. They are both gems in their communities.
one that's not in this vid, everyone make sure to watch day9's "warth" clip. that's W-A-R-T-H. absolutely refuses to leave my brain
I was there for that stream, talking to his mods through DMs. They were LOSING IT laughing XD
The Day9 Hearthstone Dectackular was a thing to behold. Those were glorious days indeed. The only HS personality I miss more than Sean is Firebat. He was, and will forever be, my favorite Hearthstone content creator.
I miss Day9 in HS so much, he was always an absolute blast to watch. As a sidenote, his gameplay of Hitman was absolutely hilarious, I laugh so hard every time I watch it!
I remember absolutely LOVING watching StarCraft games casted by Day9. Legend 💜
9:11 proof that pirate warrior is hard to pilot
4:48 The buildup to Day9's infectious laughter.
Watching Day9 play Hearthstone is my favorite era of content creation ever
Day9 is the goat. His starcraft content is what got me into esports and twitch in the first place
Same :D. legend :)
I love the extreme dedication to shame conceding! :D
I miss him in Hearthstone, but I'm also happy to see his Magic streams and set reviews
Holy shit I've never seen someone enjoying hearthstone this hard
I've intalled Hearthstone for the first time during Rise of shadows, never saw Day9 before, thanks for the surprise :)
Aah yes, miss Day9. Like you and many others are wishing, hope you can get him on your channel Rarran.
Genuinely one of the most entertaining streamers ever, love Day9. And he has like, the most infectious laugh ever.
11:22 funny enough that Onyxia was hard run in evolve shaman on chineese servers. And local guys have calculated that your chance to get at least 1 doomsayer from that was around 11% according to Kripp.
"I summon an even larger and larger man!"
Never forgetti
Rarran watching Kripp: "he's literally me!"
Rarran watching Day9: "he's literally me!"
day9 has been awesome since the broodwars days, hes still at it! I wish he did hs content still but its always something new :)
I'll watch this long Rarran video so next time I can watch an even longer and longer rarran video
Love Day9. I watch all his Magic the Gathering card reviews even though I don't play because they're so goofy. He recently started letting viewers donate to have him re-review cards to whatever rating they wanted.
IIRC he played Yu-Gi-Oh once just to laugh hysterically at the absurd card names
I leaned a lot from Day9, or rather I learned one thing that's been useful in the majority of games I've played over the years.
"Spend your money (Unless you have a specific build order that requires saving for something).", or extrapolated "Doing something sub-optimal is better than doing nothing".
Words of Wisdom!
"I don't think a single person has read that in their life" made all the MTG judges cry.
7:26 there was a website, on which each mouse would summon a png of a jade golem of increasing stats and each summon would be accompanied with day 9's "summon an even larger man". There were others also, mostly featuring MSoG, but most of them are down now.
day9 is a bit of an OG if i remember, he was very active in the sc2 scene when that dominated esports, him transitioning to hearthstone because it was blizzard and something he could play casually on stream
Day9 got me into the SC2 Ladder. What a pure man.
Day9 has the energy needed to heal hearthstone. Both the salt and the fun sides
the handbook you looked up is just the very basics(how to play cards, attack, block, etc.) the actual comprehensive rules are a 207 page pdf document.
Day9 has to be one of my top creator’s. that now for this blast from the past
I loved him pulling up the image of the magic handbook @3:32. I have a copy of that one. That picture is not the comprehensive rules, it's the introductory rules. That book is 6 inches tall for scale. I read it when I was getting into Magic.
Day 9 was so entertaining. Especially when doing the pre release stuff.
that mind control clip is so good xD
Day9 is so fucking funny. He makes me laugh so hard and I never feel like, bad that I'm laughing. He makes everything so warm and funny.
Day9's laughter could cure cancer
thnks rarran i was starving
I haven’t ugly coughed laughed so much in a while 😅
The key to good content is having fun, doing stupid shit and most of all having an amazing laugh
I can not believe you didn't include the warth clip :D By far the funniest shit i have seen from D9
Easiest way to describe modern card games: "The card does what it says"
My favorite clip of his was the “warth” indecent. Kills me every time
No one tell Rarran of Magic Judges. Gotta keep this child pure
that first camera clip day9 did reminded me so much of jerma
YES IT HAPPENED
3:30 No my man, that's just a players handbook for 5th edition. Which released in 1997. it has 37 pages afaik.
The actual 'rulebook' has never been printed as far as i know. The PDF alone is big enogh to make my firefox freeze while loading it.
Then there is also the gatherer oracle archive, which explicitly deals with corner cases, obtuse interactions and text ambiguity.
Furthest numbered rule i could get displayed on short notice is 701.38 (yes, rule 701 has more than 38 sub cases). I know there are more though. Also, not nearly all of them are actually numbered.
There is a reason Tier 1 judge, the highest recognized form of official referee/umpire is a pretty well salaried job position. The complexities to govern these cardboard fights is utterly _insane_.
Day9s laugh can cure depression
you should do a best of firebat moments next, miss that streamer
And when asked, "How is it pronounced?!" He says: "Why'sha-arr-jay"
You should recreate the first cut with the eyes and mouth on the playing field XD
Young Day9. I miss these days
Jades are my favorite archetype. Even with new cards. Favorite play was hero power coin and shudderwock. Players usually quit
Day9 will be doing Blizzard Month this March and playing some Hearthstone again! Can't wait to see the return of these shenanigans
My favourite day9 clip is "day9 laughing at himself laughing"
fuck i miss day9 dailies, what a better time in my life
That is the PERFECT inro!
Amazing guy, i agree miss him too
As someone who doesn't play hearthstone I have no clue what I'm watching other than a man losing his grip on sanity.
11:25 can somebody explain why that was a concede? Is it because of the Doomsayer?
Also, the last clip I didn't understand - what are those cards and how did he get 26 health?
Just looked up the Magic the Gathering comprehensive rule book in PDF form. It's 278 pages long, the last 48 pages are a glossary. Not supposed to read the whole thing, its intended as a place to look up specific rules/interactions. Regardless, it's massive
if only rarran knew that the actual magic the gathering rulebook is actually a pdf rapidly approaching the 300 page mark.
10:52 He should play around Mysterious Challenger xD
I remember this guy so much way back whenn
Darn u Rarran u made me open up Hearthstone again after quitting in Stormwind.
I'd like to think the sound he makes at 4:05 is the very essence of SMOrc
He was amazing
Day9 is a god. I dont know how many times ive seen this video :D
what a nostalgia trip
today I had a aggro shadow priest cast raise dead into my Oh My Yogg which turned it into a forbidden flames that killed his ashen elemental and I cackled exactly like Day[9]
day9 is and will forever be the GOAT.
I watched this video yesterday lol what are the odds
OMG DAY9!
1:59 Warrior was like "Look, I know what you meant. GG you dumbass 😂"
Day9 taught me how to play Starcraft
