The Jura Ferry

  • We had a great day on Jura but it was the ferry journey back to Islay that was the most fun, the ferry leaves from Port Askaig, and crosses the fast flowing Sound of Islay, to reach Feolin in a little over five minutes. On a nice day the crossing is a pleasure and offers the visitor beautiful views of the Paps of Jura.
    We were amazed at the skill of the captain despite the fast flowing waters he hit his mark at the dock with perfection.

    Ah, the Captain Pugwash music. Were Master Bates, Seaman Staines, and Roger the Cabin Boy on board.... ?

      LOL we didnt see Roger on this journey.

      Urban myth. Characters were The Mate, Barnabus and Willy; the cabin boy was called Tom.
